Kai was sleeping on the futon that was provided to him. He placed Zangetsu and Zabimaru inside his futon. Someone knocked on his door. Kai heard the knock. He opened his eyes and looked at the door.

"Um… Shiba-sama?" Someone said.

"Yes?" Kai groggily replied.

"Kuchiki-sama sent me to wake you up for breakfast," The person said.

"I see… thank you." Kai said. Kai got out of his futon.

"How am I going to keep Zabimaru hidden?" Kai thought.

"Leaving us in here might be ok," Hebi said.

"We don't know if they can place those seals on you," Kai replied.

"They used Renji's reiatsu to create the seals. If they were to place the seals on us again, they would have to use your reiatsu." Saru reassured.

"Very well," Kai said as he changed his clothes. He placed Zabimaru on the desk. "Let me know if anyone touches you."

"Very well," Saru said. As Kai left his room. A servant was standing outside, waiting for him.

"Sorry for making you wait," Kai said.

"No problem Kai-sama." The servant replied. The servant escorted Kai to the breakfast table. Byakuya was already sitting at the table.

"Hello, Kuchiki-sensei." Kai greeted.

"Hello Kai. Sit down." Byakuya said as he pointed down to a chair. Kai sat down. The servant quickly left. "Rukia should be coming down soon." He said.

"Ok," Kai said. A few minutes later, Rukia walked down. She looked exactly like Kai saw her before. However, her purple eyes were filled with hope. Byakuya immediately noticed the change in Rukia. He looked at Kai.

"So, you told her despite me warning you not to," Byakuya said.

"In my defense, she was alone and crying," Kai said. Byakuya sighed. He casted a privacy kidō around them.

"Has he told you about the rebellion yet?" He asked.

"What rebellion?" Rukia replied. Byakuya turned to Kai.

"Hey, I only implied my name," Kai said. Byakuya took a breath, calming himself down.

"As you know, Renji died a few days ago," Byakuya started. "He wasn't killed by Onmitsukidō. He was killed by Central 46 when they performed an illegal ritual on him."

"What?" Rukia replied.

"Yesterday, I was attacked by Kōichi and his minion." Kai started. Rukia looked at him. "I wasn't injured. But then he pulled out a Zanpakutō. That Zanpakutō was Zabimaru."

"I see," Rukia said with a stern look.

"Luckily I managed to get Zabimaru back, who told me what actually happened to Renji," Kai said.

"Good," Rukia replied.

"After careful deliberation, we believe that Central 46 is purposely placed all these restrictions on the Gotei 13, trying to see who would else would rebel against them," Kai said.

"The rebels will have their Zanpakutō stolen, dying in the process, and those enslaved Zanpakutōs are given to their followers as a reward for their loyalty," Rukia added.

"Exactly," Kai said.

"I want in," Rukia said.

"I expected that," Byakuya said. She gave him a confused look. "We discussed who do we think would join us in our rebellion.

"You and my sister were one of the first names we thought about," Kai said with a small smile. "Anyways, let's get those kidō classes started," Kai said.

"Right," Rukia replied.

"I might come by and see how good you are in Zanjutsu," Byakuya added.

"Alright then," Kai said. Rukia and Kai stood up and left.

"How were you able to control your reiatsu?" Rukia asked.

"When I arrived in District 80, I had no reiatsu. Zangetsu helped me build up my reserves. We used that time to practice controlling my reiatsu."

"How much reiatsu do you have right now?" She asked.

"Hm…" Kai said.

"Zangetsu?"

"Right now, we're about the same level as you were after you defeated Grimmjow," Zangetsu replied.

"Wait…really? It has been only been two days. It took like a month to get that much last time." Kai replied.

"A few reasons for exponential growth," Ossan said. "First is that you're eating reishi based food, which gives us even more reishi to create reiatsu with. Second is that Zabimaru is also helping with reiatsu production."

"I'm still amazed at how much reiatsu you have," Saru said.

"Lastly, Ossan isn't trying to sabotage you like last time," Zangetsu added.

"I see…"

"According to everyone, I am currently at the same level I was after I defeated Grimmjow," Kai said. Rukia's eyes widen.

"That much?"

"Yep," Kai said. They soon arrived at an empty clearing and began their Kido training.

