Chapter 18

Phantom Headquarters

Lucy's POV

"Hrnng!"

As I slowly opened my eyes, all I could see was a floor I didn't recognize.

"What the-? How did I get here" as I pulled myself up only to realize my hands were tied behind my back.

"You know, I think I've been in this position before"

Though this probably isn't the time to reminisce.

The last thing I remember was…

"So you're finally awake, I was getting worried about you, Lucy"

When I turned my back and saw the only door in this room "Who are you?" I asked, trying to keep calm.

The door opened and a man dressed in fancy clothes, bat wings, a symbol that I can't help remember seeing somewhere before, and the man himself seemed to give off an eerie vibe.

My suspicions were only confirmed with his next words.

"I am Master Jose Porla, of the Phantom Lord Guild"

"You're with Phantom?!" as I finally remember what happened to me before, being captured by two members of the Element Four, though I'm not sure why.

"First of all, I'd like to apologize for this dingy cell, and being tied up must be degrading. But I'm afraid I had no choice my dear. That is how you treat a prisoner after all" as he tried to act polite, but all that did was piss me off.

"You're the jerks who attacked my friend Levy!" as I yelled in anger "You'd better let me go, my friends are gonna come looking for me" as I glared at this so-called Guild Master, compared to Master Makarov this guy only seems like he'd be bad news.

As he rubbed his chin as if in contemplation for a moment "Depending on your willingness to cooperate, I'm fully prepared to treat you as Phantom Lord's esteemed guest, rather than as some lowly prisoner" as he spoke I couldn't help but think there's gotta be some sort of catch.

"What do you mean by that?" though before I could ask I saw a bug crawling on my leg and quickly shook it off in disgust.

"See? You don't want to stay in here, do you?" he says while smiling eerily at me.

"I have a beautifully decorated suite waiting for you, if you'll promise to behave"

Not that I cared for his attitude, there were more important things to do now.

"Why does your guild keep attacking us?" and that's finding out why this guy has been targeting members of our guild, from what Erza and the others told me they've had scuffles with Phantom before, but not to this scale.

"What possible reason could they have for going to war with Fairy Tail?" as this was the best chance to figure it out.

"Who is "Us"?" as he seemed confused for a moment before realizing "Oh, I'm sorry, are you talking about Fairy Tail?"

Then, his face broke out to an evil grin that creeped me out even more, but it was what he said after that solidified it.

"It was a means to an end… and that's all"

"What?" as that only gave me more questions than answers.

"You seem we were working towards our main objective of acquiring a certain someone. It so happens to be that certain someone is a member of Fairy Tail. So if we have to destroy the guild to get a hold of them, so be it"

"Who are you talking about?" as I continue to question him he snickers before continuing.

"You're such a naive young lady. Not at all what I'd expect from a debutante

What he said brought back memories I'd rather never remember.

….NONONONONONONO!

" I'm talking about you, of course. Lady Lucy, the privileged daughter of the wealthy Heartfilia family" as he seemed to enjoy my reactions.

Yet trying to keep my ground I ask "How did you find out about that?" yet my mind was slowly filling with questions.

No one should even know about that.

"You know, I'm surprised you never told your fellow guild members the truth. And I don't understand why the daughter of a wealthy tycoon would stoop to such cheap and dangerous work as wizarding for such a low class Guild, do you?"

"Then.. I've been kidnapped?" as I can't help but think of that as the only reason.

Yet he shook his head in denial "No dear, I promise it's nothing like that. We're not looking for ransom money. We're just doing our job"

"Job? What job? Answer me!" as I felt that the worst has yet to come.

… And I was right.

As Jose revealed "We were hired by your father to bring you home to him"

"!" as my shoulders started to shake just from hearing that.

"No,I don't understand, why would he want me back?"

He hasn't even bothered to look for me after so long, it makes no sense at all.

Why should he care now?

