An Eternal King for the Throne of Heroes
By Try Another Time
With Kiritsugu and the gods.
Kiritsugu looks at the gods with determination. He had waited for several months for an opportunity like this. Any questions he could had would be answered and, in his case, there were several. "If you're gods why you didn't intervene during the war? You knew about the corruption of the grail."
A.S. took some tea before he put his cup aside and focus on Kiritsugu. "Why? That wasn't my duty. The war for the grail wasn't created by me, nor am I behind the creation of Angra Mainyu. You mortals were the ones who created such a ritual in search of obtaining power which entailed a high price. You were also the ones who created Angra Mainyu."
"Angra Mainyu was created by mortals who used him to try to escape their troubles, sins, pain, and continue living without a care in the world. All that corruption that the grail contains comes from you mortals and not the creation of a god." Aria said.
"Besides you should be proud of yourself, you stopped Angra at least for a few years. After you sacrificed so much you were able to keep putting the well-being of this world instead of your desires. But that could be expected from the mortal by the name of Kiritsugu Emiya." Asmodeux explained.
"Did you already know that all this would happen?" Kiritsugu asked.
"Kiritsugu you cannot begin to imagine how many times Angra Mainyu has played the same wars hoping to break free and bring devastation to a world, even though he wouldn't stop there. The boy must have explained it to you. This world belongs to a timeline among many others. Angra Mainyu has continued to be summoned to various timelines for a long time and in each of them the human named Kiritsugu Emiya destroys the grail after refusing to make a wish." A.S. described the continuous fate of Kiritsugu.
"You're saying that multiple versions of me have continued to make the same decisions and-" Kiritsugu was interrupted.
"Sacrificing Irisviel in one way or another besides losing Maiya Hisau during the war. You fight Kotomine Kirie, eliminate him, the grail grants him a new body, the Fuyuki fire happens and everything continues with your encounter with Shirou. What happens after that is almost always the same, you lose Illya, you adopt Shirou and you die before the next war. That is the story that each world has followed for a very long time, even if there have been a few with minor differences." Aria said.
Kiritsugu felt as if fate was spitting in his face. Based on what he had heard, it seemed that his life was planned from the very beginning.
"But there have been different worlds. Right now, far away from this world, there is another one in which you never allowed the war to begin and save Irisviel from a terrible future. In that world, Kiritsugu Emiya has a happy family but continues fighting to make sure the world is a better place for his daughter. Just as that world exists there are others in which Angra was never summoned. The future was never written on paper Kiritsugu. You have followed your path just like anyone else without nobody telling you what to do." A.S. looked at Kiritsugu before creating a crystal sphere in his hands and presenting it to Kiritsugu. "You can see it through this."
Kiritsugu doubted a second but decided to look inside the sphere. Several moments passed in which Kiritsugu said nothing, his eyes remained focused on the sphere. "Is this the future I could have chosen?"
"One of many. But right now, you own something similar, you have Illya and your version of Shirou, but you're still incomplete. There is a way to get back two of the people you've lost in your path to becoming a hero of justice. We waited a long time for a Shirou who had what it takes to create Eero and believe us we can wait for your answer." Asmodeux said.
"Do you want me to forget all that I have done, my sins, sacrifices, and keep fighting?" Kiritsugu asked.
"You don't have to forget them, but we need you to put aside that desire to throw in the towel. You don't understand the severity of the adversaries that Eero and your daughter will face from now on. There are things that no mortal can face. Creatures, beings that go beyond what you have seen or imagined. Angra Mainyu is much worse than you think, but it's just the tip of the iceberg. From now on they will find and face things that will push them to the limit, but they need to have all the help they can get. You will be necessary for everything that comes from now on." Aria said.
Kiritsugu felt the severity of his words. He trusted Eero and knew the child was strong, but these three gods didn't seem to be joking. "Where do you plan to send them?"
"That you must see with your own eyes, but for now lets us see the first of many enemies that Eero and your daughter will face," A.S. said before showing him what was going on with Eero and the others.
