Dash and Elastigirl were on the run from a menacing robot that had already injured them some and had even torn their suits a bit. They came to the edge of a cliff and looked. It was a long drop into a rough ravine. Elastigirl looked around and she spotted a stable branch.
"Hang on tight, Dash!" Elastigirl said as she stretched and grabbed a tree branch before Dash hugged her around the waist and she swung across the gap while holding him close. The robot came out of hiding and when it saw them swinging over another gap with a vine, it fired saw blades and cut the vine, causing the mother and son duo to fall into a second gap and land on a steep hill, where they tumbled down, getting worse injuries. Elastigirl was able to get back up, but when she looked and saw Dash unconscious, she gasped and started crying as she rushed over to him.
"Dash, wake up, please!" she said hysterically. Dash struggled before he opened his eyes, which let loose tears.
"Mom...it hurts…" he strained out before he fell out. Elastigirl hung her head and cried at seeing her son this badly hurt before she got up and carried her son to a nearby cave. She laid him on a stone that was like a bed before she took some wet paper towels out of her bag and wiped the blood off of Dash, but cringed when she saw the burn marks and bad injuries on him. She quickly went outside and, using what she had learned from watching Dragon Ball Z with Dash, found some leaves and used them to make a medicine ointment for healing cuts. She put it on his cuts, glad he couldn't feel the sting. She then wrapped leaves around his arms and legs where she could tell he had been badly injured and where his limbs felt dislocated or out of place.
She smiled as she set him down in his sleeping bag before she said, "Mommy loves you, sweetie. Good night and get better soon." She then gave him a goodnight hug before she went and tended to her own injuries before getting into her sleeping bag.
The next morning, Elastigirl awoke, a couple of her muscles feeling sore, but better. She looked over at Dash's sleeping bag and saw him awakening.
"Good morning, Dash." Elastigirl said with a smile.
Dash looked at her and smiled, "Good morning, Mom." he said.
"Dash, honey, I'm not mad at you for this, but why did you put yourself in the way of that robot's attacks?" Elastigirl asked.
"Well, I couldn't just let some bucket of bolts hurt my mother, could I? I'd rather get hurt than you be hurt." Dash said.
Elastigirl had tears in her eyes and her hand over her heart as she smiled at her little boy, touched that he cared so much about her.
"Thanks for patching me up, too. I'd walk over and hug you, but I don't want you to hurt your arms or me to hurt mine." Dash said.
Elastigirl smiled, "I'll take my chances. Anything is worth it to hug my little trooper." she said as she opened her arms. Dash smiled and limped over easily.
Suddenly, Elastigirl lowered her arms and said, "No."
Dash stopped, looking confused before Elastigirl stretched and brought him over into a hug, "It's worth anything to hug my little soldier." she said with a wide smile.
Dash smiled with tears in his eyes as he hugged her back, "Mom, I love you." he said.
Elastigirl shed tears of her own before she said, "I love you, too, Dash." and gave him a kiss on the forehead.
