Disclaimer: I do not own Doctor Who and never will. I do own Mackenzie Tyler and any other characters I come up with!

Author's Note: So, going into world of Doctor Who again with a new story and a new character in Mackenzie Tyler. This time, she's Rose's cousin and the daughter of Steve Tyler's sister. I don't think there's too many of those out there. I think I might have saw one or two, so I'll try to make mine a little different. That's all I really have to say about it lol.

Oh, and Mackenzie is faced by Emilia Clarke from Game of Thrones. She has blonde hair in this, instead of her normal brunette.

"Mac! It's time for school!"

The loud, boisterous sound of her mother startled the blonde awake, throwing her covers off from over her head as she gasped, and her head shot over to the clock on the bedside.

7:30.

"Crap!" Mackenzie flew up out of bed, tossed some clothes on, and ran out of the room, blurring by her mum, who was sipping her coffee nonchalantly. "Mum! Why didn't you wake me up sooner?!"

"I told you last night that you should set your alarm clock." Her mother shrugged.

"I'm sorry that I don't listen! Normally what you say goes in one ear and out the other!" Mackenzie blurted out as she grabbed her school bag and an apple from the nearby bowl.

"Well, that's good to know."

"I'm sorry. You know I say things without thinking sometimes!" Mackenzie said apologetically.

Her mother said nothing for a moment, then sighed. "I know, I know, it's okay, love. Just go to school."

Mackenzie nodded as she moved over to her mum, kissing her on the cheek. "I love you." She headed out the kitchen door, but stopped abruptly. "Oh! Hey, I'm meeting Rose at Hendricks after school. Is that okay?"

"Of course. Tell Rose I said hi, and be home before dinner at Jackie's house."

Mackenzie nodded with a smile. "I will! Bye!" Finally, she was out the door.

School went by pretty quickly. Though she loved school, Mackenzie wished that she didn't have to go to it. She hated being two years younger than Rose, at least she didn't have to suffer the torture of horrible teachers and mean self-absorbed teenagers. Okay, she was one too sometimes, but still. Why couldn't life be more exciting? Every day seemed to be the same day after the other, nothing ever changing.

It would be great if something exciting happened. For once.

Mackenzie shook her head. Like that would ever happen.

Quickly hopping on the bus to get to Hendricks department store, she settled down and pulled out her journal to get some writing in before making it there.

It didn't take too long to get there, and she was off the bus. She hurried inside, quickly spotting Rose putting up clothes.

"Rose!" Mackenzie shouted at her, getting her cousin's attention.

The blonde grinned at her with her tongue in between her teeth, the normal smile her cousin gave. It was an infectious grin and despite the bad day she had, Mackenzie couldn't help but grin back. She went over to her only to hug her cousin.

"Hey!" Mackenzie greeted cheerfully. "Long time no see!"

Rose giggled. "We saw each other at dinner yesterday!"

"Well, it's still been too long." Mackenzie told her. She fixed her bag over shoulder. "Are you off yet?"

"Almost, just have to finish with these clothes."

"Okay, I'll just wait over here for you." She pointed over to the nearby chair.

"Alright, I should be done in a few minutes." Rose gave her one more grin before going over to another area with a pile of clothes in her arms.

Mackenzie smiled as she sat down in the chair, crossing her legs as she pulled out her journal from her bag. She wrote, totally engrossed in what she was writing, so she didn't notice a man in a leather jacket watching her. Until she looked up and saw him. Her eyes narrowed at the intensity he was staring at her with. She glanced away for a moment, then looked back, only to find he was gone.

That was strange.

Shaking her head, Mackenzie returned back to her writing. Around thirty minutes later, the sound system went off.

"This is a customer announcement: the store will be closing in five minutes. Thank you."

Rose came up to her. "You ready?"

"Yeah." Mackenzie put her journal back and put her bag over her shoulder. "Let's go." Grinning, she slipped her arm around Rose's as they headed out the store with two other workers in front of them, but they were stopped before they could set foot out the door.

"Oi!" The doorman exclaimed, waving a big in front of Rose's face.

With an annoyed look on her face, Rose took the bag and turned to her cousin. "You go on ahead, I'll see you at home."

"I don't mind going with ya." Mackenzie told her.

Rose said nothing for a moment. "Sure okay. It shouldn't take took long for me to give this to Wilson anyway."

"Great!" This was better than going back home already. Who knew it was going to change their lives in more ways than one.

Mackenzie followed Rose into the elevator as they went down to the basement. The doors of lift opened, and Rose stepped out with Mackenzie behind her.

"Wilson?" Rose called out. She headed further into the basement.

Mackenzie stayed closer to Rose, practically pressed up against her cousin's back. She shivered. She hated going into dark places. Maybe it was a better idea to just head on home. Well, it was too late now.

"Wilson, I got the lottery money. Wilson?"

"Who's Wilson anyway?" Mackenzie asked quietly.

"The chief electrician." Rose answered as they made it to a door that said, 'HP Wilson CEO.'

The blonde's eyebrows furrowed together. "What's the chief electrician need lottery money for anyways?"

Rose shrugged, knocking on the door. "You there?" she called. "Look, I can't hang about 'cause they're closing the shop."

"Yeah, and I told my mum we'd be back before dinner." Mackenzie added.

"With us again?"

She nodded at Rose. "Yeah."

Rose turned to the door again. "Wilson!" she tried again before she groaned. "Ugh, come on!"

"He could have already left." Mackenzie suggested.