"Why do you seem so confused? Any father would go looking for a daughter who ran away from home"

"Not him" I know for a fact that he wouldn't do something like that, he's never been a real father.

"Honestly I'm shocked he even noticed that I was gone"

All he cares about is…

"I'm not ever gonna go back to that house! I don't want anything to do with him!" as I yell at the top of my lungs how I truly feel about that man.

Yet Jose didn't seem the least bit perturbed.

"Oh dear, I should have known that you'd be problematic"

"Well then, you might as well just let me go"

"I'm sorry, but I can't do that"

"Well great, what now?" as I contemplated my options I realized there's only one thing to do.

"Please… I need to go to the bathroom"

Fool this old geezer

As for Jose.

"Give me a break, you don't think I'd fall for the oldest trick in the book, do you?"

This was followed by squirming and telling him this was for real.

Suddenly he brought a bucket from seemingly out of thin air and placed it on the floor next to me, leaving me both shocked and wonder as to where he pulled that out from, and obviously not his hat.

He then proceeded to laugh in my face as he was seemingly prepared for anything.

All I could think was...

"You poor fool"

"Sigh~ Guess it'll have to work" as I got off the floor and placed myself behind the bucket.

Eventually he caved in and turned around as he went on about being a gentleman.

A Golden Opportunity Appears!

"Hmph!" I couldn't help but smirk as I kicked him in-between the legs.

Ding!Ding!Ding!

AAAHHHHHHHHH!

It's the one place no man no matter how strong they become can overcome.

"You know, there's a reason old tricks are still around. Because they work" as I felt like I had gotten a little payback for all the crap he's pulled so far.

As I lowered my foot I turned around and headed for the huge window outside, only to stop short of the edge for only one reason.

High

We were actually pretty high up.

The fact that it was actually at the top of a tower of some sort, and that given how high the winds were blowing we were well over five stories high, there was simply no way I could jump from this height.

Then that bastard started making his way towards me while limping.

"I must admit, you really did a number on me, young lady"

As I turned around I could tell that he wasn't going to simply let that slide.

"...y"

"!"

"Was that..." as I stood on the edge and gazed out into the distance, I swore I heard something.

"But you're not going to get away with it. You will be punished" so he says as I grit my teeth in anger.

As he smiled with a sadistic glee "I'll show you just how terrifying Phantom Lord can be!"

"Like hell I will, I won't let you, or anyone else tell me what to do!"

As I close my eyes and do the only thing I can to protect my friends.

I let myself fall over the edge.

The wind blowing my hair all over the place.

With every passing second I feel myself accelerating faster and faster.

And yet, I'm not worried…

It's because...

"I heard him, I know I did. I know he's here"

He always has been, since the first day I met him.

As for why or how, I don't care.

But I do know this.

"SHAWN!"

I feel like… he's someone I can always rely on.

Shawn's POV

"LUCCCCCYYYYYYYY!"

As I enter the premises I see Lucy has already jumped off the tower and started falling.

"Shit, not good, Burst" as I released a blood red magic circle and more than doubled my speed.

Placing myself right underneath her, I then jump on the outer edge of the building and use it as a springboard to propel myself even higher.

The next moment she's right in front of me, and I quickly wrapped her tightly in my arms, though because of that our momentum cancels each other out.

Using that brief moment I placed my legs on the side of the building and pushed us off.

Though now we're headed straight for a brick wall.

"Armament Extension" as I enveloped both me and Lucy in my aura just before we crashed into it.

BOOOM!

Followed by a cloud of dust and smoke, I could hear Happy "Whoa, it's raining Lucy's" from beyond my sight.

Though I've got bigger problems to deal with right now.

As the dust settled I felt my face covered by something that I don't know whether I should count myself lucky or unlucky.

That former being that I was able to make it in time, and that there haven't been any Distortions up to this time, other than the fact that it was Lucy who called out my name and that I was the one who caught her instead.