Back with Eero and the others.
It had only been a few seconds since Eero returned with Abigail but no one from his group expected him to return bringing in one of their adversaries chained up. The first to react was Miyu.
"Eero, why is she here?" Miyu asked.
"Let's take a seat. There are many things we need to discuss." Eero advanced while still carrying the chained-up Angelica before taking a seat.
Angelica turns her eyes towards Miyu and could only think how easy it would be to take her if she didn't want to get this chance to eliminate Darius and save Julian.
"Abigail, what happened while you two were outside?" Mashu asked as she approached the little witch.
"Eero will explain everything," Abigail said as she thought about what they had discussed before they arrived.
They were all seated while everyone's eyes were perched on Eero and Angelica. In Miyu's mind, thousands of different thoughts were formed and many of them focused on the hatred she felt for the Ainsworths. She couldn't forget the fact that they were the ones who took her brother's life and those who were using his body as one more tool to achieve their goals.
Eero sighs before he starts talking. "Everyone knows I went out with Abigail to look for information about Pandora's box. But as you can see, we had a showdown with Angelica. After defeating her she offered a treaty in exchange for helping her with a certain problem that could solve our situation. Do you want to explain your situation, or should I continue?" Eero looked at his prisoner who still kept her unexpressive face.
"Darius Ainsworth is the curse of our family. To achieve his goal of opening pandora's box he created magic capable of tying his soul to this world through his descendants. Each new head of the family is eventually replaced by Darius. When I was still human, I took care of my father while he was being replaced by Darius until the day the process was completed. This same process is happening with Julian and my main goal is to stop that curse. I have followed Darius's orders to try to free Julian from that curse. I'm just looking to save my brother from such a future." Angelica explained.
"Yet you kill my brother for that!" Miyu exclaimed.
"Your brother confronted me and both of us fought to achieve something. I want to save my brother, he wanted to rescue you. Our duel was only a confrontation between different ideals, and I am just a doll following the memories that I can't forget." Angelica said.
Angelica's response caused Miyu to burst. The girl stood up and pointed her fingers at Angelica's head. "Even though you're just a doll, you took away the most important person in my life." Wind accumulated at the tip of Miyu's fingers. "I have the right to take revenge starting with taking your life and then Julian's for everything they've done."
Angelica showed no reaction, yet she turned her head towards Eero. "Was this what you meant when you said you didn't have the last decision?" Angelica asked.
"That's right. Miyu is the one who has to decide. The Shirou Emiya of this world died by your hands and Darius continues to seek Miyu to look for her. She has to decide what she wants to do. You can offer me whatever you want, but I have no right to say I'll help you unless she wants to. I'm here for her, if eliminating each of you is her decision, I will do it. If she wants to save this world, I'll find a way to achieve it without costing her life." Eero said as he looked at what decision Miyu would make.
Angelica went silent. She felt no emotions, but she understood that her actions had consequences. Everything she had done up to this point had brought her up to this point. Disappearing without saving Julian was not what she expected for her future, but she didn't have a chance to defend herself.
Illya and Sakura looked at what was happening with surprise and sadness. They never expected to see Miyu in such a state, but they understood that this was a difficult situation for her. Both could be imagined themselves reacting in the same way if they were going through similar circumstances.
The other girls felt they shouldn't interfere. Miyu needed to face this on her own. Although two of them had something to say about this.
"Miyu think this well of the step you're about to take. Once you take a life, there's no turning back. If you want to take that step, don't do it out of revenge or anger." Mashu said.
Miyu doubted a little but she continues to charge the spell.
Abigail was the second to speak. "Even if you eliminate her your brother won't come back. Don't end her just for the sake of taking revenge. If you're going to take a life, do it to protect yourself or protect those you love. "
Miyu turned to look. She could see how Abigail, Mashu, and everyone else expected her to decide. If she finished Angelica, she'd couldn't go back and win no benefit other than the satisfaction of having taken revenge. If she lets her lived, she'd keep the little innocence she had left, but she wouldn't take revenge for her brother. Miyu turned to look at Eero. "Please tell me what to do?"
