I shot my head up and gasped as her eyes started fluttering open. As soon as I saw her soft brown eyes I started tearing up again.

"Jake?" she mumbled as she tried to sit up.

"I'm here" I smiled as I stopped her from moving.

"where am I?"

"the hospital. do you remember what happened?"

"yeah" she mumbled as she tried to keep her eyes open.

"did you drink the water?"

"what?" I furrowed my eyebrows.

"the water I told you to drink that morning. did you drink it?"

"no" I mumbled as I avoided her gaze.

"I knew you wouldn't" She smiled as she finally began to come around.

"I'm gonna slit your throat"

"god I missed you so much" I cried as I wrapped my arms around her. She smiled and put her arms around my neck.

"how long have you been here?" She asked as she looked around the room.

"Every day"

"you should have gone home. I would have been fine" she rolled her eyes as she sat up despite my efforts to stop her.

"I guess you heard" she gestured to her stomach.

"yeah. why didn't you tell me when you found out?"

"I don't know. I was terrified" she admitted as she fumbled with her hands.

"Megs. I love you, so so much and this is the most amazing news ever" I assured her as I planted a kiss to her forehead.

"I don't deserve you" she sighed as she rested her head on my chest.

"your hearts beating fast" she chuckled.

"I was overcome with so many emotions. I was so happy and excited she was finally awake, I couldn't stop crying.

"don't cry" she smiled as she brought her head up and wiped my tears with her thumb.

"why are you crying?" she frowned when the tears wouldn't stop.

"I'm just so happy. Ive been lying here for the past 10 days begging you to wake up. I'm so excited to be a dad"

She smiled and rested her forehead on mine as she ran her fingers through my hair. I wrapped my arms around her and pulled her as close as she could get.

"how is everyone?" she mumbled into my neck.

"they're good. They all miss you" I started. "Annie and Jeremy came to visit earlier today"

"She lifted her head up with confusion. "Jeremy came?"

"yeah. he said he wanted to make sure you were okay" I smiled.

"and he found the necklace" She smiled as she twisted the butterfly in her fingers.

"my mom used to call me her little butterfly because she said my personality was as bright as their wings" she explained as her eyes filled with tears. "I was so sad when I lost it. I thought for sure it was gone forever"

"shh its okay"

"you're awake" a nurse said as she walked in the room.

"when can I go home? I hate hospitals" She shrudded as she looked at the IV in her hand.

"I'll check but probably not for another day or two" she smiled sympathetically as she checked over the machines.

Meghan groaned and slumped back in the bed. "I hate hospitals. The weird smells, the sharp objects, the germs. Its disgusting" she grimaced.

"just a few more days. I'll be here to keep you company" I grinned as I shifted onto my side to face her. She rolled her eyes as she shifted onto her side to face me.

"you're so beautiful" I grinned as I ran my thumb over her cheekbones.

"ditto"
