Michael, Cold Fire, Xena, and Brooklyn arrived back in nineteen ninety-four and Brooklyn was relieved to see that Demona was waiting for them near the hole in Matt's wall that was caused by Lucifer smashing through it while he was possessing Broadway. Michael cast a spell so know one would see them before Lucifer turned toward the window but shrugged before he began to speak to Demona again.
"What's it going to be mommy?" Broadway asked again. "I can't hear you. Are you asking me to please skin them? Well, okay if you insist." He appeared next to Angela and lifted her in the air by her throat. "Last chance." Demona struggled to raise her head up off the ground.
"Y…yes," Demona said weakly as Angela frantically shook her head no. Tears began to flow unhindered down her swollen cheeks and she repeated her answer more firmly. "Did you hear me…C'mon you son of a bitch. I said yes."
"Mother don't… umph…" Angela felt a sharp pain in her back as she was slammed back down. Broadway grinned at Demona. The gargoyles outside all began to growl but Michael advised them to be patient.
"I knew you'd warm up to me." Broadway laughed as the room began to glow a bright yellow. Angela and Matt covered their eyes and when the light finally faded they saw Demona completely healed and standing in the center of the room. "Yes, I can feel the power in this vessel. Now, we're going to have so much fun." She chuckled and began to leave.
"I will kill you. I don't care what it takes. Do you hear me you monster. I will rip your black heart out." Angela called out.
"Now, there's no call to be nasty." Lucifer smirked at her. "Oh, I almost forgot. Look, this isn't personal but I kind of made a deal with that fat lummox and well." She appeared next to them and lifted Matt. "It's really nothing personal, but I always keep my word." She said as she broke his neck before dropping him unceremoniously back to the ground. Demona went to leap forward but Michael quickly gripped her shoulder.
"If you attack now then you'll die. Be patient and we will make this right." Michael advised. Demona nodded but she continued to growl as she waited and watched what was happening.
"MATT!" Angela rushed forward to hold him as Demona disappeared. She cradled Matt in her arms, and she could feel the tears streaming down her cheeks and then fall onto him. "Matt, no please don't do this. You're going to be okay." She began to cry harder then. "Matt, no please don't do this. You're going to be okay." She became more desperate when Matt didn't respond. "Please wake up. Please." She begged until she saw Broadway begin to pick himself up off the ground.
"Where am I? What's going on?" He asked as he rubbed his head. Broadway saw what happened, but it felt like a dream to him.
"You did this." Angela growled deep in her chest. Her eyes burned bright red as she sat Matt gently back on the ground. "You and your jealousy cost me everything." She snarled. She slowly began to rise to her feet. Ignoring the pain in her back and the fact that she was undressed. Nothing mattered at that moment except getting revenge.
"I didn't do this." Broadway said in shock at her tone. At that moment Demona saw Goliath, Elisa, and her mother land next to the broken window before they stepped inside to speak with Angela. Demona fought the urge to run to Goliath, but the gritting of her teeth and her eyes flaring gave away her irritation at not being able to finally reveal the truth to him.
"You didn't let your jealousy control you? You didn't say yes to that fiend?" With her adrenaline-fueled anger Angela lifted him up and slammed him into the wall. Her claws dug into Broadway's chest and she raised her fist prepared to strike.
"Angela, drop him." Goliath called out to her.
"Back off father. He killed Matt. It's my right to take revenge." Angela snarled.
"He didn't kill him dear. Lucifer is responsible for your mate's death. Not Broadway." Syren pointed out. Angela dropped him to the ground and growled as she turned towards her father and grandmother.
"He made the damn deal. He betrayed us because of his jealousy and arrogance." Angela snarled viciously.
"I'm afraid you bear some responsibility for this. He wouldn't have turned to Lucifer had you not given him a reason to." Goliath advised.
"My being with Matt was none of his damn business." Angela screamed and lashed out with her claws leaving marks on Broadway's face much like the original hunter had.
"Wha…" Angela suddenly felt herself being lifted while her grip on Broadway loosened. "What's going on?" She asked just before being slammed into the wall next to Matt's body.
Elisa walked into the room. "We don't have time for this now. We need to find out where he will go next. We need to hurry before more people die.
"Come we must go." Goliath stated. Broadway slowly walked over to join them as Angela cradled Matt in her arms and began to cry again. "There's nothing that we can do to bring him back. We need to destroy the one that did this and make sure they don't hurt anyone else."
"I'm staying here…" She said between sobs. Then her eyes hardened as she looked at Broadway. "I will never forgive you for blaming me for his choice." Angela stood slowly and with a shaking hand pointed at him. "He made his own choice and yet you treat him like a hatchling." She stopped a moment to catch her breath. "Well, know this I am leaving your clan as of today and sooner or later I will kill him." She slumped back to the ground and cradled Matt close to her and began to cry.