As for the latter though…

Munya~

"MMPHHH! (mufled sfx)"

Is the fact that my face is currently buried deep in Lucy's bosom.

Which for the record I had no idea would turn out like this.

I had felt them before back on Galuna, but given my injured state I was in no position to really enjoy it.

My mind had temporarily become a blank slate as neither me or Lucy said anything for a moment.

Until…

"Shawn….. thank you… I knew you'd save me" as she looked at me with eyes that seemed to be gratitude, but also something else.

Something not even I could make out at the time.

A Few Moments Later

I pulled out Celeste and used to cut the ropes binding her.

"..."

I honestly didn't know what to say, after that little debacle it felt a bit awkward.

Besides she must have already discovered the truth behind Phantom Lord's attacks on Fairy Tail.

So to say it isn't easy to find the right words to say was understatement.

But I still needed to break the ice somehow.

"Lucy, are you alright?" as I waited for her response.

She spent a few moments rubbing her wrists before nodding her head.

"I think so" as she sat there and seemed lost in thought.

"That's good news, okay, we'd better head back to the Guild" said Happy as both him and Natsu had caught up with me.

"What? That's their headquarters. Let's get e'm" while Natsu votes for attacking them now, which is a bad idea, even if that bastard Jose is still probably reeling from Lucy's attack.

Quite frankly, we're still no match for him.

Even if he's a piece of shit that doesn't deserve to even breathe the same air as the rest of us, that won't change the fact that he's still one of the Ten Wizard Saints.

We only came here to save Lucy, not to pick a fight with someone we have no chance of beating right now.

For once I have to agree with Happy and heading back to the Guild is our best option for the time being, as both Happy and Natsu argue with each other, Lucy overhears the state of the Guild in between and seems to think that this is all her fault.

"Ahh dammit" as I see her lips quivering she starts apologizing and grabs the hem of her skirt while crying.

"All of this, everything… it's my fault. But I don't want to leave. I wanna stay with you guys" as her shoulders start shaking and her tears threaten to overflow.

"Because… I love being in Fairy Tail!" as she looks up and my mind once again goes blank.

I've been in this world for a while, but I've known her since long before then, that she truly means that from the bottom of her heart.

Natsu and Happy don't have the slightest clue what's going on or what to say to her, and neither do I.

But that doesn't apply to my body.

And so… I take a knee… and hold her gently from behind.

"!"

Though I can't see her face, I'm pretty sure she's speechless, as are probably those two.

But none of that matters.

What she needs most right now.

"So don't Lucy, who said you have to leave us?"

"Ahh!" her body starts trembling even more.

I'm not even thinking about what I'm doing anymore

"I'm sure your feeling as if you have no way out, but please believe me when I say this Lucy, I've told you this before countless times already"

As I tighten my grip on her, and let out what I'm truly feeling.

"Your not alone Lucy, you can always count on me"

"...Shawn, I" as Lucy hoarsely calls, though I wasn't finished.

"We'll get through this, as long as we're together... so please… don't cry anymore"

Our words from those who truly care for her.

"SHAWN!" As I felt her turn around and she started crying on my chest like never before.

As I pat her on the head all she can say is "thank you, thank you" over and over again.

From the sound of her voice it seems as if that was just what she needed to hear

All the while Happy and Natsu are still in the dark, but even they can tell that this isn't the right time to speak, and for that I'm grateful.

As I carry her in my arms she continues to bury her face in my clothes.

"Come on you guys, let's head back to Fairy Tail" as I start running to get as far away from here as possible before Jose recovers.

As for me?

I've said all I can, the rest is up to her.

A Few Hours Later

Fairy Tail Basement

After making it back to the Guild I could see how bad the damage was. There were dozens of people injured, including some who were even patching others.

Some had a broken leg, arms (including Nab), cuts, burns, and other such wounds.

There was also Macao, Wakaba, and others that were trying to plan our next move.

