A Love That Lasts Forever

Chapter 10

(In Grandmas point a view)

It was later in the afternoon; I drove Jo down to the hospital. Her social worker told us that she would meet us there. I know that this is going to be an extremely hard day, it took us almost an hour to get there. I could tell that Jo seem scared. We arrived at the hospital and I had to talk Jo into walking in there.

"I can't do this Mrs Tracy; I don't want to go in there just to make a fool of myself. I really don't want to do this."

"Jo listen to me; you have done the right thing by telling us what went on in there. You need to do this for yourself and for other young girls who comes across these people."

"I just don't want to be on my own with anyone other than your family."

"I'll be there when you are getting examined and I won't leave your side during it. You are safe now."

"You promise Mrs Tracy?"

"Yes, now come on my dear, lets get you sorted then once we get back home, I will run you a nice bath later." I said while taking her out of my car and putting my arms around her to walk her in. we were met by her social worker and support officer just outside the hospital doors.

"Hey Jo, I have booked you into a rape suit, I won't lie to you this isn't going to be easy. There will be a lot of test that you need to go through, there will also be a support officer in there with you while they are getting done." Said Paige

"Paige could I please have Mrs Tracy come in with me?"

"That is fine Jo, you can have someone in with you while it is happening. Everything will be fine." Said Paige as she put her hand on Jo's shoulder. We walked into the hospital and we were led into the rape suite. Paige went out to speak to the support officer, as this was happening, I got Jo onto the bed and into a hospital gown.

Once Jo got onto the bed, I could tell that she was shaking and about to break down on me again. It took almost four hours to do all the tests that needed to be done. After they were done, we made our way to the police station. I called Jeff so that he could meet us there. We decided that if I took Jo to the hospital to get checked then Jeff would support her through the interview. I knew once the interview starts then more details will come out.

(In Jeff's point a view)

So, I had met my Mother with Jo at the police station, we got a surprise because Scott came home from college for the weekend. I told him what was happening, and he was happy to sit with his brothers for me. We both got led into the interview room where the support officer and police officer were there.

"Hello Mr Tracy, my name is Polly Page and I will be Jo's support officer through this. This is June Actland the police officer who will able taking her statement as I chat with Jo about what happened." I was so glad to see that it was two females chatting to Jo about this. They took Jo into an interview room where there was a camera and a microphone. I had stayed outside in case Jo needed me.

"Okay Jo why don't you start by telling us what happened from the very start? Do not rush it take all the time that you need. If you need a break just let us know and we will stop." Said June Actland

"It all started while I was in the middle of doing my homework, they both came in from work and had expected me to do things for them."

"What things did they want you to do?"

"It was always putting on a wash, cleaning or babysitting when they wanted to go out to enjoy themselves. I decided that day that I would go and spend some time with my friends from School. I stayed with them for dinner then about an hour later they both walked me back home."

"Then what happened?"

"Once I got in, they asked me where I was, so I told them that I was with friends, they told me to go upstairs my foster parents followed me up there a few minutes later."

"Jo you are doing really well here, keep going." Said Polly

"They both came up and started beating me for no reason, then my foster mother or I can't do this." Said Jo breaking down again

"Okay why don't we take a ten-minute break here and get a drink? While Jo was taking a break, Polly came to chat to me.

"Are you okay with the questions that we are asking Jo? We need to get as much information as possible."

"I am fine with it; I knew that she was getting beatings because that was the first thing Jo had told us. I didn't think that she could have been raped, could I go in and speak to her?"

"No problem Mr Tracy I will stand out here should you need anything." The police officer was kind enough to knock off the microphone so that I could speak to her in private. I made my way into the interview room and I could see that Jo was upset now.

"Hey Jo, you are doing really well here, don't stop now. If you have a chance to put these two away, then go for it. You are being very breve here and you are taking a stand for young girls who can't maybe because of you they will come forward now that you have told the police what is going on. Goodness knows how many children they have done this too under their care and you are the first to take a stand."

"Okay Mr Tracy I will carry on with the rest of my statement, ever since I came to live with you and your family, I feel safe now and I don't want to leave you now."

"Are you scared that your social worker would move you away from us?"

"What if that happens?"

"Your social work seems okay that you are happy where you are at the moment, believe if there was a chance that you would get moved then I will work around so you don't have too even if it means that I have to adopt you. I am willing to take that chance, but we will see what happens here."

"Thanks for chatting with me, I think I can carry on now." Said Jo with a smile, I walked back out to let Polly and June know that Jo was ready to talk again. So, the microphone was turned on again and the interview restarted.

"Okay Jo what else happened?"

"My foster mother pulled my Jeans down while my foster Dad put something in my mouth so I wouldn't scream it all happened so fast."

"Go on."

"He got on top of me and I just wanted him off me, my foster mother had her phone out, so I wasn't sure if she was taking a video or photos, but I was really scared. I don't really want to say anymore now."

"Okay Jo you have done really well with explaining what happened. What happened after you went through that." Asked June Actland

"when they went out of my room, I managed to climb out of my bedroom window and went to Mr Tracy's because I knew that I would be safe there."

"You are a star Jo after getting through all this." Said Polly who led Jo back outside to me, I took Jo back home and was told that her test results would be back within a few hours. We arrived home and my Mother had a bath ready for her to get into, while my Mother was up with Jo, I took Virgil and Scott into the kitchen.

"How did everything go Dad? Virgil has just filled me in on what happened."

"Everything went fine boys; the police have been told everything and we are just waiting on test results coming back. It will take a few hours, we had to stop halfway through so that Jo could get a break. I got told that the police will be going to arrest them. Jo is going ahead with the chargers."

"Can I see her Dad?"

"Your Grandmother is seeing to her Virgil; Jo has had one hell of a day and I want her to relax and rest now." I said to Virgil

I went back into the living room to see that both Alan and Gordon were watching the tv while John was reading a book. After Jo had finished, she made her way downstairs where I knew my 2nd born would be waiting for her at the bottom of the stairs. As soon as Jo walked down the stairs my son pulled her into his arms for a hug.

"I am so very proud of you for what you did today, you are amazing."

Just then I got a phone call to tell me that Jo's tests results with all clear, but it did confirm that she was raped by her foster Father. Now that this was over there is just the court case to go and I am so glad that Jo doesn't have to go to that because she has been through enough today. We had some dinner then Scott took both Gordon and Alan to the park while John returned to his room for the night. Since Virgil hadn't seen Jo all day, he spent some time with her. I went into the kitchen to get a coffee to come back into notice that they both had shared their first kiss together. I didn't know rather to be pleased about this or not, but I knew one thing we had got Jo through the worst as a family and that's all that mattered right now.