Time Skip: Two Hours later

Byakuya walked out to the clearing where Kai and Rukia were training. He looked to see the flat clearing was covered in holes. The ground was burnt from kidō. He could see Kai was standing there. He noticed that Kai was shirtless. His muscular body was littered with scars from the past. He was beginning to sweat. His right palm was pointed at the sekkiseki stone. Rukia stood close by, behind Dankū.

"Sprinkled on the bones of the beast. Sharp tower, red crystal, steel ring. Move and become the wind, stop, and become the calm. The sound of warring spears fills the empty castle." Kai chanted. Yellow reiatsu gathered on his pal. "Hadō 63 Raikōhō!" A large blast of yellow electricity shot at the sekkiseki stone. The kidō exploded, sending smaller lightning bolts around the field.

"Good job Kai." Rukia congratulated as she lowered her kidō.

"Didn't you just started learning Kido?" Byakuya asked.

"I did," Kai said. Byakuya shook his head. "Draw your Zanpakutō. I want to see your Zanjutsu skills."

"Very well," Kai said. They drew their respective blades. Rukia sat on the porch as Kai and Byakuya began to spar. Rukia and Byakuya were surprised at Kai's skills in Zanjutsu.

"You've never shown this level of skill," Byakuya said as he blocked one of Kai's strikes.

"I know," Kai replied by striking again. "During that time, I learned on the fly." Byakuya swung own with a downward strike. Kai blocked the attack. "This time, I slowly learned it before I died." Kai flicked the Byakuya's blade to the side, creating an opening. Kai used that opening to finish the spar; with Kai's blade resting on Byakuya's neck.

"I concede," Byakuya said. Kai moved his blade away from Byakuya's neck.

"It's time for lunch," Rukia said.

"I'm going to take a quick shower," Kai said as he picked up his folded robes.

"Ok," Rukia said. Kai walked to his bedroom. He arrived to see his room was cleaned. Zabimaru was left alone on the table. Kai took a quick shower and redressed himself. He picked up Zabimaru.

"What's going on?" Saru asked.

"Rukia now knows the truth," Kai replied.

"I see…" Saru replied. Kai added Zabimaru on his right hip while Zangetsu was on his left hip. Kai walked out of his bedroom. It felt weird for a few moments; getting used to having two Zanpakutō on both sides of his waist. Kai soon arrived at the table. Rukia and Byakuya noticed the difference between right now and this morning.

"Is that?" Rukia asked.

"It is," Kai replied as he joined them at the table for lunch. Suddenly Byakuya's and Rukia's Denreishinki began to ring. Rukia and Byakuya grabbed their respective Denreishinki and answered it.

"Despite being in the Seireitei, which is somewhat stuck in the Edo period, cell phones still interrupt meals." Kai thought as he continued to eat. Soon both finished their call.

"The Kuchiki elders have requested to see me." Byakuya sighed.

"Likely is because of you pulling Rukia off desk duty?" Kai asked.

"Probably," Byakuya said.

What about you?" Kai asked.

"That was Lord Shidō. He wants to meet with me." Rukia replied.

"Likely because his son complained to his father that I beat his ass," Kai said.

"Likely," Rukia replied.

"He may ask you if you saw me with Zabimaru," Kai warned.

"Got it," Rukia replied. Rukia and Byakuya left for their respective meeting. Kai went back to the clearing they used this morning. He arrived just to see the servants finishing repairs the damages from this morning.

"Thank you," Kai said.

"Thank you Kai-sama." The servants said as they left. Kai drew Zabimaru from his sheath.

"Ready Zabimaru?" Kai asked.

"We are." Saru and Hebi said together.

"Hoero," Kai said as he swiped his hand to the tip of the blade. "Zabimaru!" Kai said as the katana let out a crimson light and began to transform. The crimson light died down to reveal Zabimaru. Kai did a few practice swings with Zabimaru.

"This reminds me of Zangetsu's false Shikai." Kai thought.

"So far so good," Saru said.

"Let's try the whip form of Zabimaru," Hebi said. "Close your eyes and focus on the blade in your hand." Kai closed his eyes. "Do you sense a switch."

"I do."

