Life After Death

Even after death, there is another story to be told.

Remus felt like he was floating in nothingness. "Is this really what life after death is like?" He always wondered. There were so many magical things in the world. He hoped there would be more to the afterlife than floating for eternity. If he was being honest with himself, it was a disappointment.

He sighed. Well, at least there would be no more transformations because of the full moon. That was something to appreciate.

Remus closed his eyes, letting his body relax. He thought about the ones he left in the world. Teddy. Poor Teddy. But Harry and Andromeda would take care of his son. He was positive about it.

There were the Weasleys and the other Order members. He knew some of them might have fallen, but he hoped it wasn't true.

"Pondering about what you're leaving behind?" The voice was sarcastic and all-too-familiar.

Remus opened his eyes. "Snape. So, you didn't survive either."

"No. Nagini's venom got me. At least I lived long enough to know Potter won."

Remus breathed a sigh of relief. "Good." He had failed Harry is so many ways. He should have been there when Harry was growing up. He should have forced Dumbledore to see that Harry needed someone magical in his life. He should have stayed more in Harry's life after his year as a teacher, but he didn't, too focused on Sirius. He knew he did wrong by Harry, but at least now, the boy… no…. man, would have a real chance at a life. And Harry would do better by Teddy than Teddy's father did by Harry.

"Are you as bored as me?" Remus asked.

"Yes. Waiting for something to happen."

"Maybe nothing is going to happen. Maybe this is going to be us forever."

"Please no," Snape muttered. "That would just be cruel."

"Glad I'm going to be able to relieve you of your burden than," another familiar voice stated with a laugh.

Remus' breath, even though he didn't need to breathe any longer, caught in his chest. "Sirius?"

"Hey, Lover. Missed me?"

Remus wasn't sure how, but he managed to fly into Sirius' arms. "You have no idea. I'm so sorry about Dora."

"Don't," Sirius warned. "You needed someone after I fell through the veil, and I'm glad she was there for you. And you two brought Teddy into this world, and I'm so glad Harry is going to have that baby to focus on because he's not going to know what to do with himself now that the war is over."

"I never stopped loving you," Remus whispered.

Sirius pulled back. "I know."

And Remus believed him.

Their lips met in a ferocious kiss.

"Kill me now!" Snape dramatically moaned.

The reunited lovers ignored him, lost in each other. Maybe the afterlife wouldn't be so boring after all.