Natsu and Happy were sitting off in a corner along with Lucy.

After explaining to everyone the reason Phantom is attacking Fairy Tail was because of her, it definitely surprised them, but that didn't mean they were gonna hate her for it, especially after she was just kidnapped.

Though it seemed like she was doing better compared to canon while seemingly lost in her own thoughts.

I was sitting in a chair while drinking some water, I never really liked the taste of alcohol, which is why I preferred fruit drinks over booze, but since we're in this situation I'll settle with this for the time being.

"Now then, Phantom should be approaching Magnolia any minute now, as far as I know disabling the Jupiter cannon comes first, then taking out the Element Four so that they can't cast the Abyss Break spell, which renders their entire base useless"

But then there's also the issue of Jose himself, not even Erza could take him out and if it weren't for Master Makarov's intervention then things could have gotten much worse.

And it didn't seem like Ur was gonna make it back in time for this either.

Unless she regains her full power, which I highly doubt will happen anytime soon.

"Erza may be our best shot at defeating Jose, but if she takes a blast from Jupiter that will leave her in a weakened state, in that case…"

"Don't worry, we'll get them back for this"

"Hmm?" while thinking of different ways to deal with this shitstorm we're in Gray attempts to cheer Lucy up.

"I, know, I'm not worried about that" as she seems determined to fight.

Getting up from my seat "Don't go thinking this is all your fault Lucy" as I made my way towards her.

"Being targeted-"

"Elfman, another word out of your mouth and I'll personally make sure you can't call yourself a man anymore" as I say that he didn't say another after that with one look at me.

"Yup, definitely a second Erza" whispers Natsu to which Gray replies back with "Right? One was bad enough"

"I gotta say, I was shocked when I heard the news. Why'd you hide the truth from us Lucy?" asks Happy.

"I wasn't trying to hide anything. I mean, there's no way to bring up the fact that I'm a runaway in casual conversation. I've been gone for a year and my father hasn't cared. Now all of a sudden he wants to force me to come home?"

Gray looks in wonder "No joke, all this just to try and bring you back, seems more than a little excessive if you ask me"

"Regardless, he's done all these horrible things and I can't stand it, I hate his guts!" as Lucy vented things she's probably been keeping inside for a while.

"Still, if I hadn't run away in the first place none of this would have ever happened"

"Don't be-"

"Don't be ridiculous Lucy" as Elfman was about to speak up I cut him off again, it seemed to annoy him but still didn't say anything.

"If you hadn't left home, would you have met me, Natsu, Happy, Gray, Erza, and everyone else here in Fairy Tail?"

Lucy simply shook her head in response before I gave her a smile.

"Then stop thinking as if you brought trouble to the guild, this is all Phantom's fault. Besides, if you go back I really can't see you playing the part of the princess stuck in her mansion" as I borrowed some of Natsu's lines.

I looked around the place and continued "Like Mira once said, everyone here has lost someone or something in some form, but Fairy Tail is a place where we treat it's members like family. So promise me Lucy"

"Promise what?" as Lucy looked at me in a daze.

Placing my hand on top of her head, though it seemed embarrassed she didn't shy away from it "When this war with Phantom is over, go tell your father how you truly feel, then come back and we can go together on jobs like before, because… Fairy Tail is your home now"

Even now, her father still casts a considerable shadow in her heart, most likely since her mother died.

So if I want to stop her from wallowing in guilt, it's best that you give her a goal to work towards.

She would have done this herself after the fight with Phantom, but giving her a reason to fight is the best option for now.

The effect was immediate, once again the waterworks were unleashed once more, Gray didn't know what to say, Elfman commented how real men are weak to a woman's tears, and Loke stared at her for a moment before walking away once more.

"Guess he still hasn't made up his mind" as I looked out while consoling Lucy it seems like things won't be getting easier from here onward.

