Thought I try a genderbend story and try to guess what some characters might act like if they were the opposite gender. And since we need a representative of our reaction, I picked Naruto.

The moment 12-Year-Old Genin Uzumaki Naruto opened his eyes, he groaned in displeasure.

"Dammit, how did this even happen?" he grumbled.

The young body was currently controlled by veteran Jinchuriki and 7th Hokage Uzumaki Naruto from decades in the future. He was checking up on mail from one of Jiraya's old contacts when he accidentally activated an ancient seal, which apparently sent him to the past, or at least a powerful Tsukiyomi.

"You in there, Kurama?" he asked his partner mentally.

"..."

"Kurama-"

"How did you learn that name, boy?" The nine-tailed fox snarled. "Who told you? And since when are you aware of me-"

Naruto blocked the incoming rant. "Great, not only I'm stuck in the past, but I'm stuck with a Kurama that doesn't even trust me." He shook his head and looked at the worn-out calendar. Based on the date, he arrived just when the new genin's were assigned to their teams.

"I'll be on a team with Sasuke, Sakura, and Kakashi-sensei again," he smiled fondly. "Well, since I'm here, I might as well try to do things different. Get Sasuke to open up from that avenger mentality, try to get Sakura to chill out on her massive crush and start training, probably ask Hinata a few years earlier, get that fate-stick out of Neji's ass and make sure he lives, along with Jiijii and Pervy-Sage…" his plans made out, he quickly ate breakfast (making sure to avoid that spoiled milk), grabbed his Konoha headband, and rushed out his window.

"Let's see…" Naruto said to himself as he ran to the academy door. "The first thing that happened was… me talking to Shikamaru. Easy enough. Alright, Uzumaki Naruto, let's make things-"

CRASH

"Ow!/Ahh!"

The young Hokage's train of thought was stopped when he crashed into someone, sending both of them to the floor.

"Yow!" he groaned, rubbing his head. "The hell was that for-" what Naruto was about to say next was when he saw who he crashed into.

The boy was twelve and slightly taller than him. But he easily stood out with his red quipo shirt, brown shorts and sneakers, and choppy short pink hair.

"Ow, watch where you're going," the pink-haired boy groaned as he copied Naruto's action, before looking up and freezing in place. "O-oh, Uzumaki, right?" he asked, looking at the blonde with startled green eyes. "I thought you failed."

"Uh, secret graduation test," Naruto quickly fibbed while getting to his feet, a little weirded out by the boy's familiar appearance. "Hey, are you by any chance related to a… Haruno Sakura?"

"Actually my name is Haruno Sakurai," the boy said, getting up and stiffly holding out his hand, more out of polite habit than genuine friendliness. "Though I'm an only child, actually."

"Yeah, I see," Naruto said as he cautiously accepted the boy's hand.

"This is one weird world. Why is Sakura a boy here?" he cleared his head and looked straight at the boy, noticing that instead of the annoyance like the Sakura at this point in time would look at him with, Sakurai was staring at him with caution, clearing thinking about whatever warning his parents gave him about Naruto, like so many other kids at that age.

"Man, I completely forgot about the fact that most of the villagers thought I was the Kyuubi, and their kids copied their hate without knowing why." Despite that memory, Naruto smiled.

"Hey, don't be so nervous," Naruto said, startling the pink-haired boy. "Sure I might be a bit of a troublemaker, but I'm a graduate like you." He gestured to the headband on his forehead. "Besides, we'll be working as Konoha genins. We gotta trust each other."

Sakurai looked at him in confusion for a few seconds before nodding. "Sure thing, Uzumaki-kun. You seem a lot more mature than a few days ago."

"Ah, come on," Naruto laughed as the two entered the class. "Don't be so formal, Sakurai. Just call me Naruto."

"If you insist- oh!" the pink-haired boy suddenly stopped at the door.

"Something wron-" Naruto started, before Sakurai practically teleported from his side to another familiar blonde.

"Good morning, Ino-chan," Sakurai happily greeted the female Yamanaka Ino.

"Oh, hi there, Sakurai," Ino greeted happily.

A slight blush came onto the pinkette's face. "I-it's nice to see you again. Do you have any idea who you're teammates will be?"

Ino didn't notice his blush as she let out an exaggerated groan. "Yeah, it'll be the same Ino-Cho-Shika trio like our dads. I'm fine with Cho-chan, but with that lazy bum Shikamaru? No thanks!"

"Don't worry, Ino-chan!" Sakurai cheered. "You'll be able to whip that punk to shape!"

Ino laughed. "You always know what to say, Sakurai."

