Prologue

Magic.

The power in which influences the course of events through mystical and supernatural forces.

And it's the bridge that connects different dimensions that coexists but not one knowing the existence of the other.

A strong yet at the same time, fragile, string that held their worlds and keep the balance of light and dark.

Different overseers protect the balance which included the observant Tsar Lunar; more known as Man in the Moon that was dubbed by his personal guardian. There were also creatures from different realms who shared the responsibility.

There's Pabbie the elder troll who lived with his clan, Will-o'-the-Wisps that took appearances of spherical lights and a new spirit that had recently arrived. He came from one of the similar dimensions as the other three and he retained his form as he was a mortal.

He was a big man with wild hair and wore a large fur coat over a chain mail. At first, he was confused which was understandable and kept wondering if the Void was a place called 'Valhalla' before he realized the whole picture and vowed to protect the balance for his family that he left in an untimely manner.

But it only took one slip. One calculated move that tipped the scales and the Tsar already knew who the culprit was when one of the wisps showed the dimensional mirror to him of a scene from their home.

...Merida...

"Argh! What are these things?!"

The heir of the DunBroch clan gritted her teeth as she tried to outrun several black stallions that started to chase her. But unlike Angus' shiny black mane, these horses looked as if they were made from smoke and their eyes... it was like staring into fire and she could feel the rage behind them.

Knowing that the monstrosities won't stop, Merida twisted her upper body and fetched the bow from her satchel, suddenly dipping her body down when she realized that she was about to hit a low branch.

Without hesitation, she nocked an arrow to the string of her beloved bow and aimed it center of the skull and let it fly. It hit the mark... or at least, it should have. But instead of stopping the beast from the tracks, it just phased through it.

*"Duilich!" she breathed out.

... Hiccup...

"Hiccup, I don't think dragon flames are helping!" Snotlout shouted as he glided with Hookfang alongside Hiccup and Toothless.

The young chief bit his lower lip and tried almost all his moves with Toothless but these things were nothing like they have ever seen before. It was a flock of giant birds but when the dragons tried to shoot flames and tackle them but when they did, they just went through them.

"Are they ghosts?!" Ruffnut screeched along with her brother when their Hideous Zippleback, Barf and Belch, went through one of those birds and it just reshaped itself back and one of its talons slashing the two-headed dragon by the hind leg.

"We need a plan!" Astrid exclaimed as Stormfly glided just above Hiccup, her blonde hair in disarray from trying to shake the birds off of her tail.

Hiccup was about to ask them if they have any ideas since he's got nothing before a strong beam of light shot from the heavens and struck the bird that was closest to them.

Brown eyes widened as the five birds disintegrated under the beam's harsh light; their bodies disappearing into ash. Hiccup quickly looked up to see where on earth it came from but all he could spot was the shining sun and a visible moon that was faintly covered by a thin veil of clouds.

"What in Odin's name is happening?" Hiccup muttered as Toothless touched down. He looked at the Nightfury who returned his confused expression with his huge green eyes.

The Man in the Moon grasped his staff and gravely nodded at the new spirit who had watched the last scene with worry.

The war has begun.