Ten Minutes Later

"Come on, I'm not getting any kind of read on where Mystogan is" as I approach the bar I see Cana flipping the cards and luckily nothing else with it.

She's been spending the last hour or so trying to pinpoint his whereabouts.

Though I can expect he's out crushing Phantom Lord's other branches by himself.

"He probably has something that's able to conceal his presence, he has been hiding his face for all these years in Earthland on top of being an S-Class Wizard"

"Oh dear, you did your best" while Mira consoles her and seems to be speaking to someone via a communication lacrima, though as for who it is should be obvious.

"If Lucy's their real target they're bound to attack, and I would bet it's sooner than later. Right now we've just got too many wounded to put up much of a fight"

"Master's seriously injured and we can't seem to locate Mystogan. You're the only one left we can turn to. Please, help us Laxus"

As Laxus's face appears it seems as if he's in a foul mood, but given that's his default setting I'm not surprised.

While Mira wholeheartedly pleaded for Laxus's help, he just laughed.

"I don't see how this is remotely my problem. You're big girls, so deal with it yourselves"

"So you're not gonna help us?" as Cana complains Laxus sneers in contempt "Of course not, why would I. That senile old toad started this. Why do I have to be the one to clean up his mess?"

"Please Laxus, Phantom's trying to kidnap Lucy" says Mira

"Who? Do I even know her?" before it looks like he remembers "Oh wait,is it that new girl?"

It's what he says next that pisses me off.

"I'll tell you what, if you can talk blondie into becoming my woman I'll do anything she wants"

"You are such a pig!" while Cana agrees on that one, and likely Mirajane as well.

"Are you sure you want to talk that way to a guy begging to help you?"

"Seriously, what an ass" as I clench my fist in anger.

"Do me a favor, if that geezer manages to pull through this tell him he's over the hill and he should hand the guild over to me" as he begins to laugh like a lunatic and before Mira breaks the Lacrima.

"Go fuck yourself Laxus!"

"..."

"..."

"What'd you say?"

As I enter the picture and say what probably everyone else didn't have the guts to do.

As he looks at me I can see his face already scrunching in anger.

"Seems like your ears short-circuited along with your brain, in that case let me repeat myself. Laxus, you can go fuck yourself"

My voice is exceptionally cold, and probably Mira and the others in the guild notice as the entire room went silent.

Natsu and Gray had their mouths open in shock, Lucy, Elfman and Nab eyes widen in disbelief. As well as everyone else shuts their mouths as they don't want to be caught in the crossfire.

"Who the hell are you supposed to be? Oh right. A nobody" as he starts grinning.

"At least this "nobody" is better than a waste of space like you. You're guildmates are asking for help and you won't lift a finger to help, of course Master Makarov will never hand the guild over to you"

Hitting his sore spots without remorse or pity, because he doesn't deserve any in my opinion.

"Shut the hell up you brat if you know what's good for you, I just simply don't need weak folks in my Fairy Tail" as Laxus starts to lose his cool.

"Go ahead and try, I'll be waiting for you right here. We don't need the help of someone like you, how do you even expect to become our Master if you can't even get along with the rest of us?"

Right now, Laxus is a complete asshole, maybe by knocking him down a peg or two is just what the doctor ordered.

I place my hand on the communication Lacrima "Laxus, we'll get through this without your help. You'd just be in the way, if you wanna prove me wrong then get your ass over here and we'll fight it out once the dust has settled. Otherwise, don't even bother coming back"

I can already see Laxus's face turning various shades of blue, purple, and finally red as numerous veins pop on his forehead.

"Why yo-"

CRACK!

BANG!

As the Lacrima was crushed under the force of my grip and all that was left of it was the shards scattered across the floor.

No way in hell was I going to let him talk about Fairy Tail like that, besides even if I do provoke him it's not like he's gonna make it back in time.

I'll deal with it after Phantom is taken care of.

"Shawn…"

As I turned around I could see Mira was crying, most likely because of Laxus.