"I can't decide for you, but I'll tell you this, no matter what you choose we'll be here no matter what happens. Remember this phrase, a life only pays for another life." Eero remained neutral. No matter what Miyu did right now, Eero already had an idea of how advanced with all this.
Miyu kept aiming until she fires the spell. Everyone was silent. It was several seconds before there was a reaction.
"Is this your decision?" Angelica asked. The wind spell had only grazed her left cheek. If she had maintained her original trajectory, she would have pierced Angelica's head.
"I really want to take your life, but I don't feel able to do it right now. Is there a way to keep her with us?" Miyu asked.
"She offered her body in exchange for saving Julian using this dagger." Rulebreaker appeared in Eero's hand. "I'm not sure if is going to work but I can try." Eero looked at Angelica.
"If you save Julian, you can do whatever you want with me," Angelica said.
"We don't have to do that. I can keep Angelica locked in my ability until it's all over. There's no way she's going to free herself from these chains or her magic to help her escape. Choose Miyu, we save Julian or just kidnap her and eliminate everyone." Eero looked at Miyu. He was hoping she'd make this decision because he had something else to discuss.
"... save him if is possible but keep her away from him. A life for another life was what you said. If you can save him, I hope he feels the same way I do. I lost Shirou and he will lose Angelica." Miyu said. Her words were filled with sadness and pain.
"It's all right if that's what you want, we'll do it," Abigail said.
"We'll be here for you," Mashu said.
"That's right, but we have another's problem to discuss. Angelica, do you want to tell them what you know about Pandora?" Eero said as he turned his gaze to the living doll.
"If that helps you secure Julian's life, I will." Angelica began to tell them everything she knew about Pandora and her relationship with the Ainsworth family. The group's reactions were exactly what could be expected after they heard that this little girl, they saw was indeed the same one that had been created for the box.
"So, all this time Pandora has been that child," Tamamo said.
"The gods created her with such an inoffensive appearance. An immortal child, not something I expected, but the gods make decisions without thinking about the repercussions of their actions." Nero said while imagining how easily a disguise can help you to pass through enemy lines.
"Based on your information, she also possesses skills you don't know about. It will be a hassle to face her without knowing everything she is capable of. What should we do, Eero?" Altera asked.
The young man remained silent as he devised the next steps they would take. Three dolls with cards of servants, a young man possessed by the creator of those same cards which means he must possess other possible tools at his disposal and last but no less dangerous, Pandora. Based on Angelica's information, she was a threat with unknown powers. It wasn't an impossible situation, but he had to keep certain precautions in case things got out of hand. Also, He still didn't know anything about those inscriptions inside the box.
The young king looked at Miyu, Illya, and Sakura. All three needed to stay close to several of the adults to keep them safe or else they would be in danger. Then his sight turns to Abigail, she was a fundamental ally in his strategy, but he had to keep her close to Miyu to make sure she wasn't captured. She was also the one who would most easily get Sakura and Illya out of danger if necessary. Taking this and other elements into account Eero decided his next move.
"Listen well, I won't repeat the plan twice. We'll attack head-on, but we'll divide them based on who can take care of who. Nero, Tamamo, will work together and eliminate the Shirou and Sakura dolls. Shirou's doll possesses abilities based on nameless (EMIYA of the lunar cell) so you two know well how to take care of it. Sakura's doll seems to possess Lancelot berserker's card so Nero mustn't use her sword." After hearing this, they both nodded as they imagined how they should fight that battle.
Eero turned to Altera. "You know who you should take care of. That hammer is dangerous, but you know how to fight gods. Use all you have to eliminate her." Altera nodded after understanding that her task would be to eliminate Beatrice.
"Mashu, Leysritt and Sella, all three of you will stand with Abigail and the others. Your job will be to stop Pandora and any other enemies that may be summoned by Darius." Eero explained.
"Do you want them to face Pandora?" Angelica asked.
