Guess who's back? (Hide in shame)

So, guys. After a year or something, I've decided to come back to this story, especially now that we're all in quarentene, so there isn't much to do and it's a good way to pretend the world isn't burning. I hope you enjoy the chapter, and i'm sorry for taking so long to finish it (I had it half written already, but I had lost all the inspiration), so here it is. Thanks for the reviews, favorites and follows!

It was around four in the morning when Lisa woke up sensing the smell that made her nose scrunch in disgust; she sat up like a bolt, ready to jump over whoever had dared trespass into her property. She stood up, already shaking because of the smell, and went straight to her living room. That was when someone knocked on her door.

"Who the hell is there?" she growled, coming closer to sniff better. The person answered after a second, and Lisa was surprised by the known voice coming from the other side.

"It's Edward."

It took her some minutes to open the door, not really knowing if that was the right decision or not; she had no idea of why the vampire was there, but she knew pretty well that he disliked her as much as she disliked him. So why in hell would he go there in the middle of the night?

"I'm not here to harm you, Lisa." She winced, forgetting, once again, that he was capable of hearing her thoughts – another thing that made her like him even less. It was really uncomfortable to have someone inside your head without permission.

She opened the door, in the end, her eyes narrowed in suspicion; she looked over the bronze haired vampire who was, as usual, with his sullen expression. She crossed her arms in front of her chest, and squared her shoulders to look more threatening. She wasn't that shorter than him, so it was easy to face him up.

"What do you want?" she inquired after glaring at him for a couple of minutes.

The vampire, in turn, sighed, looking uncomfortable as hell. "Can we talk?" he asked.

"Aren't we doing it?" Lisa retorted, not really in the mood of speaking with that particular vampire at that time in the morning – they still had school in a couple of hours and she was still tired of everything that had happened in the previous day.

"I need your help." he answered reluctantly with his brow furrowed.

Lisa quirked an eyebrow, not really understanding what he meant by that. "Need me for what exactly?"

He was quick to answer. "To change Bella's mind."

The blonde shifted on her foot, eyeing the vampire critically. "About the vampire thing?" she spat, practically disgusted with the idea of her friend becoming one of the "cold ones" as the Quileutes called them.

"Yes," Edward nodded, sighing loudly. "I know that I won't be able to do it; she is so damn stubborn. But maybe if you could talk to her…" he looked over Lisa expectantly, as if she was the answer for all his problems.

Lisa, though, knew she wasn't. Bella and she hadn't been friends for so long, but one thing was certain about the brunette – she was stubborn, hard headed, and didn't listen to people very frequently. It was one of the reasons why she always got into trouble, to begin with. So Lisa was sure that no matter what she told the brunette, hell, even if she dragged Bella away from Edward and his family, the girl would never let that go. She would become a vampire, by the Cullens' hand or not.

Edward, listening to her thoughts, looked sullen once again; the hopefulness disappeared from his eyes, and his shoulders, always so squared and straight, fell in defeat.

"I guess you know my answer…" Lisa shrugged, not bothering to tell him anything. "She won't change her mind about that. You can come up with hundreds of ways of escaping with her and never be found by the Volturi guy, still she would want you to change her. And you know the reason."

Edward looked down at his feet, nodding almost imperceptibly. Lisa could feel the guilty waves coming from him, but that didn't move her a bit. However, she wasn't the kind of person who saw someone suffering and did nothing about it – even if she disliked the person as was the case there.

"It's not…entirely your fault, you know." She tried, shifting uncomfortably on her feet. That was not how she had planned spending her morning. "It's just the way she is." She shrugged, remembering the many times Jacob and her had tried to convince Bella of doing something, only to fail miserably. If anything, the fact that someone was telling Bella "no" probably made her want whatever it was even more.

The vampire, who looked his age at that moment, winced. "I know," he muttered, shaking his head. "At least… try? Maybe?"

