Nighttime Talk

Katsuki Bakugo's sleep was interrupted by a high pitched, shrill cry coming from another room. The cries were coming from his new baby daughter, Ami, who was only a month old. As he sat up on the bed, his wife, Mei Hatsume was stirring in the bed, hearing the crying as well. He sighed, and ran his hand through Hatsume's messy pink hair, to lull her back to sleep. Once he was sure Hatsume was asleep, Bakugo let out an involuntary yawn before leaving his room to head to his daughter's room.

When he arrived in his daughter's room, he saw Ami, in a pair of pink footie pajamas, flailing her arms and legs around while letting out her high pitched crying. Bakugo walked up to her crib, and picked her up, which caused her crying to decrease in volume. Bakugo rubbed her back and kissed the crown of her head.

"There, there, Daddy's here," Bakugo whispered to the baby, which caused her to stop crying and look up at her Dad with her eyes still wet with tears. "Are you hungry, Ami?" Bakugo asked, and he was answered by a little growl coming from the Ami's stomach. "Alright sweetie, let's get to the kitchen," Bakugo cooed, before walking out of his daughter's room. While he was walking down the stairs, he felt the baby wiping her face on his black sleeveless shirt.

Bakugo went into the kitchen and opened up the refrigerator door, looking up on the top shelf, seeing a yellow bottle. Bakugo grabbed the bottle, and gave it to Ami, who immediately started sucking on it once it came into contact with her mouth.

"Man, how long has it been since I fed you Ami? You've only been born a month, and I've barely been there," Bakugo mumbled to himself, while looking at his child drink from her bottle.

"You may not be able to understand a word I'm telling you Ami, but I'm a hero. I keep people safe and beat bad guys. I'm busy a lot, and that didn't stop when you were born. I feel bad for making Hatsume constantly take care of you while I've been away saving people," Bakugo kept saying, not taking his eyes off of his Ami, who at this point had stopped drinking and started staring at her father.

"Oh, you're done," Bakugo mumbled, before he walked to the refrigerator to put the bottle back. "I'm sorry about not being there as much as I should sweetie. I just want to make sure you don't have to worry about anything and live your childhood safely," Bakugo said to Ami, who had grabbed onto his shirt, and started nuzzling her head and cheek on Bakugo's shirt. Bakugo couldn't help but chuckle at his daughter's actions.

"I love you too, honey, but I really should make some more time to spend with you. Maybe I can get a day off tomorrow so Daddy can spend some time with you," Bakugo whispered to Ami, who cooed in delight as a response. Bakugo started walking back up the stairs, placing his daughter back into her crib.

"Goodnight sweetie, Daddy loves you," Bakugo cooed, giving his daughter another kiss on the forehead. Ami responded with waving her arms and legs in happiness before her father went back to his room. Once he closed the door behind him, he heard his daughter calm down and stopped waving her arms before she quickly went to sleep. Bakugo smiled to himself, thinking about things to do with Ami on his way back to bed.