"Sorry about the Lacrima Mira, I'll make sure to pay for it later. As for Laxus, I'd say forget about him for now, if someone that heartless comes by I think he'd do more damage than good right now"

While Cana clasped a hand on my shoulder "I don't know, none of us have seen anyone other than Natsu pick a fight with him" as she gave it a few pats before smiling "But damn, that look on his face was priceless"

Shortly after the peanut gallery started cheering for chewing out Laxus.

"Hell yeah, screw that guy"

"We'll be the ones to protect Fairy Tail"

"Laxus can go to hell for all I care"

Such were the things everyone in Fairy Tail had their spirits lifted

This was completely unexpected.

"Yup, I will never understand these guys" as even those who were injured seemed to have found new vigor.

But this is just how Fairy Tail should be.

Though that didn't last long

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

BOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

As the ground shook violently, dirt fell from the ceiling, and people were struggling to keep their balance.

"They're here!" knowing exactly what's happening, I immediately make way towards the stairs and head outside.

A Few Moments Later

Outside Fairy Tail

As I was first one out I could still feel the ground shaking, everyone who was inside came rushing in order to find the cause.

"What is that thing?" as Natsu asked the question that's on everyone's mind.

While gazing at the source of all this commotion, only one thing crossed through my mind.

"Compared to watching through a monitor and seeing it in person… are definitely worlds apart"

Even as the tremors continued me and everyone else who came outside were shocked in disbelief while looking at it.

Phantom Lord's Headquarters has Appeared!

Standing on six massive legs, it was definitely impressive, if it weren't targeting Fairy Tail right now I would probably want to pilot it just once.

But right now there are more pressing matters to attend to.

"How do we fight that thing?" as Wakaba and the others start panicking, Lucy comes next to me and grabs the hem of my shirt, as for why? Best guess would be for psychological support.

"I never anticipated this. I can't believe they'd go to such extremes to attack us" while Erza who's in nothing but a towel after rushing straight outta the shower is stunned at the lengths Phantom would go to.

"I'm probably the most level-headed person right now since I've seen it before, not that it helps much seeing it face to face" as I recall what abilities it has and how best to get us out of this mess.

As it finally stopped in the center in the lake, I could feel huge amounts of Magic Power being generated inside, that could only mean one thing.

And my fears were proven right as I saw one of the sides in Phantom Lord's buildings lower down, and from it emerged a large, rusty looking cannon extended several times before finally being locked in place.

The Jupiter Cannon

BZZZZ!

BZZZZZZZZZZZ!

BBZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ!

Massive amounts of magical power started gathering in the cannon forming a dark and ominous swirl as if space itself was being compressed together.

"Run! Get out of here now!" screams Erza as the cannon charges up even more. Not that we would have enough time to escape anyway.

"Erza!"

"Don't be Stupid!"

While Erza does the exact opposite and charges straight towards it.

"Tch! Godammit!" as I follow closely behind her.

"Shawn!" as Lucy calls out my name, though I don't have the time as a blood red magic circle appears behind me.

"Erza, your Adamantine armor!"

"Shawn? What are you doing you…"

"THERE'S NO FUCKING TIME, JUST TRUST ME!" As I shut her up and focus my magical power while my aura turns into an even darker shade of scarlet.

As her eyes widen for a moment, but as the cannon charges to envelope the tip of the barrel of the cannon itself she Requips into her Adamantine armor and stands in the front.

As she joins together the two bladed shields equipped on each arm an enormous aquamarine like magic circle deployed in front of her.

While I stood behind her and placed my hands on her shoulders.

"Armament Extension, Blood Guard!"

BOOM!

As I roared the aura surrounding me exploded for a moment, before compressing and covering not only me but Erza as well.

It even dyed her magic circle completely blood red as well.

"Shawn, this is…" while Erza was shocked I couldn't answer her as beads of sweat formed on my head.

