Present Day,
New York...
Emma groaned as the alarm clock buzzed beside her. God, she hated that sound! Every single bloody morning! Her hand reached up to snooze the alarm, before she turned and pulled up the blanket over her head
"Emma."
"One more minute," she said, burying her face in the pillow. She felt a hand carefully shaking her. Groaning, she turned and looked up to see the love of her life smiling down at her.
"Love, if you don't wake up then you won't be able to eat and if you don't eat at time, you will be cranky."
Emma smiled as Killian Jones, her husband, gave her a quick peck and asked her to wake up. With a quick kiss, Emma found herself sitting up. Life was good.
Five years ago,
Near Storybrooke Town line...
"Emma."
Emma Swan turned as Regina called for her. She could feel Pan's curse fast approaching. She just wanted to take Henry to safety, but saying goodbye to so many people was harder than she thought it would be. She had just found a family, her parents. She did not want to lose it. Not again.
"There's something I haven't told you yet."
Emma sighed. "What now?" She really did not have the heart to take another bad news.
"When the curse hits," Regina explained, "it will send us all back. Nothing will be left behind. Including your memories."
Emma's eyes widened as Regina continued, "That's what a curse does. Storybrooke will no longer exist. It won't, ever, have existed. We will go back to just being stories."
Emma's mind was swirling. "What will happen to us?"
Regina shrugged lightly. "I don't know."
Emma shook her head, "Doesn't sound like a happy ending."
Regina gave a humourless chuckle. "It isn't. But I can give you one."
Emma looked hopefully at Regina. "You can preserve our memories?"
Regina shook her head in despair, "Even I am not that powerful. I can do what I did to this town. Give your new memories."
"Regina," Emma sighed, "the people here were miserable due to the fake memories."
"They didn't have to be," Regina said with a smile. She turned and extended her hand. Henry immediately walked up to her, confused.
"My gift to you will be new memories. A world where you never gave up Henry."
Emma found herself smiling a bit, "Would you do that?"
Regina smiled, "When I stop Pan's curse and you cross that town line, you will have the life you always wanted."
She cupped Henry's face as he hugged Regina. Emma mouthed a small thank you, before looking at everyone else. Her parents, Snow White and Prince Charming. The Dwarves. Granny. Archie. Belle.
Neal.
Hook.
"Mom," Henry sniffed, looking up at Regina, "You said everyone who came through the curse would go back, right?"
Regina nodded, slowly caressing Henry. "Does that mean anyone who was not brought by the curse can come with us?"
"Henry?"
Henry looked at Emma. "We can have Dad with us, can't we?"
"Hey, buddy," Neal walked up to Henry and kneeled down. "Listen to me. Like you want your father to be here, I want my father back."
Henry frowned at his father' comment, "But...Mr Gold is dead."
Neal smiled, wiping away a stray tear from Henry's face. "We never saw his dagger. And the Dark One is hard to kill."
He held Henry's hand, smiling. "I'll tell you what. I will get back my papa, and I will come back to you. What do you say?"
"But I won't remember you." Henry sniffed, looking at Neal.
Neal ruffled Henry's hair and hugged him tightly. "But I will."
As the curse fast approached, Neal let go of Henry and turned to Emma and Regina. "If that is true, then I want to do something."
Emma raised an eyebrow as Neal gestured Hook to come forward. "Take Hook with you."
"What?"
Regina, Emma, Henry and hook all said at once. Neal smiled, looking down and then up. "I am not stupid Emma. I have seen how much the two of you care for each other."
Neal turned his attention to Hook. "All those years ago, you said that you cared about me. That you were willing to give up the life you had for me. Would you do that for my son?"
"In a heartbeat." Hook answered honestly.
Neal turned to Henry. "What do you say, Buddy?"
Henry looked at his mothers and then at Hook. "You did save me. I am ready if you are."
Hook looked at Emma and as the two smiled, Regina knew the answer.
"Very well," she said with a smile, "Go on and tell your parents Emma and I will take care of the rest."
Emma wasn't sure how to feel about it all. She went to hug her parents one last time, happy and sad, all at once.
"What was all that about?" Snow asked, looking at her daughter.
"Hook's coming with us," Emma said at once, looking at the surprised faces of the two. "Will you two be okay with it?"
David looked like he was ready to kill Hook, but Hook just sent a sincere smile in his direction.
"Well," David sighed, "He did save our lives. Are you sure about this Emma?"
Emma gave a chuckle. "I don't know. Maybe. Maybe not. But whatever it is, I will manage it."
David nodded, before cradling Emma once more As Snow hugged the two of them. Emma turned, giving one last smile to everyone before going to Neal.
"You sure about this?"
Neal chuckled. "He will keep you happy."
Emma shook her head. "I don't need someone like that."
Neal smiled. "I know. But you definitely want it."
Emma pulled Neal into a hug, before walking up to Henry and Hook.
"Ready?"
Henry and Hook shared an understanding glance.
"Yeah." They both muttered before looking at the town they were leaving behind. Sending one last look, the three got in the bug.
As Pan's curse approached the town line, Emma started the car and drove away.
Present day,
New York...
Emma prepared the breakfast as Henry watered the plants. Killian dusted the shelves, but not before sending a quick smile to both of them.
Once Breakfast was on the table, Killian called Henry and the family of three was on the table.
"You don't have school today, do you, lad?"
Henry shook his head, drinking his cocoa. Killian turned to Emma and smirked. "I have a free day as well and I doubt your mother has a person to catch in...this condition."
Henry smirked as Emma rolled her eyes. "I am pregnant, Killian, not injured."
Henry shook his head. "There is not much difference Mom. Dad cares for you the same way."
Killian smiled at that. Henry had given him the title of Dad two years ago when he had gotten married to Emma. It still felt so unreal.
"Aye," Killian said, slipping an arm around Emma, "And I would continue to do so. I do not wish for any harm to come to our duckling."
Emma groaned as Henry and Killian shared a grin. "Would you stop calling our child a duckling?"
"Would you prefer pirate?"
As Henry and Killian doubled up in laughter, Emma turned to Killian with a grin.
"Stop it, sailor. Why were you asking about Today's plans?"
Killian cleared his throat. "I was thinking we could have a lazy day in the house. Just the three of us, watching TV, playing video games and enjoying pizza."
Emma rolled her eyes. The love her two boys in her life had for Pizza was definitely a bonding point.
But she liked the idea. So with a grin, she kissed Killian, ignoring the groan from Henry and said, "I would like that."
"Can we watch Star Wars?" Henry asked eagerly.
Killian turned with a grin. "Of course lad. But only if you talk about - what was the girl's name? Ah, Violet."
As Henry's cheek began to redden at the name of his crush, Emma couldn't help but feel how lucky she was. She had a nice job, a caring Sailor husband, a teenage wise son. her life was perfect.
A few days later,
Enchanted Forest...
"Is this wise?"
Snow and Regina shared a glance before turning to Blue.
"We fought for five years," Snow said, almost teary-eyed, "Working tirelessly against the Wicked Witch. We are only taking this step now because we have no choice."
"I know you don't like me Blue," Regina said, "and neither my idea, but this is a necessary evil."
"There must be another way," Blue said, coming up to Snow. "You can't give in to darkness."
"I gave in to darkness a long time ago, Blue." Snow smiled sadly, Don't worry, it will be fine."
With that, the two women started working on the Dark Curse.