Lisa sighed, but nodded. "I could. But I won't be hopeful if I were you."

He nodded back. "Thanks."

With that, he disappeared in a flash inside the woods surrounding Lisa's house, probably going back to Bella's place, where he used to spend the night watching the brunette sleep in a total creepy way, in Lisa's opinion. The wolf stared at the place where he had been only moments before, remembering the whole reunion at the Cullen's residence, and the fact that Bella would soon be a vampire – there was no way to stop that.

Sighing, she finally closed the door, her sleepiness long gone now.

In the morning, Bella sent Lisa a message reminding her that she would go to school with Edward; Lisa was disappointed, but she shrugged the feeling off. She knew the moment she saw Edward that now Bella would be with him 24/7. Luckily for her, she still had Jacob to hang out with.

Speaking of the boy, it had been a day since she last had any news about him. It wasn't much, all things considered, but they used to talk every day, even if it was only a "Have a nice day, asshole" from Lisa, which was soon answered with "You too, dumbass" from him. She decided then that after school she would stop by the reservation, to see how things were doing and also tell Jacob the good news.

She imagined herself with a big poster full of rainbows and unicorns with the sentence "The Cullens are back!" written in pink right in the middle; anything to make the news less turbulent. Perhaps she would buy a burger and some fries to bring him and cheer him up when he finds out that little Dracula boy was back in town.

As usual, she went to her car right after she got dressed and had breakfast; taking out a cigarette and turning on her music, she went all the way down to Forks High School, her mind relaxing a bit with the cool atmosphere inside her car. Music relaxed her more than anything, even sex, and just hearing the acoustic guitar played by Rich Williams in Dust in the Wind made her mind swirl pleasantly.

Soon she was parking in her usual spot in the parking lot, not surprised to see Edward's silver Volvo parked right by the Jeep; the Cullens – Edward, Alice and Jasper, together with Bella, were all looking in her direction after hearing the roar of her engine. She sighed softly when her eyes regarded Jasper; he was wearing a white coat, dark jeans and a disgustingly sexy pair of black cowboy boots. Usually she would find that kind of shoes ridiculous, since they weren't in a western movie neither in the South of the country; however, on him it looked right. God, he was hot. It was impossible not to feel her heart beating faster in her chest just by regarding him.

Turning off her engine, and finishing her cigarette in a big puff, she got out from her car and went towards the vampire family – and the sore thumb that was the image of her friend between them. It was so obvious that they were different from the other humans, with their almost translucent skin and bright golden eyes, that Lisa wondered how only Bella managed to solve the mystery. Bella smiled widely at her, waving, the only one excited to see her in that distinct group of people. Edward, as it seemed to be his trade mark looked as if he was in pain with his brow creased and a somber look, so angsty he could be the poster boy of My Chemical Romance if he so wished; Alice looked all serious and not pleased at all with Lisa's presence, her arms crossed defensively in front of her, and bright golden eyes analyzing her from head to toe. Jasper…the only one of the bunch who really mattered to her, was also the only one who didn't look anything. He appeared emotionless, his face blank as a sheet of paper as he wasn't showing much of what he was feeling, which was pretty ironic considering he had the power of controlling people's emotions. It seemed his were in check.

"Morning," Lisa greeted, trying her hardest to be at least polite. If she was going to get along with them, for Bella's sake, it would be better if they were at least civil to one another. The terribly sweet smell of vampires made her cringe a bit, but she bore it.

"Hi, Lis!" Bella answered, excited; she had the biggest smile on her face. Lisa doubted she had ever seen Bella smile that much since knowing the brunette. "Slept well?"

She wanted to say "No, because your fucking boyfriend, who doesn't need to sleep by the way, decided it would be a good idea to come to my place at 4 in the fucking morning!" which earned her a look from Edward that was far from pleasant. Instead, she nodded her head.