His face was now as pink as his hair. "T-thank you for that, I-ino-chan."

Naruto gaped at the spectacular before him. "What the-" he muttered under his breath "Sakurai's even worse with Ino than I was with Sakura. Why is- oh, right, those two were childhood friends. But why is Ino normal like I am? And who's Cho-"

"Heh, troublesome," Naruto turned and saw Shikamaru (still a guy, apparently) standing next to him. "Guy doesn't realize Ino will never see him as more than a friend. He should move on for his own sake."

"Yeah," Naruto nodded in understanding. "The truth about puppy love. So cute yet so pitiful."

Shikamaru raised an eyebrow at that. "You're one to talk, Naruto."

Naruto blinked. Even if the comment was more of a fact than an insult, it still struck Naruto. Given that Sakura was a guy here, that would mean the Naruto of this world has a crush on someone else. It can't be Ino since Sakurai had no previous hostility with him, which leaves only one girl: Hinata.

(Sure they are other girls in his class, but she, Sakura, and Ino were the only ones that stood out in his memories)

"I guess. Say, where's Hinata?"

Now it was Shikamaru's turn to be confused. "Who?"

"Hi-na-ta," Naruto pronounced each syllable. "You know, a really cute wallflower type, very quiet, sits at the back, the Hyuuga Heiress…"

"Unless you mean Hinato's little sister, in which you're very off, then I have no idea who you're talking about."

"Hinato, who's Hinato-"

"Good morning, Naruto-kun," a pleasant boyish voice said from behind. Naruto quickly turned around to see the most terrifying of sights.

The boy before him had short dark blue hair, was wearing a tan fur parka over his chest and long baggy pants, and had eyes with a pupil of pure lavender.

"Excited to learn who will be your new teammates?" the male Hyuuga Hinata asked.

"Hinata… is a boy," Naruto thought in pure horror. "My wife is a boy, and I'm still a straight male. What kind of crazy universe is this?!"

"Is everything ok?" the male Hyuuga asked.

"Hell if I know, Hinato," Shikamaru dryly said. "It is Naruto after all."

"Yo, what's up with whiskers?" A more crass voice demanded.

"Everything alright?" a polite girlish voice asked

Naruto, in his surprised state, slowly turned his head around and saw Kiba with puppy Akamaru on his head and an unfamiliar girl walking towards them. The girl was what Naruto could best described as a pale-skinned, brown-haired version of Boruto's classmate Akamichi Chocho. So it didn't take long for him to realize the plump girl wearing a green open shirt, white scarf, and a blue cap with openings for a pair of pigtails was a girl Akamichi Choji.

"Hey, Hinato," the wild boy said, ribbing the composed heir's rib. "What's eating him?"

"I'm not sure, Kiba-kun," Hinato replied as he gently pushed the other boy's hand away in what looked like a habit. "He's been acting strange for a while."

"Was it another rejection, Naruto?" the lone girl of the gathering asked sympathetically while tossing a few barbecue chips in her mouth.

"Eh, probably was, Chocho," Shikamaru said with a shrug. "Naruto's way too stubborn to just give up on her."

Chocho sighed. "You could stand to be a bit more supportive, Shikamaru."

"Don't go nagging on me, Cho. I get enough from my mother and Ino."

Naruto watched the scene in pure shock. "What's with this crazy world?! It'll make more sense if everyone was the opposite gender," he swivelled his head and saw that Aburume Shino was still a guy, or at least looked like one under that hoodie. "But somehow just Sakura, Choji, and Hinata got changed while everyone else is the same? That doesn't make sense! Who else is different? Kakashi-sensei? Pervy-sage? Granny? "

"Naruto-kun?" Boy Hinata - Hinato if he heard Shikamaru right- asked.

"Uh," Naruto let out, stepping backwards. "I'm fine!" he shouted. "I, I just drank some bad milk! I just need a few minutes and-"

"Naruto-kun!" Hinato suddenly yelled. "Look out! She's behi-"

It was too late as Naruto stumbled into another person, sending them tumbling to the floor

"Yah!/Kyaa!" he shouted as he heard a girlish shriek behind him.

"Ah!' Naruto quickly got to his feet and held out a hand to the girl. "Sorry about that-" he paused when he got a good look at her. "No way…"

The girl was quite cute in appearance, wearing a baggy, long-sleeved blue shirt with a collar reaching up her neck. She wore knee-length white pants, blue open-toed shoes, and a blue-and-white knee brace. She had long black hair, with a tuff on the back that reminded him of a duck's butt.