"That is the switch to shift Zabimaru between the blade form and whip form," Hebi instructed. "When you swing the blade, hit the switch to change into the whip form,"

"Ok. Let me try." Kai said. He swung his blade down. As it came down, Kai hit the switch. Zabimaru extended out in front of him. Kai did a few practice swings with Zabimaru. He noticed that his attack range is much faster than before but Zabimaru feels weaker than before.

"You already notice the contrast between both forms of Zabimaru," Saru said.

"Indeed," Kai said. "Saru's form is a more durable weapon but lacks range. While Hebi's form has an increase in attack range but is more fragile."

"It took Renji a while to realize that," Hebi said.

"The key to effectively use our Shikai state is to innovate with these restrictions," Saru said.

"I see," Kai said. Kai practiced using both forms of Zabimaru. After an hour, Kai sealed Zabimaru. He sat down on the porch. He noticed a black cat with golden eyes looked at him.

"It can't be… can it?" Kai thought as he gently picked up the cat. The cat wasn't scared by Kai's action. He placed the cat on his lap. Kai clapped his hands. A servant walked out.

"Yes, Kai-sama?" The servant asked.

"I need a bottle of water and a small plate with milk on it."

"As you wish Kai-sama." The servant said as the servant disappeared. Kai began to calmly pet the cat. A few moments later, the maid returned and handed Kai the items.

"Thank you," Kai said as he placed the cat back down. It walked over to the milk and began licking it. Kai began to pet the cat. "Hm… I don't think Kuchiki-sensei mentioned owning a cat." Kai mumbled. He began to scratch the cat's back. The cat stopped drinking the milk as it let out a soft purr in pleasure. Kai smiled.

"It's been a long time since I've seen you Yoruichi," Kai said. Kai could sense the cat getting immediately getting tensed.

"Who are you?" Yoruichi asked, her manly voice concealing her true gender.

"It seems my teacher forgot her favorite student," Kai said.

"I think I would remember someone like you." Kai smiled.

"Oh, you remember me alright. You were the one who helped train Orihime and Chad before we went to rescue Rukia. Yoruichi's golden eyes widen in shock.

"Ich-" Yoruichi started.

"Shiba Kai." Kai interrupted.

"Sneaky," Yoruichi said. "Using the Law of Resurrection to your advantage."

"Indeed," Kai said.

"So where is Zangetsu?" She asked.

"Here," Kai said as he pointed to the blade on his left side.

"How do you have Zabimaru?" She asked.

"It's a long story."

"Start telling me," Yoruichi said as she laid on his lap. Kai chuckled.

"I assume you already casted a privacy kidō around us?"

"I did," Yoruichi replied. Kai told her the plans for a rebellion, the fight with Kōichi, and the truth of Renji's death."

"I want in," Yoruichi said.

"Very well," Kai said.

"Let me talk with Suì-Fēng, I might be able to get her to join your side."

"Be careful, we believe the Punishment Squad is compromised by Central 46."

"I will," Yoruichi said. "It's good to see you, Kai."

"Same." Yoruichi, still in her cat form, jumped away. Kai chuckled as he resumed practicing with Zabimaru for a few more hours.

Time Skip: Evening

Kai walked into Byakuya's office. Byakuya and Rukia were already sitting down with him. Kai noticed Byakuya's and Rukia's tensed mood.

"What happened?" Kai asked.

"The Kuchiki Elders expressed their disapproval for allowing Rukia to be someone's tutor." Kai nodded his head.

"Lord Shidō also expressed his disapproval of me tutoring you," Rukia said. "His son met with me in private. He blames me for his defeat against you." Kai chuckled.

"Though I do wonder if your Zanjutsu skills improved at all." Kai joked. Rukia glared at Kai.

"I have you know, I improved since the last time," Rukia replied.

"Good for you midget," Kai teased. Rukia turned to her brother.

"Lord Shidō may come to meet with you, asking you to stop Kai's tutoring or have me tutor his son instead," Rukia said. Byakuya nodded his head.

"I'll expect the impending meeting then."

"Also, Yoruichi is aware of the situation." Byakuya sighed. "She is also going to talk with Suì-Fēng."

"At least that werecat is being useful this time."

"Were you able to talk with the other Taichō and Fukutaichō?" Kai asked.