They stood there in awkward silence, neither saying anything. Lisa took the silence to glance briefly at Jasper, who was beside Alice, a bit away from the other three. He wasn't looking at her, rather he was staring at the space in front of them; he looked lost in his own little world, and at that moment Lisa wished she had Edward's ability of reading minds just so she could see what was in his.

"So," Bella cleaned her throat, trying to ease off some of the tension between them. Lisa's dark eyes turned to her. "Did you do the essay on the second world war that Mr. Jefferson asked us to?" she asked, and that snapped Lisa out of her momentary daze.

"Shit, no. I forgot." She groaned, remembering the damn thing they were supposed to do and that the teacher had asked for months ago – it was due in a week. "Did you?"

"Actually, Edward had one of his and he lent me." Lisa scoffed, rolling her eyes.

"Do you have another?" Edward shook his head, though Lisa was pretty sure he must have had a thousand of those essays and just didn't want to share with her.

Asshole, she thought on purpose, knowing he would be able to hear her; the look he sent her told her the mission was accomplished.

"By the way, Bells, I'm going over the rez today. Wanna come with?"

The brunette looked from Lisa to Edward, and that little motion sent alarms in Lisa's mind. "I can't. Charlie grounded me for a month or so," she shrugged, pouting. "Now I have to be stuck at home until he decides I'm good to go."

"Well, you deserve it." When Bella shot her a hurt look, Lisa rolled her eyes. "Please, Bella, you ran off to freaking Italy without telling him. He should have whipped your skinny ass, you know that."

Though she looked indignant by that accusation, Bella didn't retort. "Maybe you could come later?" she asked hopefully.

"Maybe, I'll see with Jake."

Bella flinched at the name, and the action was not lost to Lisa. "Does he…know already?"

Lisa raised one of her eyebrows. "About them?" she pointed her head to the three silent vampires, and Bella nodded. "I didn't tell him yet. I'll today."

The brunette looked like she wanted to say something else, but preferred not to.

"Maybe you should call him, Bells. We were pretty worried about you."

"I will," she nodded, biting her lip nervously. An awkward silence fell between the strange group of three vampires, one wolf shifter and a human – who was, by the way, the craziest amongst them no questions asked.

Lisa shifted on her feet, deciding to glance around and see what the other students were doing; she got really surprised when she realized the majority of the teenagers who had already arrived were looking at them and whispering.

"They are back!"

"And already with the Swan girl. I don't know what they see in her, honestly."

"It's a complete freak show, now with the new girl too. Look at that hair."

"They're so handsome!"

Lisa frowned, crossing her arms while glaring at the students; some of them, realizing she was staring, shifted their glances. The wolf-shifter had both the glare and the looks to send a couple of teens running for their lives.

"The other freak is looking."

"Pff, assholes." She muttered under her breath, wishing for a moment that she didn't have enhanced hearing to listen to all that bullshit.

"Who?" Bella wondered, her eyebrows rising. Lisa turned to look at her, seeing that Edward was also staring at her.

"No one," the brunette was going to say something else but the bell started ringing, saving Lisa of explanations. Smiling, she took Bella's arm, bringing her closer and away from her bloodsucker vampire boyfriend. "Let's go, bestie. Bye, Nosferatus," She winked at Edward. "Alice, Jasper." She nodded to the two, eyes lingering for a fraction on the blonde vampire's figure. His honey- golden eyes regarded her for the first time that day, making her heart beat fast in her chest –which was embarrassing considering they could hear it perfectly from where they were standing. Without thinking too much of it, she smiled at him before carrying Bella in the direction of the school.

Her heart kept beating fast in her chest, and her mind was swirling with the need of turning around and grabbing that vampire and doing unspeakable things to him. He had such a beautiful face, but not the weird beauty that vampires usually had, no; his was much more compelling to her, as it should since he was her mate, and all she wanted to do was rip those damn clothes and mark him as hers for eternity.