"I do not doubt that together they will be able to face anything," Eero replied.
"What about you? " Miyu asked. " If everyone else will be busy, what will you do?"
"I'll face Darius alone in addition to taking care of the box. It is a danger to leave it in this world so I will take it within my ability and try to destroy it over there." Eero said when he stood up.
They all looked at him in disbelief. This was a dangerous strategy even for him even with all his abilities.
Mashu was the first to speak out against such a decision. "I won't let you face whatever's inside that box alone."
"Even if it's about you, this is too risky," Sella said.
Eero sighs before he speaks. "This is what I need to do or else we'll leave this place without changing anything. Everything that goes into my ability can't come out until I allow it, and nothing can come in unless I want it to come in. If you are afraid that I will be in danger you should eliminate your targets as quickly as possible and meet with Abigail who will have access to my ability during all that time."
All the girls looked at Abigail who was still analyzing Eero's plan in her head. Several possibilities formed in her mind and the young servant thought about how she should keep her attention on the three youngest girls in the group.
"Mashu I need you to come with me," Eero said before he grabbed Angelica.
"Is there anything else you haven't told us?" Tamamo asked.
"I saw something inside the box and Mashu has been studying ancient civilizations, legends, and forgotten languages for the longest time. Maybe what I saw will help us face whatever's inside the box." Eero said before he started walking to the nearest door.
Mashu doubted for a moment to follow him, but her heart told her that she shouldn't doubt for a second. He was doing all of this for a reason and he was putting his hopes in them being fast enough to catch up with him.
Seeing that their leader had left them alone, the girls were left to worried about this plan. Even Sella and Leysritt thought about how dangerous the decision the young king had made was, but they didn't have the guts to stop him. He wouldn't do something like this without having confidence in being able to overcome it.
Miyu was the most frightened one. Eero was doing this for her. The young man who was practically a living memory of her brother was putting his life in danger to make sure she survived. Once more she asked herself how she could keep putting him into so much danger.
Sometime later, Mashu.
Mashu continued to analyze what Eero remembered seeing inside the box. She was grateful that Eero had such a good memory. Her knowledge of ancient languages had increased thanks to the wide variety of books they owned within their home and this was not the first time Eero asked her for help researching something ancient. The weapons that appeared within his ability were a mystery that she helped solve. Discovering where they came from, to whom they belonged, or what legend is related to them were tasks that put her knowledge into practice.
Now deciphering this phrase was crucial because they knew nothing about what could be hidden inside that container.
"Αυτόμέσασεαυτότοκουτί, θαφέρειτοτέλοςτουκόσμου. Γιαεμένα, οΉφαιστοςδημιούργησεαυτότοκλουβίπουκρύβειτονδιεφθαρμένοτιτάνιοτουφιδιού. Όταντοπαιδίαπελευθερωθείαπότοόνειρότης, τοτέλοςθαέρθει" Mashu again read the message. There were words that she easily recognized as the name of the Greek god, Hephaestus, but others were a little harder to understand.
Mashu turned her sights to Eero who was sitting and resting his head against a wall. His eyes were closed and his breathing was relaxed. Beside him was Angelica still chained-up but staring at her.
"Do you think you can figure that out before he confronts what's inside the box?" Angelica asked.
"I must do it. I've been training, studying, becoming someone capable of supporting and taking care of him for two years. He's stronger, stronger than what you might think but he's not invincible. We cover his weaknesses, blind spots and that's why I have to decipher this." Explain Mashu. "Although I don't think you'll understand."
Angelica didn't try to deny it because she was a doll that only existed for one cause. She had no other reason to exist and when Julian was saved, she would just become one more tool for this guy. She had given up on the rest of her existence.
Inside the box.
The body chained inside the box stood motionless in front of that gate, but behind it, a creature born of corruption, darkness, and all that the Greek gods could use was waiting for the time to escape. Nothing could control such a creature and only destruction awaited the world. An artificial titan was about to be released. Nothing would survive its wrath.