"No, we haven't," Rukia said. Kai smiled.

"I have an idea." Byakuya and Rukia looked at Kai. "What if Rukia gives me a tour of each division."

"Then we could meet with our potential allies," Rukia said.

"Exactly," Kai said.

"If anyone asked, you could mention that Kai wasn't here when the students were given tours of each division," Byakuya added.

"That's a good reason," Kai said.

"I'll send a notice to the other Taichōs and Fukutaichōs," Byakuya said.

"Great," Kai said.

"With this meeting done, I got some paperwork to read over," Byakuya said. Kai and Rukia took this as their cue to leave. The stood up and bowed before walking out of his office.

"What are you planning to do now?" Rukia asked.

"I'm honestly not sure," Kai said.

"Do-do you want to tour around the first district?" Rukia nervously asked.

"Sure," Kai said. They both stood up. They went back to Kai's room to leave Zabimaru there. After that, they left for the first district.

Scene Change: North Rukongai: District 1

Kai and Rukia walked out of the gate. They could see the sun beginning to set. Many Shinigami went to the local bars and began to drink.

"So where do you want to go Rukia?" Kai asked.

"Hm…" Rukia said.

"RUKIA!" Someone shouted behind them. Kai and Rukia turned to see a few familiar faces.

The first one was a woman with long wavy blond hair, blue eyes. She was dressed in the typical Shinigami robes, but loosen to emphasize her large breasts. She has a large pink scarf over her shoulders. On her sash, she has a wooden badge with the kanji 十 [ten] on it.

Behind her was a tall, muscular, bald man. His eyes each have a small red marking at the outer corner. He is dressed in the typical Shinigami robes but doesn't have tabi with his sandals and he has a gold-plated shoulder plate on his right arm with the kanji 龍 [dragon] carved in.

Besides the bald man was another man. He has shiny light skin, purple eyes, and jaw-length black hair with a braid to the side. He has feathers on both sides of his head and eyebrow extensions. He was dress in the standard Shinigami robes but with a few additions. He was an orange piece of clothing wrapped around his neck. He was a sash over his right shoulder and turtleneck sweater.

"Rangiku, Ikkaku, and Yumichika," Rukia said. Kai smirked at seeing familiar allies.

"And who is this?" Ikkaku asked as he looked at Kai.

"The names Shiba Kai." Kai introduced.

"I'm Mat

"The name's Madarame Ikkaku.

"He is a new student that I am tutoring," Rukia said.

"Why?" Rangiku asked.

"He is good in Zanjutsu, Hohō, and Hakuda but needs help with kidō and the other stuff," Rukia said.

"Meh," Ikkaku said. "One look and I know you'll fit in the Eleventh Division," Ikkaku said. "The Eleventh Division doesn't care about kidō or the other stuff."

"Hey," Rangiku interrupted. "Let's talk about this over dinner."

"Sure. I'm hungry." Ikkaku said.

"Agreed," Yumichika said.

"Um…" Kai said. Rangiku grabbed Kai's arm.

"Don't worry handsome, we can pay for you. Kai could sense jealousy radiating from Rukia. Kai gently pulled his hand away from Rangiku.

"Thank you Rangiku-Fukutaichō." Kai politely replied.

"No Fukutaichō," Rangiku replied. "We're off duty just call us by our names."

"Ok then," Kai replied. "So where are we going?"

"Can you use shunpō?" Ikkaku asked.

"I can," Kai said.

"Good. Were heading to District Four." Ikkaku said.

"We're going to that barbecue place?" Rukia asked.

"Indeed," Yumichika said. "Its one of the few places where Ikkaku can eat with his hands and I can eat with utensils."

"Just follow us," Rangiku said as she looked at Kai. "Ok?"

"Yes Rangiku." Kai replied. Rangiku, Ikkaku, and Yumichika shunpō'ed away. Kai turned to Rukia.

"Just letting you know I'm not interested in Rangiku's efforts," Kai said as he shunpō'ed behind him.

"Wait… does this mean…" Rukia thought.

"It could be a sign he's not dense anymore," Shirayuki commented. Rukia shunpō'ed after them.