Gosh, she thought, her imagination running a bit too wild for that time in the morning. It was impossible not feeling hot in certain places of her body. It's been sometime. Maybe I need a meeting with my pink friend.

"Lis? Are you okay?" she shook her head, looking back at her smaller friend who had a confused expression on her face. "You're a bit flushed."

The blonde, in turn, simply sighed while passing a hand over her face. "I was just imagining what I'm gonna do with that fucking hot vampire once I get my hands on him." she was so blunt that Bella was speechless for a minute.

"Lisa! Ew!" Lisa laughed out loud when her friend blushed furiously.

"What's wrong with fantasizing? I doubt you've never done it before," she shrugged, making Bella even redder. "C'mon, Bells, I know you're no innocent little girl." Lisa rolled her eyes.

She had already seen the way Bella and the creepy vampire emo stared at each other sometimes; she was certain that they wanted to eat each other out as soon as possible. That made her remember that she had never asked Bella if they had done it or not.

"Are you still a virgin?" she wondered, and Bella almost exploded when some people that were around them looked at them with interest.

"Lisa! I'm going to kill you," the blonde, realizing that she had said that too loud, apologized and glared at the curious stares sent in their direction. Sure enough they stopped.

They continued walking in silence for a couple of minutes before Bella found her wit again. "We've…never done that," her voice was almost a murmur, and if Lisa didn't have a very good hearing, she wouldn't have understood that.

"Do you wanna?" it was obvious that she did, but Lisa wanted to make sure. Also, she wanted to have that kind of conversation with Bella because when the time came – and it was about to by the amount of sexual tension between the vampire and the human -, Bella would feel free to tell her and ask for advice.

"Yes," Bella sheepishly told her friend. "But he doesn't… I mean, you know why,"

Deep down, Lisa felt a bit relieved that at least Edward thought about that side of their relationship – and how dangerous it would be for them to have sex. She had never heard about an intercourse between vampire and human that didn't end with the human being killed – it was, after all, normal for vampires to have sex when they were feeding. Also, when creatures that had such strong instincts and were guided by their urges had sex, it could be brutal and violent – she knew that from experience. She had already slept with normal humans, but sleeping with other shifters was a whole other level – and not always pleasant.

"Well, it's not like you're missing much, though," Bella frowned, and she continued. "After all, Edward doesn't inspire a lot of sex appeal."

Before the brunette could answer, Lisa heard a low growl coming from the end of the hallway, where Edward was coming in their direction with Alice and Jasper in toe. She couldn't stop the chuckle that came out of her mouth by the terrible look he had on his face.

The first period of class went by with nothing worth of mentioning; after the first, Lisa and Bella each went to a different class – Lisa to Government, Bella to Biology with Edward. She was wandering down the hall, as usual, thinking about nothing in particular when the smell she was beginning to get used to hit her like a truck. Instantly she searched for him, finding his eyes right at the opposite side of the hallway; it seemed to her as if he felt her too, for he was staring so hard at her that it made her heart leap in her chest.

Slowly, and still looking at one another, they went forward. Dark eyes were connected as if one was a magnet and the other a piece of metal; by each step, Lisa felt her heart pounding harder. Finally, they reached their destination – class number 7, where Mr. Jefferson's class took place.

"Hey," the greeting came out from her lips without her even realizing. The sound of her voice was what made Jasper snap out of his daze. He blinked, his face void of any particular emotion.

Then, cleaning his throat, he answered her. "Hey," and entered the room without giving a second look in her direction, much to Lisa's sadness and disappointment.

She stared at his back while he passed through some of the students talking to each other. His walk was stiff, his shoulders squared like a tense bow ready to snap at any time. When he finally sat down, looking straight ahead at the black board, Lisa decided she would be bold.

