Cennig flapped his wings as hard as he could, but it was just never good enough. He keeps hitting those stupid walls! If he could just reach a little higher, then he would at least get out of this stupid cove. He blasted the ground in before he jumped as high as he could and flapped with his long black wings. He moved his tailfin to fly higher, but like every one of his previous attempts, he fell harshly back to the ground. He had landed right in front of the little pound, a little fish jumped out and landed again with a little splash, making some water droplets land on his face. It was just begging to get eaten. He stood and saw to fish's swim close by and dipped his had in the water trying to capture the fish in his mount. But the moment his head hit the water, the fishes were long gone. He laid down frustrated out of his mind when he heard something drop on the other side of the cove. He looked up and saw the same little human hatchelling sitting high up on some stones watching him.

What was it doing here?

Was it here to finish the job it couldn`t finish in the woods?

The face on the human chance to something akin to curious and it cocked on its head, making Cennig do the same. What a curious human.

The human was back again the next day. Cennig could smell it. It smelled of fur, leather, fish, and human. But instead of the strong smell most humans have, this one had a more discreet sent. Wood, lather and it smelled of other humans too, but not much, so it was most likely an outsider in its nest. He silently jumped up on a boulder waiting.

It didn`t take long before the human was here. He saw the fish before the human. At the sight of the fish, his stomach rumbled. It had been a while since he had eaten. When the human came in sight, it held the fish close to its chest, walking slowly while looking nervously around. When the human was in front of him, he climbed down the boulder and stood in front of it, making sure to be ready to attack or run (most likely attack). He had never seen a fish looking or smelled that delicious before though, so he kept himself from attacking to see what the human wanted with him. When the human held out its hand with the fish, he was sure it was a trap, but then again, he could not smell any other humans, and that fish does look delicious. Slowly, very carefully he made his way towards the human, hungrily eying the fish. He opened his mouth to take the fish when he could smell a metallic smell. He arched back from the human.

"I knew it was a trap!" he shrieked and baked away angrily, ready to defend himself.

The human moved it fur showing his sharp human stick. Cennig lowered himself more to the ground, still growling lowly in the back of his throat. Then the human dropped the weapon to the ground, and after a little provoking from Cennig, the human balanced the stick on his foot and threw it into the pound.

"Maybe you humans aren't as stupid as I originally thought."

He sat up again, all anger for the human gone. All he wanted was that fish! The human must have understood that too because it held the fish out to Cennig again. Carefully he made his way back to the fish in the outstretched paw.

"Huh, toothless? I could have sworn you had…"

He let his fangs slid out and snatched the fish out of the human's paw.

"teeth..."'

When he had swallowed the delicious fish, he started to smell the human for more fish. The human immediately became nervous and backed away from him.

"Ah, no, no… I don't have any more!"

So, the human gave him his last fish? Even though he wanted more fish, he figured he should properly thank it for giving him its fish. He started to push the fish back up his stomach and let half of the fish fall in the human's lap. The human hatchelling was skinny too, maybe its dam didn't feed it enough?

They sat there for a little while in silence. Does the human not understand what he wanted? He looked down at the dead half fish before looking back at the human. It seemed his message came across because something changed again in the human's face and then slowly he took a bite of the dead fish. It didn`t seem to want to swallow, so he made a swallow motion to show it what to do. It seemed it had trouble swallowing, but after a while, it swallowed.

Maye humans did not eat fish, if so, then it was very kind of it to at least eat a little of his gift.

Then something strange happened, the human showed its fangs, but it did not seem like it was threatening him. Cennig tried doing the same, but he made sure to retract his fangs so that the little human hatchelling would not feel threatened by him. It must have misunderstood because the nest thing it did was trying to touch him. The nerve of hatchlings, they seem to stay the same no matter the race.

"Don't touch me, you puny little human!"