Scene Change: North Rukongai: District 4

Rangiku, Ikkaku, Yumichika, Kai, and Rukia arrived in front of the barbecue place.

"Is this the place?" Kai asked.

"Yep," Ikkaku said. Everyone entered the restaurant. It was a small restaurant, but it had a homey feeling to it.

"Ah Ikkaku-san," One of the servers said as she bowed.

"Hello table for five," Ikkaku said.

"Right this way." She said.

"Could we have a private booth?" Rukia asked.

"Sure." She said.

"Actually, make it six," Kai said. They turned to Kai.

"Our private booths fit eight people so it's fine." She said They were escorted to a private room. Slid the door. Everyone could see it was a traditional Japanese set up with a small table, enough for them to sit and eat. There was a string that descended from the ceiling. Everyone entered the private room. The server handed out the menus. "Pull the string if you need any of us." She said as left. Rukia quickly casted a privacy kidō around them.

"So, what's going on?" Ikkaku asked.

"Planning a rebellion?" Rangiku joked. Kai and Rukia stared at her. Rangiku realized they weren't laughing. "You're serious?"

"We are," Kai said.

"Who are you?" Ikkaku glared.

"You told me this when we first met," Kai said as he closed his eyes. "That's a nice name. Men with the word Ichi in their names are often powerful and talented." Ikkaku's and Yumichika's eyes widen.

"No… It can't be." Ikkaku said. Kai smiled.

"It is," Kai said.

"What?" Rangiku asked as she looked at Ikkaku.

"He's,"

"Don't say his name. Call him Kai." Rukia said.

"What's going on?" Rangiku asked.

"He is using the Law of Resurrection to his advantage," Rukia said.

"Who is Kai?" Rangiku asked.

"We never had any really big interactions…" Kai said. "But you and Toshiro were stationed in Karakura Town."

"Its Hitsugaya-taichō," Someone said. All the Shinigami looked around.

"I thought for a second I heard Hitsugaya-Taichō's voice," Rangiku said.

"Same," Ikkaku said.

"Because it is my voice." There was a ripple someone appeared beside them.

He appears to be a short boy with turquoise eyes and spiked white hair. He is dressed in the traditional Shinigami robes with the addition of a Taichō's haori, a green sash around his shoulder, held together by a round, star-like clip.'

"Taichō," Rangiku shouted.

"Its been a while Toshiro." Kai joked. Rangiku's eyes widen with realization.

"Wait… you're really," Rangiku said.

"Yes Rangiku, he is who we're all supposed to look for," Toshiro said. Toshiro looked at Kai and Rukia. "What is this about a rebellion against Central 46?" Toshiro asked. Kai and Rukia began to explain to everyone their findings.

"To think Central 46 would do all of this to further their control over the Gotei 13," Toshiro said, after hearing everything Kai and Rukia said. "They learned the mistakes of their predecessor," Kai said.

"Who else are your allies?" Toshiro asked.

"All of you, Byakuya and Yoruichi."

"We have a few who might also join but we haven't talked to them yet."

"I see…" Toshiro said.

"This will break Soul Society into two, throwing all of us into a Civil War." Toshiro pointed out.

"It might. Especially since most of the rebels will be the upper members of the Gotei 13." Kai said.

"But how will we deal with the Sōtaichō?" Toshiro asked.

"Hopefully, we'll be able to convince him not to get involve or join us," Kai said.

"No, the Sōtaichō always enforced Central 46's orders," Toshiro said. Their serious discussion was interrupted by a large growl. They turned to see it was from Ikkaku.

"For now, let's eat and then figure out the rest later," Ikkaku said as he grabbed the menu. Toshiro sat beside Kai. A few minutes later, everyone decided on their food. Kai gently tugged the bell. The server quickly went to their private room, took their order, and left. A Jigokuchō flew into the room. Toshiro raised his hand. The Jigokuchō landed on his finger and played the message to him.

"I just received a message from Kuchiki-Taichō. He informed everyone that both of you," he pointed at Rukia and Kai, are going to tour the other divisions. Is that related to the rebellion?" Kai smiled.

"It is." He said. "We'll try and meet with the other Taichōs and Fukutaichōs, to see who are willing to join us."