As I saw the cannon was just fully charged.

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM!

It reached us in an instant.

Both me and Erza felt as if someone had placed a mountain on our backs.

"GHHH!"

"GAHHH!"

The pressure from it forced us back a few steps but we were still holding out.

Five seconds…

Ten seconds…

Twenty seconds...

Yet it seemed like it would never end.

"What the hell? it didn't take nearly as long in the anime?

CRACK!

CRACK!

Finally, after thirty seconds of enduring the blast the aura surrounding both me and Erza started to crack, and the magic seal that was blood red quickly reverted back to its natural color.

"FUCK THIS SHIT!" While swearing and exhausting my magical power I concentrated most of my magic onto Erza who thanks to me hadn't suffered any significant damage.

Though another ten seconds later

CRASH!

What sounded like glass breaking was actually the aura encasing both me and Erza finally giving out.

"AHHHH!" as I lost my hold on her and got sent flying back immediately by the shockwave.

"SHAWN!" as Erza called out to me but was still in the middle of blocking Jupiter there was nothing she could do.

BANG!

Before being embedded in the wall of Fairy Tail.

I think I even blacked out for a moment

"Shawn!"

"You okay man?"

"Someone get him out of there!"

As I heard the voices of Natsu, Gray, Lucy, and the others I could feel people pulling on my body that was pretty much merged with the wall at this point.

It took them a few seconds but they were eventually able to pull me out.

The first thing I said after trying to catch my breath was "I'm getting a real deja vu feeling right now"

Though it felt like I had done so recently too.

The good news is that other than the shockwave, flying straight into the wall, numerous cuts and bruises across my body and momentarily loss of consciousness, is that none of my bones are broken and internal organs didn't rupture.

The bad news is that over 3/4th of my magical power had been used up by activating Blood Guard to help Erza withstand Jupiter.

Blood Guard is actually compressing Armament to its utmost limits in order to protect the user from most attacks.

Though being designed as a purely defensive technique means that because my aura is highly compressed it also weighs me down considerably, granting me no offensive capabilities.

However, by using it in conjunction with Armament Extension I'm able to grant this ability to the person I'm touching and heavily reinforce their defenses just like I do with normal Armament.

The other thing that is that by using this spell is that it requires a huge amount of magical power to keep it active.

In exchange for completely giving up on Offense and putting everything into Defense, it allows for amazing durability and supportive capabilities.

However, I think this spell definitely has more potential to grow.

But this the limit for the time being.

"What about… Erza?" as sweat pores from every part of my body while catching my breath

I saw Erza taking on the last of the Jupiter Cannon's power, the Adamantine armor which was completely shattered in the original story thanks to my efforts only partially destroyed.

The top right part of her shield was gone, along with both gauntlets and one of her greaves just showing her bare foot.

Along with a crater nearly twenty feet wide that was evaporated because of the blast.

It seemed like she was breathing slightly heavily as well with sweat covering her entire face and neck. But compared to how it could have been I'd say we won that one.

In the original story it took Erza everything she had to block the Jupiter cannon and it left her severely weakened when she ended up fighting Jose.

That was exactly what I was aiming for.

I don't when or if Master Makarov will be able to recover in time, and I sure as hell know I can't take him on.

Therefore, for now Erza would be our best shot at defeating Jose, and tried to make her save as much magical power as we can.

Though what I didn't expect was for Jupiter's blast to last for so long, it made me use up way more magic that I anticipated.

Perhaps it's another Distortion caused by me, but at the very least Erza isn't down for the count this time around.

"Shawn, why did you help me? You could have gotten yourself killed you know?" as Erza came running and actually grabbed me by the collar of my shirt looking pretty pissed.

Lucy and the others of course tried to calm her down but one look from her was enough to deter them.

"Because I need you Erza" as I decided to tell her why

"!" while Erza's eyes were wide open in shock she let go of me and nearly I fell on my back.