He let his fangs slid into place before he turned and flew unbalanced to the other side of the cove, away from the human. He warmed up a spot on the ground with his flame before he curled up in the reminding flames before they disappeared, and he had a warm cosy place to relax. Over him, he heard a bird sing before it flew away. Cennig turned to see it fly when he saw the little human sitting right next to him. It seemed almost like it said hi to him. He was not amused and used the one tailfin he had to cover his face so that he couldn't see the human hatchelling. He could hear it slowly creeping closer to him.

"I`m not stupid you know, I can hear you." He said as he lifted his tail to see the human sitting much closer and almost touching him. The human was already on its feet walking almost guilty or nervously away from him.

`It's strange how much it acts like a hatchling, it's maybe not as bad as a dragon hatchling, but it is not smart enough to listen to its superiors` He thought, still not amused by the human's antics and climbed up a tree letting his body fall so that he was upside down to sleep.

When he came to again, the sun was already on its way down. He was surprised to see the human sitting on a rock with its back to him.

"Do you not have anything better to do human?"

He grumbled as he got to the ground stretching. He walked up behind the human to see what it was doing.

In its hand, he had a stick that it made different lines in the dirt with. For a while, he just watches the stick move, making lines that kind of reminded him of something, but he just couldn't place his tail on it. It was surprisingly nice to just sit here with this human. For the past days two days, he has been stuck in the cove all alone, except when the human came of course.

Suddenly he got a brilliant idea. He walked to the nearest tree end ripped it out of the earth before he went back to the human and started to make lines just like it did. He just walked around making lines come after him, a line there, a dot here and a curve around here. In the end, he was quite satisfied with himself. The human stood and looked around, it too seemed amazed by his work, until it stepped on his drawing!

"Don't do that!" he murmured angrily at the human.

The human lifted its paw.

"There you go, don't step on other animal's dirt lines."

Then the human stepped on the same line again!

"Are you stupid or something?! I just told you to not do that!"

The human lifted its paw from the line again and the dragon calmed down again. And the human stepped on the line again!

"If you don't stop I am going to bite you human!"

Then the human stepped off and over the line.

`Good` The dragon thought. He didn't know if he should be angry on the human since it stepped so many times on his line, or proud that it understood what he meant in the end. He sat and watched as the human-made its wat through his lines without stepping on them. It almost seems like it was having fun!

Could humans have emotions? Or was this human different maybe? It was a lot smaller than any of the other humans he had seen, and it had shown more emotions than all the humans he had met combined. As the dragon watched the human almost dance through his lines, he suddenly begins to wonder, was this human a male or female? Maybe it had a name? Why did it keep coming back to the cove?

He could see the human coming closer and closer to him, but instead of moving, he decided to let the human come. As the human stood right in front of him, he breathed air at the human, making its fur on the head move around. It seemed the human was not aware of how close they were, because very slowly, it turned around and took some steps back in something Cennig could only describe as shook or surprise. But then slowly, it extended its paw like it wanted to touch him. He growled, making the human retrieve and properly save its own paw. But humans sure is stubborn, because the paw was extended again, but the humans head was turned away. Either he was extremely stupid, or very brave, but something in Cennig flipped.

Did the human trust him?

Slowly he inches closer to the human paw.

"I guess I should repay you for the trust you are showing me little human"

His snout touches its paw, and it feels kind of nice, surprisingly.

Humans are quite warm.

After he moves away from the warm paw and away from the human, he can still fell a little heat linger at his snout. It was a strange feeling. Dragons are very warm on the inside, but their tick skin or scales make sure it stays inside of them and not leeks out like it apparently does with humans.

He shakes his head to get rid of the strange feeling when he sees the human watch him (It too seems to be in some kind of shock) and he fly`s to his best ability to the other side of the cove, away from the human. The human stands there for a moment watching him before it walks away, out the little way he is too big to fit.

So, I know Toothless and Hiccup is about the same age from httyd 2, but humans grows much slower then most of the other animals around the world. Its like when you get a dog, or maybe a parrot, since they get closer to our age. You can get a puppy/ baby parrot and after about a year, they are young adults, but with human babies, they are still just a baby after a year.

In my head, it is the same with dragons. They must grow faster to survive in the wild, but because they are dragons, they can still live very long… Like a sea turtle.
