It was another warm Saturday afternoon, the hints of winter were fading during the longer daylight hours. Edd insisted everyone get out of the house for fresh air, but Kevin's thoughts were on Spring Training and the NBA All Star game and the kids were waiting to get into another Fornite server or something.

Before losing his husband to another sports event and the kids to their electronics, he set about setting the stage for outdoor fun.

As Kevin watched the dunk contest, and the kids argued over who was playing which character on Fortnight, he pulled bikes out from under their tarps in the garage and laid them on the driveway, placed the bucket of sidewalk chalk on the porch, and drug the bag of sporting equipment into the middle of the front yard before going inside and yelling at everyone to get outside, NOW.

Seeing the activity across the street and next door, May told Ed to grab the boys because if Double Dee was having his family out, so would they, as Rolf Jr ran over with a basketball.

Nearly 45 minutes later, Lacey was standing in the middle of their wide driveway, determined eyes on the ball in her Da's hands and Edd's iPhone was recording in HD.

Kevin wanted "training video" so Edd obliged, if only to have proof that their kids occasionally had fun growing up.

And Lacey delivered.

A small underhand toss was lobbed over the roof and into the backyard and she expertly tossed her bat into the front yard and skipped over to the soccer ball doubling as first base before kicking it over to her TeTe Angie who played a quick back and forth game of dribble with the smol girl before she was distracted by the boys having a foot race against Kevin and Eddy.

Lacey was placed at the end of the race halfway up the street, her unbiased and quick with detail eyes being the only thing keeping the race honest.

"Winner gets fruit snacks!" Angela called as she walked over to Edd, who was drawing on the porch with RJ.

Edd cocked a brow as Kevin cheered but RJ explained that Rolf bought "the wrong kind" that Angela usually took in her lunch and Edd laughed.

The races went on into the early evening as they evolved from races on foot, to bicycles, to scooters, to skates and skateboards.

No one knew were Eddy learned to rollerblade, but Ang was glad to be rid of the offending box of snacks.

As Edd uploaded pictures and videos from their afternoon that reminded him of so many he had as a child, one thing stood out.

Kevin swears the video of her knocking the ball into the backyard will get her on USC's softball team.

But Edd knows that the look in her eyes when she sets them on a goal will take her everywhere.

She gets it from her daddy.

Honestly.
