Dear followers,
I apologize for this chapter taking a while to get posted. I've been pretty sick so I haven't felt like doing too much. Also we had to put my dog down the day before easter. I hope you enjoy the chapter.

Chapter 2
Jo woke up just as the plane landed in Seattle. "Sonny sweetheart. Wake up." She said gently shaking her. Sonny woke up and rubbed her eyes. She sat up and leaned against Jo. Jo held her close "I love you sweetheart." She said. Sonny didn't reply but smiled at her. The flight attendants started getting people off the plane. Jo grabbed her bag and took Sonny's hand. The flight attendant helped them off the plane and they walked into the airport. Sonny followed behind Jo and they got outside the airport. Jo called for a cab and they waited. Sonny leaned against Jo shivering. It was raining heavily and was a bit cold. Jo pulled one of her hoodies out of the bag and helped Sonny pull it over her head. The cab pulled up in front of them and they got in the back seat. "Please take us to the nearest hotel." The cab driver nodded and started driving. By the time they got to the hotel Sonny was asleep. Jo paid the cab driver and carried Sonny into the hotel. She got them a room and they headed upstairs in the elevator. They got into the room and Jo lay Sonny down on the bed. Sonny woke up and looked around. She sat up and whimpered in pain and held onto her ribs. Paul had kicked her pretty hard in the side. She then started coughing uncontrollably. She thought she was going to throw up but instead she started coughing up blood. Jo grabbed a blanket that was in the bag she had brought. She held it under Sonny's mouth as she coughed up a bit more blood. When she finished she tried to stand up. Jo stood up to help her right as Sonny passed out. Jo caught her before she hit the floor. She picked Sonny up in her arms and got down to the lobby as quickly as she could. The man who had helped her get a room saw her and came over. "Please help. I need to get to the hospital." Jo said out of breath from running. The man looked at Sonny and went to call for an ambulance. Jo sat with Sonny in her lap as she waited for the ambulance. Sonny came to and tried to sit up. She started to cough again and Jo held a paper towel near her mouth. She coughed up a bit more blood then leaned against Jo. The hospital must have been close because the ambulance arrived pretty quickly. Sonny was holding tight to Jo as the paramedics came over. She held onto Jo tighter when they sat down near them. "She was coughing up blood. Her ribs are broken." Jo said. The paramedic gave her a weird look. Jo looked away. She knew they thought she had hurt Sonny, and that they were staring at the bruise on her face. They loaded Sonny into the ambulance and Jo followed behind. She held Sonny's hand on the way to the hospital.
They pulled up to the hospital and the doors were opened from the outside. They helped lift the stretcher out and wheeled Sonny into the ER. Jo got pushed aside as the doctors began examining her. She watched as they began examining her. "Page Dr. Karev." She heard one of them say. A few minutes later another doctor came and started examining Sonny. Sonny immediately started freaking out. She had always been afraid of men because of Paul. Jo tried to get near her to calm her down. But they wouldn't let her near Sonny. "Sonny sweety it's ok. I'm right here. Just let them help you." Jo said hoping to soothe her. Sonny calmed down and reached for her. Jo did her best to stay out of the way. The doctors were working on Sonny when she started coughing up blood again and couldn't breathe. Dr. Karev was examining her ribs. He looked up "Her ribs are broken and one of them is puncturing her left lung. We have to get her to an OR now." he said. Jo stood up as they rushed her away to the OR. She managed to stop one of the doctors. "Please can you tell me if she is going to be ok?" She asked starting to cry. The doctor led her to a chair in the waiting room. "My name is Dr. Lexie grey. Dr. Karev is a great peds doctor. He'll take care of your daughter." She told her. "Please don't take my daughter from me. I know those bruises aren't normal for a child to have. I'm all she has. She needs me." Jo said sobbing. Lexie took her hand gently. "No one is going to take her. If you didn't love her you wouldn't have brought her here for help." Jo just nodded. She looked at Lexie then looked away. "Hey um how about we get that bruise looked at on your face." Lexie said. "Um no it's fine." Jo said pulling away. "Hey it's ok. I just want to help." Lexie said. Jo stood up and started to back away. She backed into a male doctor and he gently took hold of her arms to steady her so she didn't fall. Jo thought he was hurting her and started to panic. She started to fight against him. He let go of her and she fell to the floor sobbing. Lexie knelt down next down next to her. "Did someone hurt you? Did someone hurt your daughter?" She asked helping Jo off the floor. "M-my husband. I ran away from him. Please d-don't tell anyone. I don't want them to know." she pleaded looking at Lexie. "Come on let's go wait for your daughter." Lexie said taking her to a waiting room that was closer to the OR. She got Jo a cup of water and they waited together silently. Jo fell asleep as they waited. An hour later Alex came out and sat down next to Jo. Lexie gently nudged her and she jumped. "Hey it's ok. Dr. Karev is here. He want's to talk to you." Lexie said calmly. Jo nodded and looked at Alex. "Your daughter has two broken ribs. One of them had punctured her lung. We were able to fix her lung with surgery. She'll be ok. I can take you to see her." Alex said. "O-Ok." Jo said nervously. He took her to a room. Jo saw Sonny and teared up as she saw her on a ventilator. "S-She's not breathing on her own?" she asked looking at Alex. Her legs went weak and she quickly sat down in the nearest chair. "No we had to put her on a ventilator. We are going to watch her overnight. Dr. Grey and I will be here all night." He told her. Jo nodded and felt him looking at the bruise on her face. She looked away and looked at Sonny. Alex and Lexie went out of the room and were talking. Jo just sat there holding Sonny's hand. She dozed off with her head resting on the bed.