"Smart," Toshiro said. Soon their food was served, and everyone began to eat. Someone ordered sake and drinking began. With Ossan's help, Kai managed to avoid getting drunk despite drinking down the sake. Toshiro, Rangiku, Ikkaku, and Yumichika was fast asleep. While Rukia was barely awake and fully drunk.

"K-kai," She said as she grabbed his left arm. Kai looked at her.

"Yes, Rukia?" He asked.

"I'm h-happy that you're here." She said.

"I am too," Kai said as he looked at her. Rukia's eyes are drunk on emotions unlike two days ago when he first saw her again. Rukia pulled his arm, forcing him to lean towards her. She suddenly kissed him on the lips.

"Thank you for being my hero." She said before she fell unconscious.

"S-s-she kissed me… SHE KISSED ME!" Kai mentally screamed.

"About dam time she admitted her feelings for you," Saru said. Hebi nodded his head.

"At least Renji could rest easy knowing that you will protect her with your life," Hebi added. Kai sighed.

"Ossan, could I use Saigo no Toride [Final Stand] to help me carry them?" Kai asked.

"While it's not intended for that, you could do it," Ossan said. Kai drew his zanpakutō. "Become the darkness to protect the light… Getsu Ankokudzura." Kai said as he activated his fake Shikai. Kai gently carried Rukia in his arm, like a small fragile princess. The black bandages extended themselves and gently wrap themselves around the other unconscious Shinigami. Kai opened the door. The server stood there.

"The bill." She said.

"Forward the bill to Hitsugaya-taichō," Kai said.

"Very well," The server said as she wrote that down. "Thank you and have a good evening." With that done, Kai shunpō'ed back to the Seireitei and dropped off his drunken rebels. During the journey, Rukia unconsciously got comfortable in his arms. Kai arrived back at the Kuchiki Manor. Byakuya sat on the porch, waiting for their return. He noticed Rukia was sleeping in his arms.

"What happened?" Byakuya asked.

"While we were in District One, we meet Rangiku, Ikkaku, and Yumichika. They invited us to go out with them. We joined them to District Four where we ate at a barbecue place there. Toshiro soon joined us. At that point, I told them everything. They're willing to ally themselves with us."

"Good… but that doesn't explain why Rukia was unconscious and in your arms."

"Someone, likely Rangiku, ordered sake. Everyone began to drink. My Zanpakutō was able to counter the sake."

"I see…"

"So…are we good with the tours?" Kai asked.

"All division except for the first, second, and twelfth."

"That's still good," Kai said. "Good night."

"Good night," Byakuya replied as Kai went to his bedroom and went to bed.

Scene Change: Unknown Location

Two men sat in an office. The first one a large man that is mostly bald and with a pair of glasses. The other man is slender with green eyes and dark green hair that's shoulder length.

"Lord Tsunayashiro, my son lost Zabimaru." The large man said.

"Lord Shidō, did the other boy took it?" Lord Tsunayashiro asked.

"My son is not sure. When I ask that Kuchiki girl if she noticed him carrying it when he returned to the Kuchiki Estate. He said that she didn't see it." Lord Shidō said.

"I see…" Lord Tsunayashiro said. "While losing that zanpakutō is a minor setback…we still have others available for us harvest from the Hill."

"Excellent." Lord Shidō said.

"Do you think the boy will be any trouble?" Lord Tsunayashiro asked.

"I don't think so." Lord Shidō said. "Worse comes to worst, I can accuse him of attacking my son and take his Zanpakutō."

"Anything important about the boy?"

"He is well skilled in everything but kidō and basic knowledge. Lord Kuchiki decided to have him receive private tutoring from his sister." Lord Shidō answered.

"Does Lord Kuchiki intend to use these him to break off the arrangement?" Lord Tsunayashiro asked.

"I'm not sure." Lord Shidō admitted.

"Lord Kuchiki has done this before." Lord Tsunayashiro said.

"Yes. Because she was his sister in law." Lord Shidō said. "Are you suggesting this Shiba Kai is related to the main Kuchiki line?"

"Possible," Lord Tsunayashiro said.

"I've already put told the Kuchiki Elders that I fear this private tutoring could devalue Rukia." Lord Shidō said.

"How did Lord Kuchiki respond?" Lord Tsunayashiro asked.
