Pain, pain and more pain!

The moment Regina heard the name Emma had given her baby, her heart almost stopped, she took a shuddery breath and tried to force a smile onto her face, she tried to be happy for her friend, to stop the emotion inside from welling up.

She stared at the child resting peacefully in her mother's arms, watching as Emma stroked her cheek gently and laughed at something one of her parents had said. Regina didn't hear though, she didn't hear anything past that name.

She swallowed heavily, her bottom lip quivering slightly as she took a step forward wanting to get a better look at the baby. "She's beautiful Emma," Regina whispered, not even registering what she was saying, as she reached out and gently touched the little girl's head.

She felt the tears well up in her eyes and shook her head, she couldn't stand here and watch them any longer, couldn't bear to even look at them. "Congratulations," she stated before turning to the door and running from the hospital room, hearing her name being called by everyone she left behind. Once she was outside she let out a shaky sob as she rested an arm against the stone of the building before using her magic to transport her back to her vault, into a room where it was safe to cry.

She fell onto the mattress in the secret room only she and Robin knew about and sobbed, burying her head against the pillow on his side. Why would Emma do something like that? Why would she give her baby that name after everything Regina had confessed to her?

That was supposed to be their child's name, hers and Robin's, that was what they were going to call their little girl and Emma knew that, she knew, yet she still gave that name to her daughter. Regina's tears flooded the pillow her face was buried in. She just missed him so much, hated the fact that they never got to have a life together, never got what Emma and Hook had.

Was she really so evil as to deserve this constant pain, the pain that consumed her night and day, a pain she was forced to conceal, to push deep down inside her so no one ever knew about it. She had to be strong, she couldn't show the absolute heartbreak she was suffering from, even now, years later, after so much had passed. That pain still consumed her, she couldn't let it go, couldn't forgive whoever had taken Robin and her happy future away from her.

She brought a shaky hand up to her face and wiped her face, as the tears began to slow. Her chest still ached, her heart constricting with the loss she'd had to endure. She had nothing, and no one, she was entirely alone. She didn't even have Henry anymore, he had his own family now and she was alone. Always alone, because that was her fate, to never have that happy ending. To be alone. Without any hope.