In the middle of the night Jo was awakened by Sonny coughing and fighting the tube that was down her throat helping her breathe. She pushed the call button and Alex came into the room quickly. "Hey kiddo. My names Dr. Karev. Your in the hospital and your safe." He said calmly as he pulled the tube out of her throat. Sonny took a deep breath as the tube came out. She looked over at Jo and reached for her. Jo took her hand again. "I'm here baby girl." She said leaning over and kissing her on the head. Sonny stayed silent. Alex tried to take Sonny's vitals but as soon as he touched her she started trying to push him away. She was freaking out. "I'm sorry. She's afraid of men." Jo said. Alex nodded and backed off. He wanted to ask why but instead he paged Lexie. She came and took Sonny's vitals. "Your doing good sweety. Can you tell me what happened to you?" She asked sitting down next to Sonny's bed. Sonny shook her head no and reached for Jo. She whined in pain because of her ribs. "Careful sweetheart." Jo said. "If you want you can lay next to her on the bed carefully." Lexie told Jo. Jo nodded and climbed into the bed carefully. Sonny immediately lay her head on Jo's shoulder. Lexie smiled. "Dr. Grey can I talk to you in the hall please?" Alex asked. Lexie nodded and followed him out of the room. "Did she tell you anything? Like where that bruise on her face is from? Also there is no way her daughter caused those injuries on her own." He said. Lexie sighed and leaned against the wall. "She asked me not to tell anyone. She's afraid." Alex leaned against the wall as well. "Lexie if someone hurt her we have to call the police. I know she didn't hurt her daughter. But we have to get them help. I won't ask what she told you. But I'm calling the police." He finished. Alex went to leave and Lexie moved in front of him. "Alex if you call them she might run. She'll take her daughter before she's better and we may not find them again." Lexie said. Alex sighed. He went back into the room and sat down next to the bed. "Jo did someone hurt you? If they did we can help you. We have to call the cops though." He said quietly. Jo immediately sat up. "N-no. I'm fine. We're fine. Please don't call the cops." She said getting nervous. Alex wasn't convinced but he didn't want to push her. "Ok. But if you need anything just let us know." He said standing up. Jo nodded and lay back down next to Sonny. He left the room and Jo stood up out of the bed again. She made sure neither of them were around and started pulling some clothes out of the bag they had brought. "Sonny sweety. Sit up for me please." Jo whispered to her. Sonny sat up half asleep as Jo took the hospital gown off and dressed her in normal clothes. She put Sonny's shoes on and tied them quickly then shoved the rest of their stuff into the bag. She unattached the leads for the heart monitor from Sonny's chest and picked her up. She slipped out of the room and walked calmly down the hall. She made it to the front door of the hospital and kept walking as fast as she could. She made it to a restaurant across from the hospital. She called for a cab and waited for it to arrive. She got in and told the driver to take them back to the hotel.
Back at the hospital Lexie came to check on Sonny. She expected to find Jo and Sonny asleep in the bed. Instead she found an empty room. She turned around and ran to find Alex. She found him talking to another doctor. "Dr. Karev I need to talk to you please. It's important." She said. "Um ok." he said excusing himself. Lexie took him to the room. "Crap!" he said when he saw that Jo and Sonny were gone. "Lexie can you cover my patients for me please? I need to go find them." He asked already heading out of the room. "Sure. Will you be back pretty quick?" She asked trying to keep up. "Yes. I'll be back as fast as I can." Alex said. He walked out the front door of the hospital and tried to think where they could've gone.
