This is just a random idea I had, mostly because I need more Ephemer content in my life and apparently I have the power to make some. Pfft. That being said, I'm not familiar with high school AUs in the slightest, so feel free to send in some suggestions. I'll give you a shout out if I do it! Just don't send in anything that wouldn't be in a Disney movie- I'm not fetishing anything, I just want to have fun writing.
I figure I might pull in some inspiration from High School Musical and Life is Strange for this as well. Maybe throw in some other Disney movie tropes (especially from the DCOMs around 2000-2008). We'll see how it goes. Thank you for reading!
At this point, there were only two things annoying Anora: this stupid personality quiz, and the obnoxious refrain from 'The Tiki Room' getting stuck in her head. She didn't even like that song.

In the tiki, tiki, tiki, tiki room!
Anora bit her lower lip as she started to impatiently tap her pencil against the desk. How did she even get here? Daybreak Academy was a school for the kids destined to actually do something with their life. Anora herself didn't think she was anyone special- she liked rollerblading and ice skating, but nothing that could warrant an acceptance letter to one of the most prestigious schools in the country. Even if it was missing the point, Daybreak Academy didn't even have a place for rollerblading or ice skating. Not a single spot. Not legally, anyway.
What methods do you use to calm yourself from a stressful situation? Please give as much detail as possible.
In some way, Anora felt like she was lying on most of these answers. It was odd that these questions asked things she would have never considered in a personality test before. She expected to be asked her favorite color, the song she plays on repeat, or even the movies she wanted to watch. She didn't expect questions about knowing first aid, or imagining life or death scenarios.
Anora's body started to go into autopilot as she started to remember the moments leading up to this one. It all started a month ago when she got a letter from Daybreak Academy- she had never heard of the place before and (had it not been for the chauffeur that picked her up later that week) she never would have come to begin with. The gates of Daybreak Academy were incredibly intimidating. Later on, she decided that the building itself was worse. It didn't help that the most intimidating of the headmasters, Professor Aced, had greeted her in earnest.
Next thing Anora knew, she was sitting down in this very room, starting on the now nearly completed personality test. She didn't know where Aced went; she hoped he was right outside the door waiting for her.
Oh, that was right, this personality test was to see which house she would be placed in. Daybreak Academy had five houses: Vulpes, Leopardus, Ursus, Anguis, and Unicornus. Aced was the head of the Ursus house. Despite knowing that Aced was probably a pretty nice guy, Anora really, really hoped she wouldn't get placed in his house. She'd hate to see what he was like when he gets mad. Aced seemed the type to get mad very, very quickly.
Anora finally set down her pencil and looked over the test. She had finally finished the stupid thing. Good. Carefully, Anora got up from her seat and started for the door. Much to her relief, Aced was waiting for her right outside the door.
"Are you done?" he asked her in a rough voice. Anora gave an intimidated nod as she handing the test to him. The headmaster took the test from her, scanned over it for a moment, then looked back at her. "Please wait here," he then instructed, "You will be escorted to your new room by your house leader."
Anora gave a soft scoff in annoyance, but gave Aced an agreeing nod besides. The headmaster didn't seem to notice, taking his leave without another word. Anora didn't want to wait in the room alone again, so she decided to sit outside. This was probably a bad idea because now she could see the students pass by.
Suffice to say, there were a lot of students.
As Anora glanced around, she made the mistake of looking one of the students in the eye. It had been a girl with carrot-red hair held back into two low pigtails. The girl was with another girl with blonde hair and a boy with pink hair, but at the moment, she only had her attention on Anora. Anora could feel her face pale the longer the two of them held their gazes. Where new students that odd around here?
"Hello Anora." a voice said from next to Anora, shocking her for a moment. "My name is Professor Ava."
Anora gave an absent blink as she trained her eyes to Ava. She was almost then caught off guard by how young the professor seemed. Ava's smile was soft, perhaps anticipating some surprise at her perceived age.
"It is always a pleasure to have new members in the Vulpes house." Ava then went on. "Your things have already been delivered to your new room. We still have some points in the student orientation to go through- would you like to do them first, or would you like to unpack?"
"I..." Anora started to say, "I would like to finish the orientation."
"Wonderful!" Ava happily exclaimed. "Follow me then!"
Anora gave a small nod and did as she was told.
. . .
The rest of the student orientation had been exhausting. There had been a lot of paperwork, a lot of walking, and a lot more talking. Of course (and thankfully), Ava had done most of the talking. Anora didn't even think that she was that exhausted until she saw her new room. The area only had enough room for a double bed, a dresser, and an office desk. She grimaced before her eyes fell to her suitcase. Curious, she moved on over to the bed and opened the suitcase up- much to her relief, her in-line skates were right on top.
Anora gave a smile as she picked up her skates, then dug a bit further down for her music player. With them in hand, she started back out of her room and out of the dormitory. She didn't check to see if anyone was following her, she just needed to get out. Anora retraced her and Ava's previous steps to a slab of concrete near the trash bins behind the cafeteria. It was enough room, she was sure of it, and without second guessing herself, Anora switched her shoes for skates, turned on her music player, and started to skate around the concrete.
Skating felt a lot like flying if you closed your eyes.
As Anora slipped into serenity on her skates, she didn't notice that she was being watched. The carrot-red haired girl from before had happened to notice Anora leave the dorms. Curiosity struck her, so she followed Anora. Nothing prepared her for when Anora started to skate. It wasn't even anything impressive- the new girl had started at small at first before trying to skate backwards, and eventually trying to do some quick turns.
"I should talk to her." the carrot-red haired girl said to herself. But she quickly shook her head. "I can't do that," she then admonished, "She's new, and getting used to things. Besides… she looks happy." And with that, she looked back up at the new girl. She still wasn't aware that she was being watched. The girl with the carrot-red hair smiled at the new girl, but slowly started to leave.
"Hi." she said under her breath. "My name is Strelitzia, I hope we get the chance to actually talk to each other soon."