"No, that can't be it. He's usually here until after closing. He has to be here somewhere." Mackenzie moved to Rose's side as her cousin grabbed her hand. "Come on, let's just go."

"Oh, I'm fine with that." Mackenzie agreed.

Before they even moved to leave, there was a loud sound and their heads immediately turned to where it sounded.

"What was that?" Mackenzie squeaked as her grip on Rose's hand tightened.

"I-I don't know. It must be Wilson." Rose let go of her hand and headed off in the direction of the sound.

"Rose! What are you doing? Haven't you watched horror movies; you're not supposed to follow strange sounds!" Mackenzie told her loudly.

Her cousin just continued to move forward.

Mackenzie groaned, tilting her head back in exasperation. She hurried after her cousin and grabbed Rose's hand again.

"Hello? Hello, Wilson, it's Rose. Wil – Wilson." Rose called yet again, stopping front of a fire exit door.

This was a good point to go back, but knowing Rose, she wasn't going to. Mackenzie knew she could leave if she wanted to. But she couldn't abandon Rose. If she got hurt, then Mackenzie would feel horrible, so here she was, following her cousin in probably certain death. A bit dramatic, maybe, but that's what it felt like.

Rose went through the fire exit door with Mackenzie next to her since she was still holding her cousin's hand.

Mackenzie looked around, and it looked like they were in a room where they kept the manikins at. It was just creepy here as it was in the basement.

She let go of Rose's hand and wrapped her arms around herself as she rubbed her upper arms to try to warm herself up. "Well, I didn't expect to be in a room filled with manikins at the end of the day." She mumbled to herself. "Or to be looking for some random maintenance man that I don't even know."

Rose turned the light on, making it a lot brighter in the room. It made it a little less creepy.

Mackenzie kept behind Rose as they went further into the room.

"Wilson? Wilson?" Rose kept calling.

Deciding to help, Mackenzie tried a nearby door, but that one wouldn't budge either. "There has to be another way out of here." She groaned, frowning.

There was a loud bang from behind them. Mackenzie whirled around only to find the fire exit door where they came from had closed.

Rose's eyes widened as she ran to the door and jiggled at the handles. "It won't open!" she shouted to Mackenzie.

"What? No!" Mackenzie tried to open the door next, but Rose was right. The door wouldn't open. "I told you we should have left when we had the chance, but no! You didn't listen to me!" Her breathing was growing heavy as she started hyperventilating. She hated stressful situations, and this definitely was one.

Rose quickly turned to her, grabbing her shoulders. "Calm down, Kenzie. We'll get out of here. I promise."

Mackenzie took deep breaths, running her fingers through her short blonde hair. "Okay…okay…I'm sorry for yelling." She apologized.

"It's alright, love." Rose squeezed her shoulders, then let go, just as there was a sound behind them.

It made Mackenzie jump.

"Is that someone mucking about?" Rose questioned as she went back into the room. "Who is it?"

Unknown to the two girls, a dummy slowly turned its head on its own accord.

After a moment, Mackenzie noticed it happening from the corner of her eye. Her eyes widened as she gulped and tugged on Rose's jumper.

"Uh Rose…"

Her cousin turned her head, finally noticing the dummy. Rose's own eyes widened as she stepped back.

Mackenzie moved back as well, her hand finding Rose's and squeezing it tightly. Her heart was beating fast against her chest now.

Rose let out laugh and Mackenzie looked at her, startled. Why was she laughing?

"Heh…you got me, very funny."

The dummy said nothing and didn't stop advancing towards them. This would be a good time to run, but Mackenzie was too frightened to even move as two more joined it.

"Right, I've got the joke! Whose idea was this? Was it Derek's?"

"Rose…" Mackenzie said slowly. "I don't think this is a joke…" Even though it should be. This shouldn't even be happening, but it was.

"Of course, it is, Kenz! It has to be!" Rose gave another laugh. Another dummy came up from behind the others as they continued to advance towards the two girls.

"Derek, is this you?!" Mackenzie and Rose moved back even further.

Rose was in front of her. She backed up a bit too much, ending up bumping into Mackenzie, making her trip over a box.

Mackenzie gasped as she fell backwards, landing on her bum. She didn't stay on the ground for a long as she scurried back up to her feet and braced herself against the wall.

"Rose!" Mackenzie shouted in fear as her cousin quickly moved over to her and gripped her hand, trying to sooth her.

It wasn't working.

One of the dummies lifted up a hand and looked like it was about to hit the both of them.

Mackenzie didn't have to look at Rose to know that she was closing her eyes just like she was. This was how they were going to die. At least they weren't going to die alone.

But nothing happened.

An unfamiliar grip grabbed her hand, making her eyes pop open. Her eyes landed on a man with a buzzed haircut, blue eyes, and a leather jacket. It was the man she had seen in the shop.

Mackenzie stared at him as the man opened his mouth and just said one word that would change her world forever…

"Run."

Mackenzie, Part 2

And there's the first chapter! I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did writing it! Decided to write this story to try and regain my interest in writing Doctor Who fanfiction with a different character than the ones I've wrote. I'm writing it while rewatching Doctor Who, so that should help with the process hopefully. Tell me what you think of Mackenzie too, she feels a little different from my other characters. She's a bit shy and not as out spoken especially in the beginning but traveling with the Doctor changes that, like with any other companion haha.

I don't really know what romance will be evolved since Mackenzie is only seventeen. I might do something and let her have a romance with Jack, but I'm not sure. I'd like to know what you'd think of that.

Anyway, please leave reviews and I'll see you next time!
