CHAPTER 1: Escape Into Vale
It was a cold night as the wind swept over the land and beyond. The Kingdom of Vale was ravaged by a thunderstorm as dark clouds covered the heavens only to be disturbed by rapid momentary flashes of lighting. The senior hunters and huntresses of Beacon Academy were up and about manning the borders of the Kingdom at this late hour. Ozpin stood in his office watching the brewing storm, wondering about the unusual weather.
"Professor?"
"What is it, Glynda?" He asked without taking his eyes off the city scape.
"Team CFVY and the rest of the higher ups are have reached their designated positions."
"Very good. So how are you feeling, Glynda?"
"Me? I'm alright. But our students... I worry for their safety despite their training."
"We don't have a choice. If the people of Vale is frightened enough by this strange weather, the people will surely attract grimm into the city."
"Of course, Professor. But I hope this is all this is: a strange weather."
Deep in the forest, a lone shirtless faunus ran as bullets zipped passed him, hitting trees and rock. He had spiky long black hair, a long tail with bone-white, crytal-looking spikes that ran from the back of his neck all the way to the tip of the tail, he glared with red eyes that glowed at will.
The moment he was able to gain enough distance he would stop behind a tree to hide and take a breather and assess his situation as orders were being barked from afar by his persuers:
"Find him!"
"I think I saw him there!"
"Follow me!"
"Hunters!" A male voice cried then gunfire ensued between the two forces but all of this was out of his sight, he was only concerned with staying alive and away from all the uncessary violence. He took the opportunity to run away as fast as he could until he reached a roadway, knowing he was close to Vale's borders. "I must get to Vale." He thought as the hail began to pour. Even though he was not injured, he was exhausted from all the running and his belly rumbled as hunger began to take hold.
He jogged along the road for a while until he reached the entrance to the city where it was heavily guarded with police cars and hovering bullheads.
Dripping from the head down, he was welcomed by a bright light to the face from several spotlights and this caused him to cover his faces with his hands.
"Halt!" A voice from a megaphone commanded from a hovering bullhead!"
"This is the Vale City Police! Stay where you are!"
"Alright!" He replied.
"faunus! Turn around and put your hands behind your back! Any violent reaction will be met with lethal action!" Vale's finest had their weapons at the ready and the sharp-eyed faunus didn't fail to notice. He gulped a bit but was determined enough to get inside the city.
"I hope this is better than what's out there." He thought as he was being fitted chains as substitute for handcuffs.
