A Thunderous Rumble for the God of Lightning!

"And he, Mr White, is the finest craftsman in the village." The translator gestured to an aged man whose face had more wrinkles than Harry had ever thought possible. "His craft has brought prosperity to the region."

"Hello." Harry nodded to the old man. "I would love to hear more about your craft." He waited for the translator to finish speaking, before he gestured to all the little incredibly life-like clay models around him.

The old man smiled pleasantly, and spoke for a while. "Our legends speak of Man rising from the dirt. The goddesses have blessed us with the magic that ties this body of dirt. It is but a duty of man to remember our history," the hired man translated dutifully.

"Yes of course." Harry watched Ron squirm beside him. "One second." He nodded to the translator, who nodded back. Turning to Ron, he sighed. "I take it that you don't find this interesting?"

Ron ruffled his hair. "Don't get me wrong, it's all incredibly informative."

"But you don't care for it." Ron sighed. "I get it. Why don't you go back to the city? I'm sure you'll find something interesting."

"Thanks mate!" Ron cheered.

OoOoOoOoO

"It was nice talking with you, Mr Acoma." Harry smiled warmly at the old man. "But I must take my leave."

Ron's patronus reached him. "Mate, there's a giant man made of metal that's destroying the city! My spells don't work." There was a pause which worried Harry. "Where are you going! It's a bloody death sentence!" Ron shouted to someone else. "Please come quickly." The patronus faded.

Harry looked around, ducked to a corner, and apparated away to his hotel room. He quickly ran down the stairs and came to stop at a scene of utter destruction. The houses were burning. The cars were strewn about on the road, the drivers abandoning them in favour of their lives. He arrived just in time to see a blond man get backhanded across the street by a large robot of some sort who didn't even glance in his direction.

Quickly getting into battle-mode, Harry fired an "Arresto Momentum!" to slow down the blond, and started transfiguring random debris near the muggles into thick concrete walls. He absently noted Ron helping someone away from the wreckage but his eyes were solely on the giant metal contraption.

"Stupefy!" The spell glanced off the robot's reflective body and struck a random home. So no direct spells then.

The robot turned to his voice. Harry looked above the torso, but never saw any face. Instead, the metal where his face should've been slid into the sides and a beam of fire erupted out of his head, aimed slightly towards Harry's right. Time slowed down. He noticed that if he attempted to dodge the beam, the family behind him would instead be hit. He couldn't allow that. With a grimace, he shouted "Protego!"

This was going to hurt.

The beam couldn't penetrate his shield, but it didn't need to. It enveloped the shield around him, caging him inside a ball of fire, and Harry felt heat. His skin burned. His hair caught fire. His eyes were shut but the lids did a poor job of blocking the heat.

And suddenly, it stopped.

Harry fell on his knees in exhaustion. Blinking rapidly to clear the tears, he looked around, and gaped. Lightning erupted from the sky and crashed into the blond he had saved. Wow. That guy had worse luck than even Harry. To be saved from a metal robot, and then getting struck by lightning in the middle of the day…

But then, the guy stood up. He had conjured some kind of armour and his hand had a… stone hammer, of all things? He shook his head. Not like he hadn't seen stranger things.

And then the guy threw the hammer. Harry thought the hammer was coming at him, but it actually shifted slightly and went past him. He turned quickly and saw it hit the robot squarely in his chest, and the thing smashed into the road behind him. Despite himself, Harry was impressed.

He quickly shook his head, pooled his magic in his wand and shot a transfiguration spell on the road below the robot. Thick vines erupted from the ground and wrapped themselves around the robot. The hammer flew back, and Harry saw the blond jump twenty fucking feet into the airand landed hammer first on the . Lightning arched from the sky, went through the man, and smashed into the robot. And somehow, Harry was sure that the robot thingy was not a problem anymore.

The blond jumped out of the pulverised metal and ashes of what once had been the vines, and walked towards Harry. "Thank you for your help, Friend. You brought me precious time. I will forever be in thy debt."

"You're welcome," Harry said automatically, still not quite able to process what he had just witnessed. "Just, you know, in future, use your hammer first, aye?" He smiled.

Thor laughed. "It's… complicated. But I will keep thy warning in my mind henceforward."

Harry nodded, and immediately looked around to assess the damage. The family that he had been forced to protect had already been moved away. In fact, looking around, he couldn't see any more muggles on the streets or inside the houses. Seems like Ron hadn't been idle.

Suddenly Ron popped into the street with a girl, who, after a moment of disorientation, started running to the blond, jumped, and hugged him. Harry quirked an eyebrow at Ron.

"She forced me to come back. Just wouldn't stop shouting, damn woman," Ron muttered. "Is the robot thing dealt with?"

"Yeah. Though this time it surprisingly wasn't me that did it."

"Oh? Wonder of wonders, the Boy-Who-Lived didn't save the day?" Ron smirked. "The Prophet will have a field day."

Harry waved a hand. "We'll talk later." He turned to the blond and the girl, who had finished eating each other's lips and had started talking. "You guys are alright? I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name."

"I'm Thor, and this is my lovely friend Jane." The newly christened Thor allowed the girl out of his embrace and faced Harry. "And you?"

"Mr White. Pleasure to make your acquaintance."

"So what now?" Thor asked.

Harry shrugged. "We, as in him and I," he indicated Ron and himself, "we're travelling the world, on a vacation, sort of." He glanced at Ron. "I think we've had our share of New Mexico, I think." Ron nodded eagerly. Harry continued, turning towards Thor, "What about you?"

"I am needed at my home, in Asgard. I have a feeling that we will meet again." He started swinging his hammer and the air seemed to ionize around him. "Till we meet again, Son of White!" He shot into the sky and disappeared.

Harry looked into the heavens, and gulped. He really had expected Asgard to be a place on the good ol' earth.

He looked at the girl, 'Jane' his mind supplied from the conversation. "He sure knows his dramatics."

Jane smiled knowingly. "You don't know half of it." With that, she turned around and started walking away, presumably to where Ron had taken her.

"She's hot." Ron murmured, watching her go.

Harry tilted his head. "You're sure you wanna go against the buff blond guy, who can shoot fucking lightning and curb stomp a building?"

"Maybe," Ron said uncertainly.

"I'll be sure to leave flowers on your grave." Harry shrugged.

"Hey! You've known me for so long. Don't you trust me?"

"Sure I do." Harry waited to see Ron relax. "I trust you to get yourself killed by going behind every pretty bird and her mother. Come on, we need to go." He grinned as Ron sputtered, and then the two wizards left with a pop, back to the hotel. It was a testament to the life they had lived that no one even questioned how weird things happened around them anymore.

OoOoOoOoO

"Hello Hermione?"

"Harry? What did YOU DO?" she screeched. "EVERY BLOODY NEWS CHANNEL HAS YOUR FACE SPLA—" Harry put the phone down.

After a minute or two Ron entered the room after showering. "She's still going?" He asked.

Harry picked up the phone, winced, then put it down again.

Ron smiled. "Thought so."

Harry smirked in turn. "Don't forget you have to talk to her too."

Ron gulped.