Ignoring her reaction I spoke seriously "If you had taken that blast alone there's no telling if you'd make it out in one piece. With the Master ill, Laxus being an ass, and Mystogan nowhere to be found you're our only hope of facing Jose"

"...Dammit, the kid makes a pretty good point" says Macao

"I'd doubt anyone else would stand a chance against him, the kid makes a convincing argument" while Wakaba takes a smoke from his pipe.

"That doesn't mean you should risk your life Shawn, and if you had… what about the promise you made to me huh?" while Lucy started speaking loudly for a moment before lowering to barely a whisper, before she started screaming and violently shaking me back and forth.

"..." while Erza was as if she had been turned to stone and she hadn't said a word yet.

Unfortunately, time waits for no one…

"MAKAROV HAS FALLEN. WHILE ERZA STILL STANDING IS COMMENDABLE BOY. AT LESS THAN FULL POWER, ANY CHANCE OF VICTORY HAS STILL SLIPPED THROUGH YOUR FINGERS!"

As I hear Jose speak for the first time "God his voice is as annoying as back then" while recalling such bad memories he continues.

"SURRENDER LUCY HEARTFILIA IMMEDIATELY. YOU HAVE NO CHOICE" as he gives out his ultimatum.

"That's not gonna happen"

"Like any guild would hand one of their own to a monster like you"

"You hear that? Lucy's staying put"

Once Alzack, Bisca, and Macao declared their intentions, everyone else in the guild followed suit.

"I WON'T ASK AGAIN!"

As for Lucy herself, she finally stopped shaking me, before burying her face in my chest once more.

I could then start feeling her trembling and on the verge of tears once more "Maybe I should just go with them-"

While Erza used Requip and donned her Black Wing Armor "WE WOULD NEVER BETRAY HER LIKE THAT. YOU'D HAVE TO KILL US FIRST!" as she pointed her sword at Phantom, her eyes were dead serious, though I'm not sure everyone in the guild-

""YEAH!""

"Nevermind"

"You can stop asking now. Cause we're not gonna give you any other answer! WE'RE TAKING EVERY ONE OF YOU JERKS DOWN!" while Natsu screamed at the top of his lungs.

"Couldn't have said it better myself Natsu" as I slowly got to my feet while Lucy covered her mouth in an attempt to contain her cries, though she was already bawling her eyes out at everyone's love for her.

"Lucy, this is Fairy Tail. Everyone here is your family too, so share your life with them… and never let them go" as I walk up and stand next to Natsu and the others.

While things haven't been exactly according to plan, the overall plot remains the same. As I prepared for anything Jose might throw at us.

"IF DEATH IS WHAT YOU WANT I'LL GIVE YOU A SECOND HELPING OF JUPITER! YOU GOT TEN MINUTES TO PONDER THE FOLLY OF YOUR ACTIONS!"

I'm so happy that you guys are enjoying the series as much as I am and that you keep asking for more updates. As I writer nothing brings me more joy than to see people reading and wanting more, to know what happens next, what could change, what could stay the same.

Though I could still use a bit of work when it comes to fight scenes.

And were almost at a thousand followers for this story, and I have to be honest.

When I started this series I didn't think it grow like this and I'm happy that so many of you stuck around even after being on hiatus for several months.

I promise to do my best and deliver a new and exciting experience on a classic that so many people love and cherish.

You guys are the reason it makes writing Shawn's adventures with Natsu and the others so much fun, to see what you guys think on the reviews whether they be good or bad, and to try and push past that and make this the best Fairy Tail story on Fanfiction.

Pretty ambitious I know, but for an immediate goal I'll settle on finishing the Phantom Lord Arc.

Also, let me ask you guys what kind of original story arc do you want Shawn and the others to go?

I've already started writing something down but would love to hear your guy's opinions too. Just let me know in the reviews for your ideas to implemented as Shawn's story continues to unfold.
