Chapter 4: HOW ARE WE LOSING!?
General Ironwood was a powerful man. Not only is he the headmaster for Atlas' academy which is ironically named… Atlas Academy, he also commands Remnant's highly technological armies. Oh, and he also occupies three seats in the Council but who cares about the Council? The same headmaster/general had both of his hands on the railings that surrounded the main cockpit of his ship. Men and women inside this ship worked tirelessly in an attempt to bring back order to Vale by wiping out the attackers that got the jump on them.
From his observations for the last ten minutes, it seems that there are three factions that are fighting in Vale; there were the desert camo soldiers, the black camo soldiers and the green camo soldiers. In a stroke of tactical ingenuity, he commanded all the Atlesian Knight-200 that were stationed in the city Vale to attack one of these factions… preferably the ones wearing the desert camo. Well, five minutes later, that tactical ingenuity is finally seeing its fruition.
"Sir, we've just lost another squadron of AK-200s!"
"AK-200 squads down!"
"What!? How!?" Ironwood asked. "You know what, don't tell me. Bring up the feed on one of the AK-200s,"
There were a series of beeps and boops before one of them notified Ironwood that he is being patched through one of the robots. The screen in the center of the cockpit turned on with an initial static before fading away to reveal a first-person perspective of one AK-200. From the looks of it, this singular robot was fighting alongside its metal brethren, shooting down those desert camo targets that he commanded them to attack. A smile was brought to his face when he saw the AK-200 gun down three men just around the corner of the building it was pushing. His smile disappeared however when suddenly, the transmission between the robot and him was unexpectedly lost.
"What happened down there!? I need eyes on what happened down there now!"
Again, the people in the ship pressed buttons, trying their hardest to claim any information about what happened in that area as soon as possible. One of them chimed in and told Ironwood the same words he didn't want to hear.
"The AK-200 along with its squad was destroyed,"
"Destroyed with what!?" Ironwood asked with gritted teeth.
"W-We're working on that as we speak, general," the man said meekly upon meeting the General Ironwood's eyes.
"Well you all better find what caused it as soon as possible or so help me because I'm so close to throwing one of you down there to find out what's happening!"
In his fit of anger, General Ironwood turned around and exited the main deck of his ship. In the hallway that lead to the main deck, the general slammed his metallic arm on the wall, denting it. There was so much to take in and he only has a short amount of time to do it or else, Vale will be swallowed by three armies that he doesn't have the barest of information. Furthermore, from what he understood from a drunken (light weight) Glynda and a sober Qrow is that the enemies that are attacking Vale doesn't have any Aura whatsoever. Which made the general even more confused, AK-200 was designed to quell riots and in certain circumstances be used as a replacement for the normal soldier.
Months and months of programming and designing made the AK-200 the best asset to ever graced the ever-changing battlefield; with its ability to detect hostile targets faster than the average human reaction and a near 100% accuracy, he struggled to believe that the enemies that he's facing right now are doing better than his robots!
The airlock door which led to the main deck opened to reveal his lieutenant, Winter Schnee. He stood up and composed himself before presenting himself to her. A general must be stoic and should have a levelled head.
"What is it lieutenant," he asked.
"We have information about how the AK-200s are being taken out,"
The general took a deep breath before mentally nodding and re-entered the main deck of his ship.
"Show me," he said.
The main screen on the deck lit up again before revealing another first-person perspective of another AK-200. From the looks of it, instead of a recording, this time Ironwood was watching a live feed of the robot's ill fate. Going back on the video, the AK-200 was doing its job, shooting down the enemy with extreme accuracy and efficiency. What made this even better was that it was more than one AK-200; more than ten robots stood side by side, shooting down anything that was wearing a desert camo. That was when it happened.
Behind the cover of debris, jumped two- no three- five jeeps! All of them charging at the robots. Ironwood gave a small chuckle at the actions of these soldiers; a clear indication that they have ran out of options and went for a desperate attack, but he knew that doing such tactics doesn't work against his AK-200s. He watched with slight sadism as the AK-200s down all four jeeps before they all started to aim at the last one.
Then the unexpected happened. The driver suddenly disappeared from the driver seat and seemed to teleport outside of the jeep. Time seemed to slow down as everyone looked at the driver holding a square like device. General Ironwood watched as the jeep closed in on the line of AK-200s, the jeep alone wasn't his concern what his concern was is the number of C4 along with what looks to be an ammo bag stuck on the hood of the jeep. Despite the roaring battle in the video, General Ironwood could hear something click before the entire screen was turned into static.
There was silence on in the main deck before the video continued to play, the perspective of the AK-200 this time was on the ground and tilted sideways. Facing the AK-200 was the face of a dead man wearing a light brown hat with headphones on and sunglasses. He could tell that the individual is already dead. After all, that soldier was so close to the blast radius and he had no cover to get behind to. Another soldier wearing the same uniform, but this time had his full face covered and a proper helmet walked up to the dead corpse. The gun that the soldier was holding disappeared and was replaced with unusual metallic pads.
The soldier proceeded to rub the pads together before the whole main deck heard a high pitch beep followed by the soldier stretching his arms out to the dead man. There was a slight twitch of the corpse before everyone watched the impossible happen. The corpse went from a prone position into fully standing up as if nothing had happened. Then both the soldier who brought his friend back to life and the soldier who died proceeded to crouch up and down repeatedly at a very fast rate before pushing forward.
When the two soldiers finally left, everyone in the main deck watched with horror as the once dead soldiers, who were relentlessly gunned down by Atlas' prizes AK-200s, were brought back to life by soldiers who were equipped with metallic pads. The enemy then proceeded their push, this time followed by bladed aircrafts, treaded war machines and speedy jeeps. Just when General Ironwood was going to go out of the main deck to have a breather, the still streaming AK-200 saw a lone soldier, this time wearing a fisherman's hat and holding what seems to be a sniper rifle.
The soldier aimed up and pulled the trigger.
There was silence in the main deck. General Ironwood tilted his head in confusion before he suddenly heard a woman shriek. Immediately, he looked down to see a one of his men with his head on the desk, blood pooling out and dripping off the table. General Ironwood's eyes went wide and looked back with slight horror at the sniper who was jumping up and down and spinning his gun around at impossible speeds. Then he proceeded to run forwards, not even noticing that he kicked the AK-200s camera, effectively ending the live feed.
"Dear Oum…" James Ironwood thought.
