Overall summary: On the cusp of his 18th birthday, Takeru Tenkuji is adrift in life. He has no real drive or goal for himself in life and pretty much just exists. However, while celebrating his birthday with his best friends at a museum, a strange man steals a sword from the Musashi exhibit, only for him to transform into a monster. While protecting a child, Takeru is murdered by the monster. But just as he thinks back on how he doesn't want to die yet and wants to live and come to find a purpose to his life, a mysterious man name Edith appears before him and tells him that the thing that killed him was called a gamma and that more people will suffer unless someone stops the gamma and then offers Takeru a chance to return to the realm of the living and fight to not only stop the gamma, but to acquire 15 eyecons within 365 days to return permanently. Now Takeru uses the power of Kamen Rider Ghost in order to stop the gamma's schemes, resurrect himself and to truly find a purpose for himself.

Character Bios

Takeru Tenkuji/Kamen Rider Ghost

Description: Takeru is the only son of Ryu and Yuri Tenkuji. His mother passed away not long after he was born and his father mysteriously disappeared several years later, leaving the young boy all alone and to be taken in by the family of his best friend, Akari. Growing up, Takeru was a gentle and kind boy but had little ambition for anything and just seemed to float through life without anything really holding him down. Though he did seem to carry an interest in history-or more specifically historical figures-that many say he inherited from his mother. On his 18th birthday, his best friends Akari and Onari took him to a museum where he witnessed a strange man stealing a sword from a Musashi exhibit, before turning into a monster and going on a rampage. In the end, Takeru sacrificed himself to protect a child and died that day. However, instead passing on into the afterlife, Takeru was met by a strange man named Edith and learned that the person who killed him was possessed by a creature known as a Ganma. In order to fight them and stop the royal family's plans and return permanently to the world of the living, Takeru must become Kamen Rider Ghost and find 15 of the heroic eyecons within 365 or else he will pass on for good.

Makoto Fukami/Kamen Rider Specter

Description: Makoto and his little sister Kanon's life began the day they woke up in the gamma world, as neither had any memories of before they awakened. For a long time they simply wandered the strange world until they were found by the royal family, who were perplexed by the two's amnesia and took siblings to their home and housed them. Eternally grateful to the family that took them in, Makoto swore his allegiance to king Adonis and his family and soon joined their military. Then one day, word soon began to spread throughout the kingdom that the gamma world was dying and that the King was looking for a warrior to help serve as their world's hero. Both were proven true unfortunately and Makoto was one of the many young soldiers who were drafted in the process of choosing a hero. And through hard work, determination and sheer grit, Makoto stood tall and was rewarded by Adonis with the ghost driver allowing him to become a Kamen Rider. Now he fights for his king and his home as the hero of the gamma, "Kamen Rider Specter", in his quest to acquire 15 eyecons to save the gamma world from total collapse.

Prince Alain/Kamen Rider Necrom

Description: Alain is the youngest child of king Adonis as well as his second son. He is a member of the royal family who rule over the gamma world and are a species of beings called shinigamis who help guide souls. He didn't know his mother too well and barely remembers her due to her passing away when he was very young. As he grew up, Alain found himself in his older brother's-the crown prince-shadow and had a strong, almost parental relationship with his older sister. Alain looked up to his father as one of the wisest and most courageous men he's ever known, and dreams of one day being just like him and making him proud. When his father comes to realize that their world is slowly plummeting to the path of destruction, Adonis begins a plan to go to the world of the living in order to find 15 heroic eyecons to perform a ritual that will save their world. Realizing that this is his moment to not only help his people but to also prove himself to his father, Alain volunteers to be the head of this operation and requests to be sent to the front lines to accomplish this important mission. Much to the prince's happiness, his father agrees and sends him to the living world with an assistant and a legion of gamma at his call, trusting him to do go. With all eyes of the gamma world on him and the fate of his home at stake, Alain works hard to find the eyecons and to show his family that he is just as capable of a member to the court and world as they are.

Allies

Akari Tsukimura

Description: Akari is one of Takeru's two best friends who Takeru had known since they were children. After Takeru's father disappeared, Akari's parents took the young boy in and raised him like their own, causing Takeru and Akari to develop a very strong bond. The two would always hang out with their other best friend, Onari. While Takeru and Onari were more open to the mystical or supernatural, Akari didn't believe in it at all and only believed in logic, and wants to become a professional scientist. When Takeru was killed by the Katana gamma,she took his death the hardest out of her and Onari but was both relieved and surprised to see Takeru return to life with superpowers. Though she is sweet and kind most of the time, she knows when to get in someone's face when she's annoyed or angered and isn't afraid to tell them off. She also agrees to help Takeru stop the Gamma, but still isn't as willing to accept that ghosts are real like Onari, instead finding some way to rationalize the weirdness that now surrounds her everyday life. With Edith's knowledge of the gamma and her scientific know-how, she helps to create various gadgets and weapons for Takeru to use.

