Hey guys! I'm ahead on "Heartbreak," I have a bunch of chapters pre-written for the time being, so I decided to share a one-shot! This is not a mortal AU (although I love doing them, I love the canonverse a lot). I'd say this is post- giant war, at camp half blood.

Percy clutched Annabeth's waist, pulling her closer to him as they danced next to the lake - the one where they had shared their hopes and dreams with each other- their worries and insecurities. And most of all, their first kiss.

He held her in his arms, hoping she would never let go- never break away. He held her as close as he could and they swayed, side by side to an unknown beat.

It made Percy feel love, because he was in love, with her, he had always been. He leaned down to her, pulling away ever so slightly, just so he could kiss her. It was a light kiss, straight on the mouth, and he could feel her smile against his lips.

He felt her arms encircle him, and push him closer, as they kept swaying, back and forth, dancing, the splashes of water being their only music. He brought his hands around her neck, and smiled back against her lips, and soon, quickly pulled away.

Annabeth grinned at him, and lightly brushed a bit of hair out of his face, and he beamed back. She cupped her hands around his cheek, but didn't move in for another kiss. She just remained there, her warm hands on his face.

Percy didn't know how he'd gotten so lucky. She was beautiful, yes, grey eyes, tan skin, curly blonde hair, but her personality and everything else about her, was just perfect. She was smart, she called him out when he was being stupid. She was sarcastic, but caring too. She was kind, she was everything.

"I love you." He murmured to her, words flowing carelessly out of his mouth. They'd said it before, but this felt different. Now, there was no impending destruction coming their way, no prophecy they had to be worried about. It was just them, only them.

Annabeth smiled up at him, and bit her lip. "I love you too Percy."

It was crazy how much he felt for this girl- what he would do with her and for her. He went to hell for her and would go again as many times as it took, if it meant saving her.

He knew that she felt the same way about him. That wasn't just being cocky like it sounded, it was true. Percy knew how they looked at each, people had constantly made fun of how they looked at each other. No one could deny the pure love they had for one another. As much as Percy doubted himself and his worthiness, he knew that was true.

The only truth he needed was that Annabeth loved him. He would be fine with all the rest. If she was alive, if she was safe, so was he.

And that wasn't just emotional because ever since Tartarus, they'd been practically inseparable. It could be a good or bad thing, but that didn't matter, because it was the situation they were in, and that wasn't something Percy ever wanted to change.

Percy was just glad they'd be settling down soon. They'd go to college in New Rome, and then just see how everything went. Percy knew it was weird to think about, but he fantasized about being a dad- having kids with Annabeth, as long as he survived this whole "demigod" thing.

It couldn't go any other way- he couldn't imagine a world where he was alive and without Annabeth. They had gone through so much together, Percy knew that even if another guy, someone better than him, came into Annabeth's life, she wouldn't leave him.

Of course, nobody was better than Annabeth, so he didn't even have to worry about that side. But Percy did know there were guys better than him- ones that hadn't been mentally disturbed, ones that were perfect.

"You're all I need." He whispered to Annabeth, hugging her even closer.

Annabeth smiled, and pulled him to her. "And you're all I need." She said. "Even if the whole world turns against me, I know I'll have you. I'll always have you."

"Yeah," Percy told her, looking at her with pure admiration. "And I'll always have you too." He said. "I hope so." He muttered quietly, hoping she wouldn't hear.

Annabeth just pulled him closer. "Yes." She said, looking at him, almost mentally telling him she'd heard what he'd said. "And you don't have to hope. It's a fact. We'll always have each other, no matter what happens, I swear."

"I swear too." Percy said, and held his hand up to her, which she meant with her's. "Is that a pact?"

Annabeth pulled him closer once more, and kissed him on the tip of his nose. "It's a promise," She said. "That we'll never hurt each other, no matter what."

"And why would we ever need that Wise Girl?" Percy said, beaming. "That would never happen anyway."

Annabeth laughed and flicked his shoulder with two of her fingers. "Just promise Seaweed Brain."

He pretended to groan, chuckling at her exasperation. "Fine." He fake sighed, "I promise, to never ever, ever," He added the last 'ever' for emphasis, "hurt you. Not even in my dreams. There's not a thought in my mind telling me to." He said seriously, "I sometimes feel like I'm not worth you, but not even I would be dumb enough to do anything about that." He kissed her cheek. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me Annabeth."

She smiled, and pecked him on his ear. "You're the best thing that's ever happened to me Percy," She kissed him again, this time, raising herself on her tippy toes, and putting her lips to his hairline. "I promise I'll never ever, ever hurt you." She copied his words. "And Percy, don't ever say that. We deserve each other."

Percy smiled at her, and then kissed her straight on the lips, putting his hands in her hair, bringing her closer to him, just as he had so many times before. He'd kissed her so many times, on the Argo II, in the water, around camp, so many places, but this felt different.

Each other time they kissed, it felt like just another chapter in their story, but this felt like the end of the book, and a start, of a newer, happy one. Preferably a romance, Percy thought to himself, as he pulled Annabeth closer to him. He didn't dare say that directly to her, because he knew he would get lightly slapped on the shoulder.

This time, maybe the gods would just let them love.

"Hey!" A voice shouted from behind them, making the two jump apart. Percy whipped his head around to see Leo and Piper, grinning at each other while they stared at them. "Campfire's starting. Stop snogging love birds, come over here!"

Percy held out his hand to Annabeth, "Will you come with me, M'lady," He bowed.

She giggled, "Of course, good sir," She replied, and took his hand, walking back to camp, as the sun set behind them- making the ending of an era. An era of pain, suffering, but most of all hope- hope for a new one to start.

And that era, Percy decided, would have to be pretty damn good.

I really hoped you enjoyed it. I just felt like I hadn't really written fluff in a while, and wanted to, because the longer term story right now is pretty heavy on angst, so this came out! Stay safe and healthy everyone! Leave a review, tell me what you think!