After all, Lisa wasn't some inexperienced teenager feeling nervous with her crush; oh no. She was a woman all right, and a wolf that had just found her mate, nevertheless. Her hormones were all over the place, and all because of that handsome blond vampire. Unable to stop herself, she went in his direction, seeing that the place next to him was empty – probably because of the scary waves he was sending and the hard glare he had. So, cautiously she walked towards him, her eyes set on his face. When she was close enough, she saw the muscles on his arms shift, and his mouth set in a hard line.

"Do you mind?" she wasn't actually asking, since she was already putting her things over the desk; he sent her a sideway look that straight burned into her soul. He was feeling it, too.

"By any means," at last he said, turning to look straight ahead again.

To say that was a tense class was an understatement. It was the first time Lisa spent so much time that close to him, and it had its effects. The entire class all she could do was pay attention to him, though not necessarily looking at him; she felt his incredible smell – wood, rain, warmth, home; it sang to her, making her want to bury her nose between his neck and shoulder, sensing all the smell coming from his skin. The wolf inside of her wanted to take him away from there, bite him, mark him as hers for eternity. Sometimes, she would briefly look in his direction, though never meeting his eyes because he seemed to refuse to acknowledge her. She also sensed waves of nervousness and something else that she couldn't pinpoint coming from him and hitting her like tides crashing against stone. Bella had told her he was an empath, a being capable of sensing others emotions, so she was aware that he probably could sense the desire and passion coming off of her on the same way she felt his distress.

Mr. Jefferson was telling the story of whatever, and all Lisa could do was wonder how amazing it would be to have that vampire between her legs, loving her, eating her…A deep, longing sigh left her lips without her even noticing, her imagination and desire getting the best of her.

"Mr. Jefferson!" out of the blue, Jasper stood up from his seat, snapping her out of her day dreaming. Everyone in the classroom stared at him in wonder, even the teacher, who barely heard him during his classes. "May I go to the restroom?"

"Yes, Mr-" Jasper didn't even wait for the whole answer; he just shot from his seat and went outside. Lisa frowned, wondering what the hell happened for as much as she knew, vampires didn't need to go to the bathroom.

He didn't come back, though the imp appeared to take his things from the desk. Alice shot Lisa a hard glare before storming off of the room without looking back. It was impossible for Lisa not to feel angry, after all she was sure Jasper had asked for Alice's help.

Jealousy crept into her being, making her close her hands into fists and grind her teeth. If she wasn't in the middle of a bunch of humans, she would have bitten a piece of her skinny ass, then used her bones as toothpicks. For the next couple of classes, Lisa was fuming, her glare so hard that people went away from her as she walked down the hall. Bella was with Edward and Alice when Lisa finally came with a bunch of books on her arms; as her eyes fell on the short vampire, she had to resist the urge to tackle her and wrap her hands around her neck.

"Where's is he?" she asked with a low, dangerous voice after she threw her books into her locket. Alice bristled, golden eyes getting darker and filled with hatred.

"It's none of your business." the vampire spat, taking a step forward in Lisa's direction. Lisa did the same, glaring down at Alice as if she was a mere bubblegum that had gotten stuck under her boot.

"He's my mate." The shifter growled, getting angrier by the second. Her hands shook, eyes glowing red. It was for that reason that Edward decided to intervene, before both girls blow away two races' secrets.

"Hey, could you knock it off?" he snapped while getting in the middle of the two women without attracting much attention to them. The two continued to glare at each other, however, as if he wasn't there in the middle. "If you keep getting at each other's throats, people will notice. Alice!"

The small vampire briefly looked at her brother, and after seeing his serious expression, she shrugged and turned around.

"Whatever." Was all she said with her rather infantile voice. It made Lisa's skin crawl.

Her hands were still shaking from the anger that vampire instilled in her. It was completely normal for shifters and vampires to hate each other. Even if she had never actually met a vampire before Laurent, Victoria and the Cullen's, Lisa knew all there was to know about them, because they were an important part in her own culture and people. Wolf shifters, called long ago Úlfhéðnar are said to be created as counter creatures to Draugrs, the immortal blood drinkers that were never supposed to walk on the earth. They were immortal enemies, repelling forces that were not supposed to get along. Alice, Edward, and even the other Cullen's made Lisa's instincts yell at her, and it was only because she was old enough to control herself that she managed to be in the same place as them.

