Chapter 1: The Beginning

Lily and James Potter prided themselves as a witch and wizard. They are confident that they were the best at everything and everyone thought so too. They thought the perfect Potter family couldn't be more pure and innocent, however, they were wrong. There was a dark history behind the Potters and they were hiding it.

On July 31, 1979, Hadrian James Potter was born, healthy and big to Lily and James Potter. He was a beautiful baby boy, who looked exactly like his father but with his mother's emerald green eyes. He was a joy and Remus was proud to be the boy's godfather. Everyone adored the little boy who was quickly grabbing the attention of family and friends who visited frequently.

Just one year later on July 30, 1980, Jamie Liam Potter was born in St. Mungos. He had his mother's red hair and facial features but had his father's brown hazel eyes. Everyone adored him as well, he along with his brother was lavished with lots of gifts and well wishes. Companies endorsed their clothing and they were famous before they even realized. The Potters thought everything was perfect, they had two handsome boys, a nice home and financially stable, things couldn't get better. How wrong they were.

During the summer of 1980 before the new school year, Albus Dumbledore was searching for a suitable professor to fill in the Divination post. The previous professor, poor him, was driven mad by all his students and suddenly resigned in anger in the middle of the year. Albus was able to find a substitute for the rest of the year, however, that didn't last long either. Albus Dumbledore sighed deeply, things weren't going as planned. As he was filing away the last of his paperwork and awaiting in Hogs Head for the last applicant, a knock on his door came and he was surprised to see a tall woman with a fashioned robe, with beady eyes, big round glasses, and shawls wrapped around her at the door.

"Hello, you are here for the Divination post?" Dumbledore asked, gesturing for her to sit down. The woman gingerly sat down as though there was something she was expecting on her chair. Hmm, what a rather interesting person.

"Ah yes...My name is Sybill Trelawney. I wish to fill in as Divination professor, which is my specialty" the woman said in barely a whisper.

Dumbledore leaned forward and examined the young woman, "Hmm, tell me, have you ever made a prophecy before that was true?" Sybill wildly shook her head. Dumbledore sighed, "What relation got you to start Divination?"

Sybill launched into a short story, "I am a natural-born Seer. I started getting visions when I was 5, and of course, I am the descendent of the most renowned and celebrated Seer, Cassandra Trelawney. I have been studying Divination for 7 years now."

Dumbledore was yet convinced that Sybill Trelawney would be suitable for the Divination post. Obviously, for many reasons, anyone could stake claims to their ancestors but have no absolute proof. Dumbledore crossed his fingers, "Well what do you achieve on your Divination OWL and NEWT?"

Sybill wordlessly took out a file and slid it over the table. Albus wearily opened the profile and waved his wand over it to check for any altered false information. E for the OWLS and O in NEWTS. However, she did not have teaching experience which meant she was not fully suitable and experienced to become a professor.

Albus sighed and closed the file, "Thank you for your time, Sybill. You seem like a very nice person, with a great personality and such but I'm afraid I cannot allow you to fill in for the Divination post. So sorry."

Sybill was desperate, "Please Mr. Dumbledore, this is the last school who offers Divination. All I wish for is to teach the subject I love. Please." Albus turned around and gave her a sad smile, "Perhaps you would find better luck somewhere else. Good Day, Ms. Trelawney." Sybill defeated, slowly got up to her feet, picked up her suitcase and headed towards the door. Before she could reach the door, her eyes suddenly glazed over and stood in a weird trance-like state, her luggage dropped to the floor with a crash and Dumbledore shot out of his seat in a heartbeat.

"The one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord approaches... born to those who have thrice defied him, born as the seventh month dies... and the Dark Lord will mark him as his equal, but he will have power the Dark Lord knows not... and either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives... the one with the power to vanquish the Dark Lord will be born as the seventh month dies..."

Dumbledore's heart raced as he just witnessed a prophecy made in front of him, he was jolted up when he heard someone outside the door scurry away. Dumbledore grabbed his wand, wrenched open the door and turned around just to see the unmistakable greasy black hair disappear behind the bar door. Dumbledore sighed and walked back to the room to see Sybill Trelawney looking at him blankly, "Did I do something wrong?"

With millions of thoughts running in his mind Albus absentmindedly answered, "Not at all." He paused for a second, perhaps Sybill did have some talent. "On second thought, Ms. Trelawney, welcome to Hogwarts."

Sybill brightened up and eagerly shook hands with Albus, "Thank you so much, Professor Dumbledore. See you on September 1st!" With that said, Sybill bounced out of the private room and out of sight. Albus put both hands to his head in hopelessness, he had a lot of things on his hands.
