AN

So here it is, my first ever fanfiction. I am super excited to be writing a Akame Ga Kill fanfic. Now as I have said this is my first fanfiction there will be errors and I mean lots of errors with grammar and punctuation, so just bear with me. I will answer a couple of questions that people may have about the story at the end. Also on a side note I love throwing references into my writing you know the small stuff like names and places as well as foreshadowing.

Summary

Tatsumi was born in the city of the Empire but was orphaned off. So he grew up in the city of corruption alone, Tatsumi always wanted to fix the city and it's darkness. He wanted to see if he could help the citizens of the Empire, so he had no choice but to join the military and climb the ranks to see if he could fix the problems from within. But nothing is ever really that simple, is it? Throw in a sadistic, possessive, blue haired, general madly in love, well you get the already mountain of a road to try and pass through, now it became heaven and earth.

Blood And Ice - Prologue

What's the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the word 'parents', is it the faces of your parents, or is it the love and connection you feel from them. To a green eyed and brown haired boy it was nothing, just a blank slate being temporarily filled by the nun's running the orphanage named Peregrines Home For Children. Tatsumi was given to the orphanage because his parents couldn't afford to care for him. Tatsumi always thought he had it rough, mostly because he was given a measly piece of bread for all of his meals, but he couldn't complain he had made a few friends with the boys and girls of the orphanage. One of them was a messy brown haired energetic child named Hide, Hide was the type of child that it was always a blast to be around due to his positive and naive attitude. Another male friend he had made was named Ieyasu, he also was a very cheerful and naive kid who wanted to be famous when he got out of the orphanage. And the last child was a female named Sayo who had the temperament of a bull if embarrassed or angered, but was also kind and cheerful, those types of personalities wouldn't make it in the empire. Tatsumi felt like this place was a real home to him or what he thought would feel like a home anyway just without the parents. He would never would've thought that it could disappear all on the count of one man.

It was a sunny day in the Empire, the birds were chirping, adults were at the market haggling the stall owners, and the kids that belonged at the orphanage were playing the yard that had a dried up and dead tree. Around 20 kids were in the yard playing tag all of them were around 10-14 years old with the youngest being 9. A nun that was old enough to be compared to dirt was watching over the kids and making sure they didn't hurt themselves while playing rough. Tatsumi (14) was talking with his 3 friends; Hide (13) Ieyasu (12) Sayo (13), they were talking about what they would do once they were grown ups.

"But Tatsumi why would you want to join the Imperial army?" asked Hide, "well it's because I want to be able to help and protect people, as well as bring money back to this orphanage to help those just like us," replied Tatsumi doing a heroic pose. Both Hide and Ieyasu snickered at Tatsumi understanding his real intention, while Sayo stood with a blank face not understanding the joke.

"What's so funny?" inquired Sayo asking both of the boys, Hide responded "it's because he wants to get battle experience and become a hero to impress all the ladies" Tatsumi was quick with a reply "NO WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT!" the boys continued laughing while Sayo got red in the face and charged towards Tatsumi with her fist raised ready to pummel him to the ground for having such an idea.

After that Sayo asked Hide what he wanted to do after he left "well I would like to open up an orphanage such as this one, or open a library for the common folk to enjoy because that's something we need," everyone nodded at this expecting this answer from the gentle boy. Tatsumi was smiling at his friends, they had been with him as long as he had been here and shared many memories with them.

As they were talking they noticed the kids were playing kickball in the background, the ball was kicked towards where the nun was suppose to be, which Tatsumi took notice of. So he got up and walked towards the door and his friends followed, as they reached the interior which could only be described as a prison cafeteria with its beaten chairs and tables to be honest, it could be better used as firewood.

Tatsumi saw the nun talking with a muscular man with spiky blonde hair and eyebrows that looked like they were always angry. As the group got closer they hear the nun saying "they are just kids, they aren't even adults yet, how could you use them for your army?" the man smiled and responded "well you see we are short on manpower, and I need them to make sure my men are safe, miss you do not need to worry they would be put in the reserves" this didn't seem to please the nun in the slightest "and how many would you even take, our oldest is 14, 2 years away from being an adult, I am sorry Great General Budo but I can't hand over these kids yet, you would have to wait and then they would have to join if you told them" this only seemed to piss off the Great General he replied with "I am giving you one last chance to give me these kids willingly before I start causing trouble, you don't want to hand them over? Fine I was in the need to make an example anyway" as he said this lightning crashed through the ceiling starting a fire on the wood roof.

As the lightning hit the nun she immediately caught fire releasing a blood curling scream, Tatsumi yelled out " !" He was pulled back. As this was happening the room started to catch fire as Tatsumi's group started to reach outside, the smoke was affecting vision for everyone, as the reached the large double door that led outside a pillar crashed down and pinned Sayo in the process. The pillar that was burning Sayo as she was pinned down, her legs were being burned to a char, Ieyasu was pulling and pulling to get her out but it wasn't working, Sayo was screaming which made it worse.

