"Run."

He took her left hand in his right one and they run off into the night. With her wearing heels, she had quite some difficulties to follow his large steps, so he slowed his pace for her and they run until they were out of breath. Neither of them being aware how far they went, when they suddenly stopped on the sidewalk of a small side road. Still laughing about the silliness of this whole situation they realized, they stood in front of a small bar. Without saying a word, just sharing one long look, he opened the door, held it open for her and guided her in. After the entrance was a stairway to another entrance. Going downstairs felt like stepping into another world, another time where this bar was more of a speak easy kind of bar, the one that looked like it was straight out of the prohibition era filled with mysterys and secrets. The large bar counter was front paneled with wood, that had to have seen better days a long time ago, the leather in the sitting booths looked old and overused, but at the same time perfect for them in that moment. For this early hour it was surprisingly empty and they found a more private table in the back of the bar. Still in their black tie attire he went to the bar and got them very stiff, very full drinks.

She loved that about him, that he simply got her, got what she needed. That she needed the way he spontaneously took her suggestion of doing nothing they don't want to do in the future. Both of them. This beautiful running away idea. And now stranded in this old bar with a surprisingly tasty drink.

"Tell me more about your idea of writing it all down."

"At first it was to process everything and then it was as if it got a life of it's own. It had to be getting out."

And then he told her the whole story, how he met this woman for the first time, what he felt for her and what was so special about that time. That time that now felt for him like a different life. But this was also the time which made him a man and that this experience gave him an unique understanding of the beautiful woman sitting in front of him.

While sipping on her drink, she remembered the last time they sat across from each other at a bar. How open she could speak with him, how she somehow still could feel the warmth of his large coat around her shoulders covering that embarrassing fur bikini. She thought even then how she could drown in those clear bright eyes and the way he looked at her, with this full attention, as if she were the only person in the room. It was like right now, but now with the difference that there were so much more in his eyes, the love for her always shone through and the way his whole face lit up when he saw her. Those things and even more will always amaze her around him.

And then they talked into the early hours of the morning. Neither of them wanted this night to end. But unfortunately everything has to end and they paid their bill and took off back home with the sun coming up over of new york.
