Serious Poetry

"But our love it was stronger by far than the love
Of those who were older than we-
Of many far wiser than we-"

- 'Annabel Lee', Edgar Allan Poe

"My Baby doesn't love me no more," Dean cried.

"Any more," corrected Sam automatically, leading the brothers to roll their eyes at each other.

"I'm serious," said Dean lowering his voice and stepping closer so as not to be overheard. "Ever since that case with those classic cars, she's been off with me. I think she's jealous."

"Yeah, of course, because that makes total sense," said Sam, deadpan.

Dean's eyes widened and he tapped Sam on the chest. "I know, right? But what do I do about it?"

"I dunno, read her poetry or something?" Sam shrugged, holding up the slim volume he'd been reading in example.

"Sammy, you're a genius," cried Dean in excitement, patting his brother on the cheek before running off with the book.

"Everything's relative," Sam muttered under his breath. A moment later he heard Dean recite:

"And neither the angels in Heaven above
Nor the demons down under the sea
Can ever dissever my soul from the soul
Of my beautiful Impala, Baby;"

Sam heard the angry sound of a revving engine, followed by a back-fire.

"Yeah, maybe not something you've ripped off from Edgar Allen Poe," chuckled Sam, settling down to read another book.
