Hi, here's somehow a multi-chapter story. It's just, I wanted to post the whole in one but it's too much of it and where's the fun if I do anyway?

That story takes place probably somewhere in the non-existent s2, I would set around the last episodes of the season. Kind of a sappy, drama soap opera, but we do need this from time to time, I've been nice enough in my recent stories ;)

I hope you'll enjoy and don't hate on my English, we're all in quarantine, take a break from the hate.

September 2014

A few days after Jo and Henry's first meet.

She was sitting in her living room with a ton of different newspapers from a few days ago when that subway crash happened and when she crossed paths with, the weirdest, creepiest, most unusual person she ever met.

And weirdly enough (pun intended), he has been very helpful on that first case, much more than anyone else could have been in the 10 years she was a cop.

But something was off, something she knew wasn't really normal, she knew it, she saw it and she was going to put all the pieces together starting from today. She looked at the mess she made and sighed.

- I saw you got shot, I saw you jumped off that roof. Nobody could have survived all of this together and coming back without one single wound. You didn't tell me your whole story Henry Morgan and one day… One day I'll get to the bottom of it.

Present-day

It has been a very pouring day in NYC, and it was one of these days when the 11th had to run behind every suspect.

The kind of day where everybody was looking forward to going home. Luckily, they had Henry to help them solve every case, and take a break at the end of the day.

The case had wrapped up next to Jo's neighborhood and she gave Hanson her go to take the killer back to the station with her car, as she would walk back to her place to take a very needed shower. Henry was with them, as per usual and seemed pretty upset to have his expensive clothes being all wet and kind of covered with mud. Jo titled her head to the side and offered him to walk with her to her place so he would be able to take a shower. He at first declined it but she insisted.

- Henry! I've been watching you for the past couple of minutes and knowing you if you aren't cleaning yourself right away, you're going to lose it, so just come with me.

He gave her a sarcastic look but took on her offer.

When they reached Jo's doorstep, the rain was pouring even more and now they were completely all soaking wet since they had walked to Jo's home. She was very amused with the situation but Henry not as much. She kept laughing when they climbed the stairs and managed to open the door, sharing Henry's jacket to try and cover them but it turned out as a complete failure since the rain was really heavy, and Henry kept groaning about it like he's never been wet before. And she called him out about it.

- Oh, come, Henry, stop being a baby, you always take dips in the river, no matter the weather so a little rain isn't going to harm your poor little soul.

Henry refrained the urge to roll his eyes. She had a teasing smile, she was all wet, her hair was entirely curly with the water, her face was glowing like he never saw it before. She was happy, happy because she was with him at that very moment and happy they had run home in the rain. He had no doubt, this was one of her visions of a romantic date. He chased that thought away, he needed to focus, but how could he with such a beautiful woman standing in front of him? His eyes drifted toward her wet lips and he only wanted to do just one thing.

Jo dragged him inside and handed him a towel

- Here! The bathroom's upstairs, I'll give you some clothes.

He looked all around her place. He never really did step in, she did invite him but he was too polite. This was cozy and nice and obviously way less expensive to where she used to live with Sean. Also, he was now closer to her, so he basically didn't have to take a cab home or she didn't need to give him a lift but she still didn't mind. This was always a good excuse for them to spend more time together. And they have been spending a lot of time together lately like they were having lunches every day outside the 11th and most of the time Henry was dragging her with him to the shop for dinner… Still, they weren't dating, yet. But the flirting was on point and frustrating to everyone else around them.

He followed her upstairs as she showed him the bathroom.

- The towels are in the cabinet, I'll come back with the clothes.

He noticed the slight blush she had on her cheeks when she left the room, probably because he was basically invading her privacy and he was about to get shirtless because he wouldn't stand one more second, wearing these dirty clothes on top of him. When she came back, he was as planned, shirtless and her face flustered even more. She tried to look at him in the eye but she couldn't. She gulped and walked toward him with a pile of clothes in her arms.

- Here! They were Sean's, they might be a bit too large for you but they should do.

Henry stared at the clothes and slowly raised his eyes to look at her

- Jo… I… these were…

She cut him off

- Henry! I don't mind! If this would have bothered me, I wouldn't give them to you! Besides, I'm barely in touch with my brother, so not like I have any other male clothes in here so take them, trust me I'm fine with it.

He slowly removed them from her hands and smiled

- Thank you! I'll take good care of them!

She nodded, trying not to look that aroused by his muscular body

- I'm sure you will! Take your time, I'll make some tea, join me when you're done!