However, with the pull of the mate, the hálft, everything was worse for her. She could easily loose her control if Alice kept getting in the middle of her and her mate, it was only natural for her to do so.

That's why, after taking a deep breath to control herself again – it had happened three times already in only two days -, she turned her focus to Edward. Both he and Bella were looking at her, the vampire in front of Bella while her brunette friend held on his arm.

"You need to tell your sister to back off. If she doesn't, I'm gonna attack her. You know it." She told him through clenched teeth. Bella's eyes widened, but before she could say anything, Edward answered.

"You need to control yourself. Remember, if you attack her in front of the humans, you're going to reveal not only yourself, but us as well. Is that what you want?"

Anger exploded in Lisa, though she reigned it in. "Of course not!" she spat, getting closer to his face; a warning growl came from deep within Edward's chest. "But you know as well as I do that if she keeps getting between me and him, I'll act on my instincts. He's my mate Edward. Even if he's with her."

Edward had nothing to say to that, so they just stared at each other until Bella interrupted.

"So, are we going to lunch or what?"

The cafeteria, as always, was full. Lisa grabbed her tray and filled it with the usual amount of food she ate before marching to the table Bella and her usually sat at. It usually was free, but of course that day couldn't get worse; Alice was there already, her own tray filled with food, though she couldn't eat. Lisa thought hard about turning and going to another table, but her pride made her stomp over there and sit down, pretending not to see Alice's glare in her direction.

The tension was palpable; Lisa inhaled her food, chewing so hard that it was possible to hear the clicks her very pointy teeth made as she tore through the food – imagining it was a certain vampire's head. As for Alice, never in her life had the vampire seemed so out of her element. Usually she was energetic and the personification of joy, but now she was somber, eyes dark and she emanating dark energy. Bella kept glancing between her two closest friends, not happy about the tense situation, but she couldn't do anything; every once in a while, Edward would wince at the terrible thoughts coming from the shifter and his sister, though he never said anything about it.

Lisa was fuming, basically. She tried really hard to ignore the presence of Alice beside her, focusing her attention on the food in front of her, but the sweet smell coming from the vampires didn't help her so much. When it was mixed with the scent of Jasper, it made everything worse. She wondered where he was and why he had gone away from the class so abruptly. It made her anxious to not know how he was feeling, if he was alright or if he was in pain because he was forced into inhabiting the same place of his prey.

She got it. Of course, she didn't know how it felt like to feel the burning thirst for humans that vampires seemed to endure. However, she knew how it felt like to keep hiding who you were and pretending you weren't a deadly predator. Although wolf shifters didn't hunt people as the vampires did, they – at least Lisa's clan – still had the urges and impulses of animals. For instance, if a wolf shifter felt threatened, they would be anxious and ready to fight if it was necessary; even with food, when Lisa's clan hunted for animals as a pack, there was a hierarchy to eat the prey, starting with the Alphas – male and female -, then the Beta, the other unranked wolves until it was the Omega's turn. If one wolf interrupted the feeding of another one out of turn, it would certainly lead to a fight.

There was a wilderness inside these supernatural creatures that was impossible to tame. The Cullen's and the Quileute pack were examples of domestication and repression of certain urges; Lisa, though, was a wolf first, and a human next, so her wild side was always at the forefront – one of the reasons why it was so difficult to see her mate with another woman. She imagined if with Jasper it was the same. He still had a wild side that was impossible to domesticate, thus complicating his life and that of his coven, after all he was seen as the weak link, the one with more probabilities of following his urges.

"That's interesting." Everyone snapped their heads to Edward, who was looking at Lisa with a thoughtful expression. "You seem different from the Quileutes."