"This is torture." Demona complained to Michael. "When can I go to them and tell them we're going to fix this?" She asked irritably.
"When the time is right creature, not before." Michael stated firmly.
"No, leave her alone." Goliath said quietly as Broadway started to reach for Angela. They all left quietly as Angela sat in the floor rocking back and forth while holding Matt close to her.
"Rest now my love. We will be together soon." Angela said gently as she picked up the gun Matt had been reaching for. Angela sobbed bitterly as she put the gun to her head and pulled the hammer back.
"It is time but let me speak to the child first." Michael ordered. Demona reluctantly stayed still as Michael walked in to speak with her daughter. "Are you sure you want to do that?" Angela moved the gun away from her head and pointed it to where the voice came from. What she saw surprised her. The human was wearing a white t-shirt covered with a denim jacket that was unbuttoned. He was also wearing a pair of jeans and a pair of old worn out work boots. His hair was black as a raven's feather and his eyes were a crystal blue color. He kneeled next to her and she didn't know why but she slowly handed the gun to him.
"He…he's," Angela couldn't form a sentence. She cradled Matt closer to her.
"I want to make you a deal creature." Angela looked up and he felt guilty for what he was about to ask when he saw her tear stained cheeks. "I will bring him back to you if you help me."
"How?" Angela looked up at him in shock.
"I'm an angel. Like my brother, and I need your help to stop him. My name is Michael and if you say yes I can guarantee you two things. You will come out of this battle completely unharmed and two, as a thank you for your help I will bring him back to you." Angela studied him for a moment.
"You swear to me that you will bring him back?" Angela asked hesitantly.
"I swear," Michael gripped her hand in his own and looked into her eyes as he spoke.
"Then yes, I will help you take that monster down." A bright white light filled the room and Angela stared in shock as Matt's neck righted itself and he opened his eyes.
"Matt, you're alive." She shouted excitedly as she hugged him close to her.
"uhh…Angela sweetheart, that's too tight." Angela loosened her grip but still held onto him.
"Matt, I have to tell you something…" She looked at him nervously for a moment. "I need to go handle something. Please wait for me here and I promise I will be back soon."
"Of course, I'll wait. What do you need to do?" Matt asked curiously as she began to get dressed.
"Just something for my family. After I'm done with this please promise me that we can get…I think you called it married." He pulled her to him and kissed her passionately and she returned it. "I love you, Matt." Angela said and then left the room. "I'll be back soon."
"Are you ready for this?" Michael asked as he took over.
Yes, I am now. Thank you for letting me talk with him. Now, let's go take care of this. Angela thought and Michael smirked as he glided toward the castle. As soon as Angela left, Demona, Cold Fire, Xena, and Brooklyn walked into the room.
H…how are you…" Matt stammered as he reached for his gun and aimed it at Demona. "Come near me devil and I will kill you." He threatened.
"Matt, calm down." Brooklyn said slowly as he stepped closer to him. "I know what's happened but trust me. This Demona is not the same one that was just taken over by Lucifer."
"You're lying! You didn't see what happened in here." Matt shouted as his gun hand began to shake. Xena put her hand on Demona's shoulder and urged her to back away from Matt.
"Let us try to explain the situation to him and wait for us outside." Cold Fire advised. Demona was about to argue but then she sighed.
"Very well but try to hurry. We have to get to the castle to meet Michael after the other Brooklyn and Lucifer go back to the past."
"I know, don't worry. We'll be there." Cold Fire assured her. Demona nodded as she followed Xena out of the room. "Matt, we need to talk about what's happened and where we're going from here."
"Demona was possessed by Lucifer because that monster threatened Angela. I will destroy that monster, even if it kills me!" Matt swore.
"We will help you, my friend." Brooklyn replied as he stepped closer to him. Matt shook his head and rose to his feet slowly as he held Brooklyn at bay by keeping the gun trained on him.
"How can you help me to kill the devil?" Matt asked, sarcastically. "From what you told me; the creature has already abandoned Demona's body." Brooklyn reached forward and slowly lowered Matt's arm so that the gun was aimed at the floor.
"Let us explain what has happened and what we need to do moving forward." Cold Fire said as she stepped closer to them.
"Fine, I'll listen." Matt said after a moment as he beckoned for them to sit down. "If I don't like what I hear then I will shoot you and go save Angela myself."
"I don't think it will come to that." Brooklyn grinned at him and motioned for Cold Fire to join them.
"It all started nearly one thousand years ago, or a few minutes from now, depending upon how you look at it." Cold Fire said as she sat down and began to summarize all that happened that led Brooklyn to go back in time, and what had brought them back to the present.