###

Jo could smell his shampoo when he joined her in the kitchen and saw her figure sitting at the counter. She had the two cups ready and was slowly drinking hers. When he sat in front of her, she stared at him for a couple of minutes and smiled.

- I knew the clothes would fit! They look great on you!

- As you said, they're a bit large but other than that, yes, they are indeed, fine!

The sexual tension felt the room as they both drank their tea. Jo was still wet and Henry really had issues thinking straight. She was sexy as hell.

Their fingers were nervously gripping their cups like they wanted to tell each other something but none of them dared to speak. Henry was the first to do it as usual.

- Jo! You might want to go and take that shower before you catch a cold.

She softly laughed

- Look at you being all doctor with me!

- I'm just saying!

She rose up from her seat and poked her tongue at him

- Don't worry! I'm going! While I do so, make yourself at home.

He shook his head. If she wasn't holding him tonight, no one could tell if he ever was going to go home. He smiled. She would be the end of him, literally! But he liked it.

His curiosity got the best of him and he took his cup and walked into her living room. She was as messy as she was at work but he could tell she was making a lot of effort to try and be tidy.

If he ever gathered the courage to ask her out, they would argue a lot over this. This and her food choices.

He couldn't help but look at all the pictures she had on top of a small fireplace.

The frames were filled with her family but he didn't see her father, which wasn't a surprise. There was a picture with her two siblings, and all three looked alike. In another corner, she had put a picture of two young twins and considering the resemblance with her sister, he had no doubt they were her kids. At the last corner, there was a family's picture with her mom in the middle and he smiled at how much Jo looked like her. Her mom seemed strong and totally like the kind, where you shouldn't mess with her children.

Just by the pictures, Henry could tell Jo was the youngest, her brother seemed close or just a bit above the age people were giving him. Her sister wasn't much older than Jo, he gave them three years apart, at best.

He walked around and looked at the decorations. She was messy but she had quite good tastes when it comes to decorating and she knew how to do it.

He noticed she seemed to have either take down most of Sean's pictures or she was hiding them but so far, he only saw one next to the others and it was the same one she has been keeping on her desk ever since he met her.

He wasn't stupid, he noticed she stopped wearing her necklace… Maybe she was ready to move on and try something with him but was just waiting for him to make a move, as he was waiting for her to do something. He sighed. If they were both stubborn, they would go nowhere.

Once she would be off the bathroom, he would talk to her and see what they could do… He knew he had a lot to tell her but first things first.

As he walked back to the kitchen to wash his cup, he tripped against a piece of metal of what seemed to be a leg. He was going to let it go after swearing in different languages in his head about how much this hurt until he noticed a picture on the ground. Must have felt from the said board. He was going to pin it back to wherever it was but remained dumbfounded when he realized it was a picture of himself… From one of the video surveillance minutes before the subway crash a year ago.

He looked at it in disbelief. Why would a picture from that day be in Jo's home? He looked at the board. Maybe this wasn't his business, maybe he shouldn't put his nose in her private stuff. But this was still his picture and this was still related to their first case together with where he was first taken as a suspect.

So, he slowly pushed the board on the side, and what he saw behind it completely baffled him. The picture fell from his hand, as he faced a wall full of pictures of himself, with question marks everywhere. Jo did a very good job of hiding the said wall with her board. He wouldn't even have noticed it if it wasn't for his clumsiness.

He stood frozen in front of that wall that was basically a biography of his life ever since Jo walked into it.

Each picture was somehow related to one of his deaths. Their first case was pretty much the heart of… The investigation. This was it… Jo has been investigating behind his back, all this time.

The wall was full, she had a lot of questions, she had put some pieces here and there. The last picture was a printed copy of the one she found back at the station a few months ago.

His brain couldn't process all of this.

- Henry!

Hearing his voice somehow made his blood boiled. He gritted his teeth. He closed his eyes. This wasn't going to be any good for her.

Jo had no idea the bomb Henry would throw at her and casually walked into the living room, he smelled her vanilla's shampoo from miles away. She was still in a good mood.

- Hey, I was thinking since you're here that maybe before you head home we could just…

She stopped in the middle of her tracks when she joined him and noticed his figure standing in front of the wall. She didn't need him to face her to know he was already upset. His back was tensed and she could imagine what he was currently thinking. Maybe if she tried to cool down things before they were exploding, Henry would understand. She slowly walked behind him.

- Huh… Henry… I

He turned around so fast to face her that she got scared. He had a face she wasn't used to seeing. She gasped. She was in trouble.

- You've been investigating on me all this time!

This wasn't a question. He was straight to the point and not like she really had any way of denying this. She bit on her lips.

- Look it's not what you think…

He folded his arms against his chest and raised one eyebrow.