As Leyasu was trying to pull out Sayo, but was grabbed by the throat by the blonde man named Budo "give up she is already gone, look at her burning corpse" As he carried Ieyasu outside, Tatsumi and Hide ran to the fence and climbed over and hid in the alleyway nearby and watched Ieyasu struggle and kick against Budo "just give it up kid I need some meat shields for my men" 'we need to figure out how to save him' Tatsumi thought to himself, Tatsumi couldn't believe what was happening to him and his friends, why did it all go to shit, everything was okay before this ass showed up and ruined it because he didn't want to waste his men. Ieyasu continued to kick and grab at him but eventually struggled to find air but he managed to get out a word "why?" Budo just looked at him and laughed "why? Well because why would I waste good men when I can just use little runts no one would give a shit about when they died so that's why" Tatsumi turned to Hide and told him that he would distract Budo to make him let go of Ieyasu and after he did that Hide should run as far and fast from here as possible.

Hide looked at him with a blank stare and whispered "why do you want me to leave you, you could get caught!" Tatsumi just replied "you need to find help, so once he is distracted by me run as fast and as far as you can for help" 'he doesn't need to know that i plan to get captured so Ieyasu can run, after all that's my job as the oldest' But before tatsumi could put his plan into action Ieyasu spit in his face and told him to "piss off" in between breaths which seemed to amuse Budo as he wiped his face and took out his sword and plunged it into his stomach.

To Tatsumi the world seemed to move in slow motion as the sword pierced his friends chest as yelled and began sprinting towards the bastard who was killing one of his friends as if he was trash to be tossed aside. Hide ran the opposite direction trying to get help.

As Tatsumi ran up to Ieyasu who still had the sword it in his stomach, Budo grab the sword and ripped it upwards through Ieyasu splitting him in half and proceeded to hand the sword to Tatsumi and said "come on strike me down, use that rage to hit me, split me in half as I did to your pathetic friend or brother, whatever you trash called each other" Tatsumi couldn't help but look at Ieyasu's body in tears and begin to wonder what he did to deserve this besides want a little more in life, to make his friends happy and proud of him.

He slowly reached for the hilt of the sword and started charging at Budo screaming with the rage of a thousand men that had just lost everything, Tatsumi basically did lose his entire world in 30 minutes. Budo easily side stepped to the left as Tatsumi slashed downwards "oh that one had some power to it, I think you would serve me better as a soldier, with some training of course" Budo taunted "don't fuck with me, you just took everything from me, why would I ever serve you" Budo seemed to smurk as he dodged a slash from the left "what about your friend who just ran away, I could just put a description on a wanted poster for a little cash and he's done for, no one give a shit about a street urchin"

Tatsumi was seething with rage at this point but he had to think about Hide, as his attack became slower Budo thought 'this kids potential is through the roof, he could be very useful to me' while Tatsumi was thinking that he should try and at least save the little left of his what he considers "family" left. He dropped the sword and got on his knees and spoke "I'll serve the Empire, just let him go please" Budo smiled and walked towards Tatsumi "good choice, ROUND UP!, lets head back to your new home"

Well I hope this story is not to shit so far, TBH I wanted to give Tatsumi drive to try and fix the Empire as well as kill Budo to try and avenge his fallen friends. Well that's the route I want to take this story down and I plan to expand the plot obviously, now for some questions.

Does Tatsumi get his own Teigu?

Of course he will and I plan to make a completely original one, I won't spoil what it is yet but I think it will be pretty exciting.

How long do you plan for this story to be?

Seeing as this is my first fanfiction, I honestly have no idea, maybe I'll decide to restart because I think the story is shit or I might think the story could do well and I will continue. But I want it to be somewhere within 20-50 chapters and that's just a guess, I have no idea of how many I will do.

How will the romance between Tatsumi and Esdeath pan out?

I am going to make Esdeath as close as I can to her original character but with my modifications, but I am a sucker for happy endings, especially with my favorite ships so just keep that in mind as the story goes. But this is the Akame Ga Kill universe so shit happens.

Why does Tatsumi seem like less of a screaming bitch?

Honestly I couldn't stand the original Tatsumi, I mean I liked his naivety and everything but he was just such a bitch till the end, so I decided to make him seem colder and a little bit less emotional in general, I don't plan to make Tatsumi OP in any way, well besides his potential and training with Esdeath to be her rival or equal mate. I will explain further on what I mean with other chapters.

Dude why does your story suck ass?

Well seeing as this is my first ever fanfic that could explain why, but I am hoping to improve on my dialogue and writing skills as the story goes on, so as I improve I will come back and edit the chapters to fit better instead of looking like they were rushed.

How often do you plan to update?

I plan to release at least 1 or 2 chapters every week till I need a break or something, that could seem ambitious to a few but I just have a lot of free time on my hands, I am only in highschool with a part time job so.
