CONFRONTED

AUTHOR'S NOTE/DISCLAIMER

Takes place during the scene in "Descent" where Voight confronted Antonio but replaces him with Alex Cross from UC: Undercover and the rest of the episode went the same way you saw it. UC: Undercover belongs to Shane Salerno and Chicago PD belongs to Dick Wolf. I own nothing.

"Give it to me." Surprised, Antonio turned as Alex grabbed the key from him.

"Alex, what the-" his question was cut off as the woman slugged him. Ow! Can't believe she slugged me, he thought to himself. Why would she do that? "Ow! What the hell!?" he exclaimed, rubbing his jaw.

"Heroin, Jake!? You're going back to that crap?" she interrupted. "We had a deal! And then I find out that you've been doing oxy? What the hell are you thinking?" she demanded. "Oh, right. You're not." Not letting him go down this road again. He's worked way too hard to get to where he is now, she mused.

"Alex, I-" he began to say and then he began to cry. "Oh, damn. I screwed up. Alex, I-I just…" What am I going to do? What was I thinking? I don't wanna lose this job, but what choice will Voight have? he wondered. He wrecked everything by going back to drugs. There was no way Intelligence was going to keep him.

"Hey. Hey, Jake, look at me, look at me," Alex said, taking his face in her hands. "John and I got you clean once, and I can help you do it again. You are not alone, Jake. I've got you. Always." Damn, I hate that we're going through this again, she mused as she wiped away the tears.

"Why? Why you still…?"

"You know the answer to that. We're friends. You're stuck me with me now and forever."

"I screwed up."

"Yes, you did. But you're human. Screw ups are gonna happen."

"I've been clean for years. I can't believe I-"

"And we're going to get you clean again, okay? You're strong, Jake. And you're not alone. We've got this. You've got this." Antonio inhaled sharply and nodded. He was going to be okay. Alex would make sure of it. But honestly…was he worth it? He had really screwed up here. Seeing the expression on his face, Alex fixed him with a look.

"Jake…Antonio…you're worth it." She grabbed his chin. "You're worth it and I ain't goin' nowhere." He nodded. "Now come on. Let's get you out of here." He nodded again and followed her out.