- Then what is it, Jo? Hmm? It's not a wall full of myself, with you questioning yourself?

She heard the anger in his voice. Except for the few times she was in danger or people were getting all over him, she never heard him sound so frustrated and she knew it was bad.

She tried to explain. She owed him this at least.

- Look… I know it looks bad! But it's not! I didn't mean to hurt you… I was just… I was just trying to understand a couple of things!

- By investigating behind my back?

She glared at him

- Well… You weren't telling me anything, you've been avoiding every talk about your past and I'm your partner. I wanted to make sure who I was working with.

Henry wasn't buying it. Also, now he couldn't think straight because the only woman he had fallen for just stabbed him in the back. Deep down, he knew she probably didn't mean it in a bad way but at the moment, he was too angry to think clearly.

- You could just have asked me, Jo, instead of going and…

Jo was now overwhelmed with her own negative emotions

- And what? Being a cop?

- Exactly! I've never thought about you this way! Why didn't you just simply ask me if you wanted to know about my story?

Jo wondered if he was serious

- All right, you've always been so secretive, Henry. I always confess to you, and I barely get anything in return. I'm just curious and I just wanted to understand. I know you're hiding something, I know you do, you always avoid the subject. You never ever mentioned that picture again, you do everything to push it away and it's easy since we have a very busy job… You can't only blame me for this, I'm your partner, I just trusted your instincts from day one and I thought you would have put more faith in me.

Henry was so upset he didn't know what to say, what to think anymore. The shadow of Nora came back to his mind, and it just irritated him even more.

- I trusted you too!

Jo noticed the use of the past tense and her heart started racing, the kind of race that was leading to stress and anxiety. She knew a hole would soon take place inside of her.

He walked past her to reach the door. Jo felt her eyes filling up with tears but she didn't want to look weak and she didn't want to lose him. She ran behind him.

- Henry! I know you're upset about this! But I swear I didn't mean to hurt you!

- Well, it's too late Jo, it's done!

His hand was on the doorknob, Jo was on the verge of breaking down

- I told no one about this! You have the right to blame me and be mad at me, I understand this, in your position I would probably have felt the same! But I told nobody about this, no one knows what I've done, I wanted to work on this on my own and talk to you the day I would reach a conclusion…

He glared at her

- And did you ever find it?

Jo lowered her eyes

- I… no… But my point is…. Nobody else knows about this and I never intended to let them know. That investigation has always been personal. You know, if I wanted to talk about your eccentricities and everything you've done on the cases, I could have done it… but I never… So why don't you try and put yourself in my shoes, for a change?

His mind could hear she was telling the truth but all he could think about was how Nora's first told him she trusted him to end up locked up in a lunatic asylum. Now, this wasn't the same but close enough. He mumbled

- You betrayed me… Just like she did!

Jo frowned! He didn't speak low enough for her not to hear it. Who was he talking about?

- Henry, please… I'm sorry I…

He stared at her and turned around

- Thank you for the shower and clothes! I think… We should stay away from the other for a while. Goodbye Jo!

- Henry wait…

He quickly exited before she even had time to stop him. The rain didn't seem to bother him anymore and he jumped into the nearest cab.

Jo leaned on the door and burst into tears, her knees slowly giving up on hers. She had messed up and she was afraid she wasn't going to fix this one.

Author's note: I couldn't write this on my 1st author's note at the beginning, because it would have given the plot away. So this story was inspired by Alana De La Garza herself, lol. During an interview with Ioan Gruffud, she mentioned: "what if Jo just has a wall full of notes about Henry and she's been investigating on him from day one?" So honestly, this just tickled in my mind and I was like "yesss, definitely" and judging by the look on Ioan's face, he was totally into the idea as well. So I've decided to give it a take myself, hopefully, it's good enough to make it work.

And usually, I set Jo's place to Washington Heights like she was in the show, but it's clear enough unless you're all completely blind, she moved away after that case involving Sean. The whole neighborhood is completely different, so she's obviously not there anymore. Anyway, so I have a personal headcanon because my shipper side can't help it, in which Jo just moved closer to Henry and Abe's, so she would have a perfect excuse to give him a lift for work ;). And also because on episode 21, truth to be told, we don't even know if Henry walked to her place or took a cab, but she told him where she lived, and I made my own theories where she's just not far from him anymore.

Sorry about the long rant but yeah, needed to explain some bits. I hope y'all don't hate me too much with the contrast I've put between the beginning and the end of the chapter ;).

There's probably won't be more than 2-3 chapters though, I didn't have that much to write but I'm evil so I wasn't going to post it all in one chapter ;)