"Is that… girl Sasuke?" he thought in surprise.

The girl scowled at him and swap his hand away as she got onto her feet. "I don't need your help, Dobe."

"Yep, it's Sasuke alright. All young, brooding, and fratricidal… or is Itachi a girl here..."

"That's just rude, Sayuri," he heard Chocho reprimand behind him.

Sayuri glared back with an icy sight. "He got into my personal space, Akimichi. He should learn by now to leave me alone." With that she walked to her seat.

Chocho shook her head in disappointment. "That girl."

"Ice cold bitch as alway," Kiba added.

Hinato frowned. "Kiba-kun-"

"You know I'm not wrong, Hinato! Seriously, Naruto," he turned to the blonde. "Why of all the girls to crush on you pick her?"

Wait, what?

"Wait, what?" Naruto asked. "I have a crush on Sas- Sayuri?"

The four looked at him in shock in his statement. "Yes, you do," Hinato answered, with worry in his tone. "You had one since we started the academy."

"Wha-why?!"

"Naruto, I barely understand why my dad fell in love with a troublesome woman," Shikamaru gripped. "You think I want to try and dissect how your weird crush works."

"Yeah, you certainly know how to pick them," Kiba chuckled. "The only girl no one else would be after."

"Wait, what do you mean?" Naruto asked. "Isn't she the last Uchiha? Shouldn't she be super popular?"

"Geeze, biased, aren't ya?"

"She really doesn't act like one would expect from an heiress, does she?" Chocho commented. "Cold, harsh, and abrasive. Not the lovely maiden I know most of you boys prefer," she popped another chip in her mouth.

"Honestly, I think the reason you went after her is because you are both pariahs," Hinato said. "Though I admit that sympathy is what makes you special."

"... I'm in a world where I have a crush on Girl Sasuke. Why is that a thing…"

"Naruto?" Hinato asked, only to see Naruto vanish.

"Seriously, what's wrong with him today?" Kiba snarked. "And since when can he flashstep? Have you guys been teaching him secret tricks again?"

Omake:

Naruto rushed out of the Academy, hoping to clear his head of the crazy revelation.

'I'm in a world where some of my friend's genders got mixed up. I'm in a world where the love of my life is a boy. I'm in a world where my best friend is a girl, and my younger self has a crush on her. Why is that a thing?!'

"CRASH!"

"Watch it!" Naruto found himself stopped by the male Hyuuga Neji's stiff back.

"Neji! You're alive! And normal!" Naruto cheered.

The Hyuuga prodigy narrowed his eyes. "Who are you? How do you know my name-"

"Listen, Neji!" Naruto grabbed his shoulders. "You gotta stop being a dick to Hinata. I get that you are angry about your dad's death. But it's not her fault. She really is a good and strong girl once you know her-"

"Who are you even talking about-"

"And stop blabbering about fate. You don't always have to keep talking about some abstract thing just to get back at the Hyuuga clan. Heck, Hinata- I mean Hinato- is against the Birdcage Seal. You can talk to her-him about it and work together to free the Hyuuga clan from-" he suddenly paused in surprise when he realized how furious the other boy was.

"First off, the inner workings of my clan is none of your business. And second, if you are aware of who Hinato is, you know I would have no need to associate with that failure-" it took every inch of restraint in Naruto not to punch him here and there. "And, third-"

"There you are, Neji-kun~" a cheerful, girlish voice cried out.

Running towards the two was a girl with a girlish black bowl cut, bushy eyebrow, and a skin-tight green bodysuit that hugged her firm arm and leg muscles and her developing curves

"Is that… Girl Bushy Brows?!"

"What do you want, Lei," Neji gripped out in annoyance.

"Guy-sensei sent myself and Tenten-kun to find you," the girl happily replied, unfazed by her teammates' attitude. She then noticed the paralyzed Naruto behind him. "Oh, and who is this youthful soul?"

"Uh…." Naruto stuttered out.

"Probably from this year's graduates," Neji replied dryly. "Now, did you came by yourself,

"There you guys are," a boy wearing a gray battle shirt and loose brown pants said. His long brown hair was tied in a short ponytail behind him.

"Slow as always, Tenten," Neji coldly stated.

The boy merely rolled his eyes. "And critical as always, Neji."

"Now, now, you two?" Lee perked up. "Teammates should not fight, they should stand together in the name of YOUTH, just as Guy-sensei says! Right, young boy?"

Lee didn't get her answer as Naruto fainted on the spot.

"Oh no!"

"What did you do to him, Lee?!"

"How annoying."

'Strangest… world… ever…'