Onari Yamanouchi

Description: Onari is the third member of Takeru's trio of friendship and looks at Takeru as something of a little brother. Even though Onari is a bit more melodramatic than his Takeru and Akari, he has a heart of gold and is always willing to help anyone in need, falling in line with his ambition to one day inherit his family's shrine and becoming a priest to help guide wayward souls and to help console the living. He holds a sense of adventure and is usually the one who'll go with his gut feeling than the others. On the day of Takeru's 18th birthday, and Takeru's later death by the Katana gamma, Onari was left devastated at the death of the boy he had come to love as a little brother and blamed himself for not being able to protect him, but was simply overjoyed when said boy was returned to the living plane thanks to Edith. Unlike Takeru and Akari, Onari takes in everything about the gamma and eyecons fully, wishing to do whatever he can to assist his best friend in saving the world. Armed with both his spiritual knowledge and teachings, he helps support Takeru against the weaker gamma.

Kanon Fukami

Description: Kanon's backstory is similar to Makoto where they both awakened in the gamma world without any previous memories aside from each other being siblings. She too was taken in by the royal family and stayed within the capital alongside her brother. While Makoto soon joined the military, Kanon remained a civilian of the capital but is close to the royal family, especially Alain & Alia. Although Makoto tries initially to keep her mostly in the dark regarding the truth of what he and the other gammas are doing in the living world, she isn't stupid and soon catches on to the truth and speaks up against it to her brother and close friends. While Makoto is willing to do what needs to be done for what he sees as the greater good, Kanon is a much more peaceful soul who while she doesn't want anyone to get hurt, has a small fire in her and will do what she can for those she loves. Kanon serves as something of the "heart" to her brother, Alain & even Takeru's group once her and her brother join them.

Princess Alia

Description: Alia is the only daughter of king Adonis, the 2nd child of the royal family and is the royal princess of the gamma world. Unlike her older brother Adel; who sees humans as beneath their kind, and her younger brother Alain; who sees a majority of humanity as this at first but still holds great curiosity and intrigue for them, she is merely indifferent to humans as she doesn't view them either positively or negatively. To Alia, she views humans in a similar way that we view our pets, she does care for them to a degree but doesn't acknowledge them as on the same level as gamma and especially shinigami. Alia is very loyal to her family, standing by them through thick and thin, especially when it comes to her younger brother Alain who she has an almost motherly relationship with. She takes her job as a shinigami quite seriously and wants to do whatever she can to help guide lingering souls to peace along with protecting her world. Although she is often very soft spoken and reserved most of the time, she carries with her an aura of wisdom and strength that goes far beyond her appearance.

Fumi Fukushima

Description: Fumi Fukushina is an old woman who owns a local food stand by the park, her most famous dish being Takoyaki. Takeru and the others would usually pass her by and she helps give them advice while they eat. And one day, she becomes an injured Alain and treats him. Since, he would often go see her in secret. Later, she discovers that Alain isn't normal but that doesn't matter or change anything for her. While being a sweet old lady, she is mostly laid back with a free spirit and wishes for other people's happiness.

Edith

Description: Edith is the mysterious sage who appeared before Takeru when he was killed by the first Ganma that he encountered and presented him with the power to become Kamen Rider Ghost & fight against the Ganma. He states that he was once someone who faced the Gamma before in the past as a Kamen Rider. Though he managed to thwart the Gamma in his time, he was unable to gather the required 15 eyecons and as such was unable to return to life completely. Yet knowing the threat of the Ganma would return one day, he waited patiently for them to be able to support the current Kamen Rider in defeating them once & for all. At least...that's the story he tells Takeru and the others, as although he comes off as a friendly & jovial person most of the time, there is an aura of secrecy that always seems to linger around him. He provides useful information on the Gamma and the powers/mechanics of the eyecons to aid Takeru and the others in their battle against the ghostly invaders, serving as something of within the group.

Villains

Grand Imperial Majesty Adonis

Description: The ruler of the gamma world, head of the royal family and the leader of all shinigami. Adonis is one of the oldest existing lesser(none deity) beings within the dimensions and is also one of the most powerful as he rules over his kingdom with utmost authority. However, despite what his usually stone-faced appearance and outward personality may imply, Adonis is in actuality a kind and benevolent ruler, always thinking of his people first and foremost and how to ease their suffering and sorrow so they may pass on into the afterlife. This kindness is not lost to his family either, as though he may be a bit strict with his children in their duties as shinigamis, he dearly loves his children with all of his heart and wants nothing more than the best for them and to be the best they can be. When Adonis realizes that the gamma world is slowly "dying" and understanding the massive consequences to such a thing happening, he concocts a plan to send a specialized unit into the living world and to obtain 15 of the heroic eyecons in order for them to perform a ritual that will restabilize their world. Though a good man he may be, if it means for the greater good, Adonis will harden his resolve and commit evil if it means saving all.

