The blue-haired, blue-eyed hunter of monsters directed his gaze to the ledge where his mentor, the one who guided him through the countless deaths and offered his wisdom was. His mentor, Zelgius, the first of the hunters and one of the two permanent residents of the Tower of Dreams, was watching him in silence.
"Good Hunter, you've done well, the night nears its end. You will die and be free from this terrible Tower of Dreams." His voice was low before it warbled as it became heavy with emotion.
The Hunter shook his head showing he would not go… he wouldn't go back to the waking world. He had found the Umbilical Cords of the Great Goddesses and he wasn't going to stop his task.
Zelgius sighed and put his hand on his weapon as his black cloak billowed. "Very well, tonight Zelgius joins the hunt." He unsheathed the Alondite which the first of the Hunter's trick weapons and just as deadly as the others.
The Hunter unsheathed his own trick weapon, the Ragnell which he got from Lady Yune in the Hunter's Nightmare.
Zelgius jumped from the ledge and their blades met. One was determined to end the cycle while the other fought because he had too. His master made it so.
They clashed with both sword and magic as their clash echoed across the tower. Wind and Thunder magic shot past each other as the two oldest trick weapons clashed. In a way, it was fitting almost considering the Ragnell was the weapon of the First Hunter's most prized student and now they were clashing yet again.
The Hunter had fought and slain much on his journey through Sienne including beasts, crazed townsfolk who became mad with blood and even former allies when they succumbed to the madness. He had traveled to the imposing Castle Cainhurst and met the Vileblood Queen, Annalise. He had only two challenges left.
He was defeated numerous times but kept coming to challenge his mentor because he was as determined to best him as his mentor was to beat him. They both were not… could not give in. They wouldn't let themselves go quietly into that good night.
Finally, Zelgius, First of the Hunters fell and as he fell, he muttered. "The night and the dream were long." Before a wave of arcane energy radiated from his body and then he was gone without a trace.
The Hunter took a breath as red light came from behind him and there floating above him was one of the Great Goddesses, He knew from what he read that its name was Ashera. It picked him up before it drew back repulsed by the arcane energy flowing from him.
He picked up the Alondite from where it had fallen and twirled the dual blades in his hands before he charged into battle.