Despite feeling bothered by the fact that he was hearing her, again, Lisa answered. "That's because we are." She shrugged, not really bothering to formulate.

She didn't know the extension of knowledge the Cullen's had regarding the Quileute's and their wolf shifting abilities, so she wouldn't be the one to divulge anything.

"Lisa was born a wolf." Bella, though, had no regards to keeping a secret it seemed. Lisa glared at her at the other side of the table. The human, seeing her friend's dark eyes set upon her, shrunk besides Edward, who instantly put his arm around her shoulders. "Sorry."

The blonde sighed loudly, tired of that day already. "Whatever."

The bell finally rang, and the distinct group of people all stood up, each of them going into a different class. The rest of the school day passed by in a blur for Lisa, and when the last bell rang, she jumped out of the chair and scurried out of the school, eager to go to the reservation and talk to Jacob, maybe even Leah if the wolf was up to it.

She didn't wait for Bella – she knew the brunette wouldn't even realize she was already gone, not with Mr. Pale-as-Hell besides her. So, Lisa didn't bother looking for her friend, she went straight to her car, getting in and moving on straight to the rez.

Jacob was not happy, but Lisa already knew he wouldn't be. As soon as she got to the rez, parking in front of the Black's small house, Jacob was there to greet her. His hands were black with grease as he practically pulled her car door out of its hingers in his eagerness to talk to her. Of course, he had heard that Bella was back, Charlie had called Billy to let him know, and boy was he mad.

"I can't fucking believe she didn't even let us know!" he roared as he kicked a poor tree, making it move a bit against the strength of his leg. Lisa sighed, taking out a cigarette and leaning on her car. She knew he would fume for hours, not that she really blamed him. "And now the bloodsuckers are back in town! Fucking amazing!"

He kept venting for at least half an hour before Lisa had had enough; she had smoked two cigarettes already, and her head was starting to hurt a bit from all the talking and the bad day she has had so far.

"Okay, Jake, enough." He snapped his mouth shut as he stared at her, hands still in the air from his angry movements. "I get you're angry, but please you sound like a broken record."

"It's just… I'm so… So…Urgh!" he almost ripped his hair as he pulled at it with his dirty hands. "And she didn't even care enough to call. The hell?"

"I know." Lisa muttered, her gaze softening as she saw why exactly Jacob was so upset. It wasn't because of the Cullens – though he wasn't happy about it either -, but because Bella, his crush, was back with her boyfriend, who happened to be a vampire. "It is what it is, Jakey."

Jacob sighed deeply, sitting down on the ground. His brown eyes were so sad all of a sudden that Lisa felt the urge of cuddling the poor boy. She resisted, though, knowing that Jacob didn't want her pity.

"I thought she would get over him, you know?" with me was implicit, Lisa knew. It wasn't hidden that Jacob truly liked Bella as more than a friend, and maybe, with time, Bella could have loved him back.

Now, though, Lisa knew that would never happen. She had never seen anything like Bella and Edward. The two were completely obsessed with one another, that much was clear for her. The way Bella looked at Edward as if he was the air she needed to breath in order to survive made Lisa realize why her friend had been so depressed when he broke up with her. It made her worry; the wolf shifter wasn't new in terms of relationships, she had her fair share of boyfriends – and even a husband -, and that was enough for her to understand that Bella and Edward's relationship wasn't healthy. She knew Bella would kill and die for the vampire, and he would do the same. Now, more than ever, she got why Bella loved Romeo and Juliet so bad.

"Listen," she took a deep breath, eyes glued on the top of her boots. "Bella, she's completely in love with that guy, Jake. I don't like him anymore than you, in fact I wanted to rip his cold dick and feed to the Piranhas in the Amazon, but she chose him. There's nothing we can do about it, except accept it." She finished with a shrug.

Jacob ruffed his hair with a bitter expression that didn't match his juvenile face. "What does she even see in him?"

"Good question."
