When I first landed on earth with the rest of the hundred I never imagined this is how my life would turn out. First, I figured I would die from radiation then death by a grounder. But that didn't happen instead the earth was safe. Well relatively safe for life with mutant gorillas the clan's raiders bandit's mountain men. Anyways the earth was a safe place to live. We fought a war with Anya's clan then the mountain each time winning but each time with a cost.
Now here I am. Months of planning and organising have all been leading up to this day. My wedding day. Hundreds of azgedains have made the journey to the azegda capital to bare witness to the union between Wanheda and Ontari princess of azgeda. A union which to secure azgeda's place as the most feared and respected clan while being the first step in Queen's Nia plan to seize control over all clans. But I don't care about any of that today. Today is about me and Ontari. How we've grown since the first time we met and how we still have a long way to go together. And I hope we will have the chance to be together after the war.
"Are you ready Clarke," Alexis asks while putting the finishing touches on my makeup. I say makeup but it's more like tribal markings. In Azgeda the couple in a union wear face marking to represent which tribe we originated from and how we are strengthening the bond between the individual tribes. Since I wasn't born in Azgeda I wasn't sure if I was allowed to take part in this part of the ceremony but Queen Nia made it clear that although I wasn't born in these lands I am still one of them and therefore would hold the mark of the capital since this is where I did all of my training and where I first became a part of Azgeda. If I didn't hate Queen Nia and wasn't planning on killing her I would consider this the act of a true leader accepting me into her clan and people. Shame she only does it to grow her own power. Still. It's the nicest thing she's ever done for me.
"Which part," I ask Alexis trying to settle my nervous about today. I don't even know why I'm so nervous about my wedding day. Maybe because it's because it's my wedding day. Nothing will go wrong calm down. Oh, who am I kidding it's me something always goes wrong. Ok .ok. ok breath.
Alexis releases a small chuckle obviously seeing my mini panic attack. "It's ok to be scared, Clarke." She says with a gentle reassuring smile. "Most people are scared but there is nothing to worry about. No one would dare interfere with this day. And if they do, they won't make it within a mile of the union. Ontari will see to that."
Feeling somewhat calmer I thank Alexis for her help and make my way to the ceremony. Quickly I repeat the vows in my head and prayer I don't mess up during the ceremony. Taking my place across from Ontari it seems all my uneasy feelings about today and the future disappear as I look at my bride. Ontari is marked with the Miaga tribe markings four white dots in a line running down each side of her face with the two dots on her forehead joined together by a thick grey line with a moon crescent on the middle. The two dots at the bottom of her face are joined by a curved blue line. All I can think is she looks beautiful like this. Then again, I always think she looks beautiful.
Standing behind us is every important figure in Azgeda political and militant structure. Naturally, the Queen Nia stands behind us radiating glee at her triumphant. Everything she has planned for us begins today as once we are married in the eye's of the other clans Azegda will be undefeatable. Me and Ontari will bring the everyone to their knees with her pulling our strings. Nobody will be as feared or respected as us in that moment.
However, today isn't the day to think about what comes after. Today is about mine and Ontari's love and nothing will come between us. The priest or at least their version of a priest come forward. And starts the bonding ceremony speaking in Azegdan "Throughout our lives, we meet induvial who leave a mark on who we are who we will become. Everyone has a vital role in who the people around will grow into and some are blessed to become vital to that individual. Here stand two warriors who have fought and bled for Azegda. Killed for the safety of our nation and suffered at other hands but yet here they stand strong and united for what is still to come in their lives. Love is a powerful emotion that makes everyone stand higher and fighter harder. The union of two Indvidual's helps to unite our people and protect us from those who wish to harm us." Gently he ties a silk clothe around our hands. "And it gives me great pleasure to bless the union of Clarke of the ice nation and Ontari of the Ice Nation. May your love melt the snow and protect each other."
Now it's time for me and Ontari to say our vows. The words must be said at the same time to show that we have truly united and bonded our souls. "May this clothe act as the tying of our souls and unite us in our love from this day and until till the day I die. For my love for you is my reason we bind ourselves together to share our souls for all to witness to embrace the good and the bad each other lives and for the spirits bond. For now, we are one. One heart one soul. Till death do us part."
"All have heard your vow you may now seal the union." The priest states smiling lovingly at us. Wasting no time and I'm not sure who moved first but me and Ontari seal our union with the kiss. All around us people are clapping and cheering and for one single moment everything is perfect is this hell I've found myself in for the moment I set foot on the dangerous beautiful planet.