Prince Adel

Description: Adel is the first child & son of king Adonis as well as the first prince of the gamma world. Adel is the classic archetype of what one would imagine a royal prince to be; smug, cocky, arrogant and feels as though he and his family are above all else. However, what Adel differs from others in this regard is his attitude towards his duty as a shinigami. In Adel's eyes, it is their duty as beings of death itself to enforce their authority over all souls who enter their domain-the gamma world-and it is because they are the royal family that they must do all in their power to ensure that the balance of the dimensions is maintained. It is because of this that he fully accepts and supports his father's decision to use humans from the world of the living in order to find the 15 heroic eyecons that they need. In Adel's eyes, the lives/well-being of a few insignificant creatures is an almost nonexistent price to pay for the balance of the dimensions. This high and mighty attitude transfers even towards his own siblings, as he views himself the superior child when compared to his other siblings, though he does truly love them as much as he can. Despite his high and mighty attitude, Adel is actually harboring a deep pain as he still mourns the death of his mother-the only member of his family he loved absolutely & the only person he felt truly understood him-who he lost at a young age and secretly would do anything in order to bring her back into his life.

Gyro

Description: Gyro is the head of King Adonis's elite royal guards, and is known-and feared-by many to be the strongest warrior not only under service to the royal family today, but ever. Gyro is a man of few words, only really voicing his thoughts when called upon by his king or another member of the royal family. Gyro is shown to not only be fiercely loyal to the royal family, but to also be extremely protective of them as well as if he even thinks someone is posing as a possible danger to his masters, he will quickly move into action and neutralize them on the spot. Although one would think he is nothing more than a simple brute, Gyro is anything but, as his keen instincts & intelligence make him a cunning adversary on the battlefield who can pick apart his opponent's abilities and then pick them apart in combat. To say that he is the ace of the royal family is nothing short of obvious, but most of his time is spent by his king's side, patiently awaiting his orders.

Igor

Description: Igor serves the royal family as the royal Grand Vizier of King Adonis, making him the one who ensures that the laws and rulings of his king are followed to the letter and those acting against his majesty's will within the gamma world are apprehended and persecuted, making him a trusted ally to Adonis and his family. Igor is without a doubt the most devout and fiercely loyal member of the gamma royal court towards the king. He sees it the duty and honor of lesser beings like him and other gamma to serve under such a divine being as the king. Igor's loyalty to his king is so strong, that he would take something as a simple mistake or a harmless joke to Adonis as a direct insult to his majesty and insist the offender be held accountable. And he sees any act of defiance or betrayal to his king's will to be nothing short of blasphemy and the person in question deserving nothing less than death. Although he is not exactly best suited for combat like the other members of the royal court, this doesn't mean he is weak by any means as what he lacks in raw power he makes up for in his cunningness and ingenuity.

Jabel

Description: Jabel is the Grand General of the royal family's military forces and was Makoto's & later Alain's mentor. Jabel is a man who on his outward appearance comes off as a calm and dignified commander. However, that is nothing more than a mask that he wears to hide the fact that he is a bit of a blood knight at his core, and enjoys the rush and thrill of combat. Jabel utterly relishes the act of fighting against strong adversaries, as he looks at it as a type of training to himself in order to become stronger and also to prove his own capabilities. Though he is a loyal servant of the royal family and will hunt down and eliminate any enemy they tell him to, he will do his best savor the battle and on some occasions-if he finds potential within his enemy-attempt to keep them alive with the hope that they come back stronger and give him a better fight later if the battle is on his own time. Despite his almost barbaric love of battle, Jabel also carries with him a surprising level of discipline when it comes to orders from his masters as if order to eliminate an individual he will forsake his own desire to enable a better fight later to follow his orders.

Chikara Saionji

Description: The head of research of & development within the kingdom of the gamma world. A mysterious and often quiet individual, Saionji is the one responsible for creating the gamma eyecons that the gamma use in order to enter the world of the living and later possess a human vessel. Unlike the other powerful figures serving under the royal family, Saionji is not really much of a fighter, but is more suited to observe and learn from behind the scenes. Though they are enemies within this war, he seems to have a strange interest in Takeru that goes beyond him simply being Kamen Rider Ghost.

The Gammas

Description: Gamma is a general term for human souls who have died & can't pass on into the afterlife, and therefore end up in the dimension of wayward souls-the gamma world-where they stay until they can accept their fate and pass on. In order for the Gamma to come into the world of the living, they need an eyecon which acts as a sort of tether to the dimension. However, in order for them to physically interact with anything within the world of the living, the Gammas must merge their eyecon with a human and possess them. While possessing a human, a Gamma can assume a stronger "combat form" that takes the form of something connected to their vessel. When in their combat forms, Gammas can summon lesser beings from their energy called Gamma Shades-or simply Shades-that serve them as grunts. Not all Gamma need to possess a human in order to interact with the living world as strong Gammas can create their own physical forms and even assume their own combat forms through the use of an upgraded gamma eyecon which allows them to efficiently channel their energy through.
