DCOU: Indigo Lantern

A Green Lantern fanfiction

By H.R.C. Stanley

Prologue

Many centuries ago, a group of violent explorers came to a world eventually known as the planet Nok, and soon turned it into a slave centre. They built various dungeons and held many of its native people before transporting most of them across the universe to parts unknown. Until a lone member of the Green Lantern Corps named Abin Sur arrived and, having joined forces with the surviving prisoners, fought back against the invaders.

In order to gain advantage against their foes, Abin Sue and the people discovered and harnessed a mysterious source of power deep within the world of Nok: the indigo energy of compassion. They used its heat and light to forge and construct their weapons, and soon learnt that once their enemies were cut with these weapons, they momentarily changed. For a brief time even, they were overcome with remorse.

Though most of the surviving natives of Nok returned to their jungle homes after they were freed, one individual by the name of Natromo stayed behind to teach Abin Sur the ways of the Indigo Light, like master and student, and became close allies. Together, they forged an Indigo ring, then Abin Sur left for the stars and returned with the one he called his longtime enemy, a woman known as Iroque, the murderer of his daughter. She was the first to wear the Indigo ring, and it changed her, filled her heart with compassion. She cried for hours, mourning over what she had done. Abin Sur shared this sentiment and forgave her and set off once more to bring back others while Natromo forged more rings in time. Abin Sur found and brought in some of worst killers and sadists the Universe had ever known, believing this could be a way to redeem them.

Together, these people eventually became known as the Indigo Tribe...
