Pairing: Daryl/Harry

Summary: Wishing to forget the tragedies in England Harry moved to America. Years later his family is surviving a Zombie Apocalypse.

Prologue

Three months ago the world ended. At least that's what the muggles thought. Harry knew better, it's not like this is the first time Zombies have happened. Harry knew from history that muggles never change they will, in fact adhere to their steadfast plans no matter what.

To think he moved to America because it was safe.

Twelve years ago Harry moved to America with his kids Teddy and Delphi. After the war the people were angry, the Ministry took advantage of that. They passed so many laws that took even more rights from the magical creatures in Britain. Harry found out after the fact when he learned that Andramada gave Teddy away. He wasn't stolen or taken she gave him up willingly. Harry was understandably upset with that.

A few months earlier Harry had learned of Delphini, Voldemorts daughter. He had spent every day since looking for her.

Before Sirius died he gave Harry some family journals along with the Potter and Black Grimoires. Harry had honestly never given thought to who his grandparents were he barely knew anything about his parents so grandparents hadn't even factored into his plans. So imagine his surprise when Sirius told him they were cousins his grandmother was Sirius great aunt.

It was thanks to the Potter Grimoire that Harry learned of Delphi. It had an updating family tree in it. When Harry first looked at it he saw Voldemorts name connecting to his line after ignoring it for two years he checked just to make sure the man was really dead and didn't have another Horcrux waiting in the wings. That was how he found out about Delphini.

Harry spent months using a spell to find her when he did he took her back. She may be Voldemorts daughter but she was just a baby of his bloodline. According to magic, Delphi was his granddaughter, he told people she was his daughter. If anyone learned who Delphi's real father was he doubted they would have let her live. Those people would gladly kill a child for the sins of the father.

The Weasleys turned on him when he claimed Delphi as his own. Like they had the right. He was not dating Ginny at the time and even though it was obvious he lied no one cared or noticed. Not even Hermione pointed out the inconsistencies in his story all they cared about was that he cheated on Ginny which never happened. Being a father changed him made him grow up and stop doing things because it was expected of him. Looking back at that time he wished he had left sooner. He refused to give Delphi up and grew disgusted with Molly for even saying such a thing. He broke up with Ginny it wasn't his fault she couldn't move on. He refused to be with someone who would dare make him choose. He would choose his family every time.

Keeping up with his muggle education was hard he was largely teaching himself. The invisibility cloak came in handy when he used it to sneak into the summer classes. Harry used it to make his life better during the summer stealing things like food and money going to classes, the library. It's how he managed to get an internship at Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital under the one and only Gregory House in New Jersey at the age of 19. He took his A-levels at 15 with Voldemort back he needed an escape plan. He may have stolen a time turner so he could attend University while at Hogwarts.

Hogwarts didn't teach much that could help you in real life.

Harry chose Pediatrics with a minor in general practitioner he loved children and wanted a lot of them himself.

Greg died a couple years ago he couldn't live in a world without Wilson. Harry was the only one who knew, he organized their funerals once he got the call. A great man died that day, not just a mentor but a friend as well.

Wilson was his best friend and Head of the Oncology Department at Princeton-Plainsboro. Those two were the modern day Sherlock Holmes and Watson of their time.

In February of 2002, Harry moved to Augusta, Georgia. He was headhunted by the Children's Hospital of Georgia. Gregory House was a complete and total douche no one disputes that, but the man was the best at what he did. Learning under him opened doors for Harry that may not have opened otherwise. Working at the hospital was great, Harry loved his job. He liked knowing he was helping families to stay together.

His kids are everything to him even after he met Daryl and married him his kids will always matter more.

Georgia is where he met Daryl. Harry bought a cabin up in Cabot Ridge the natural energies would be better for the kids magic. He learned from the Grimoire that children need nature to remain healthy and magically strong. So Harry bought a hunting cabin up north. That is where he met Daryl, he was staying with his uncle Jess Collins at the time.

Harry learned a lot, unlike Hermione who took everything at face value Harry focused on the culture he knew better than to assume he knew anything about this world when he only just entered it. He learned how to show his thanks to magic, how to find what or who his family prayed to. The Potters prayed to Death while the Blacks prayed to Loki the trickster god. That explained so much really. The Blacks are known for Metamorphmagus/Shapeshifters if they prayed to the god known for shapeshifting it makes sense that the gift would run in the family.

Harry survived the killing curse but he was never told if his dad was killed by it. His mom was not a Potter she didn't count.

The family Grimoire taught him what he needed to know about the Potters. The Potters are Runemasters and must complete a test to be acknowledged by the house of Potter. Harry had never taken Runes in school and regretted allowing Ron to sway his future like that. He studied his arse off to pass that test. He had to do it all on his own no Potter was known for the things they did the family lived in the shadows. His dad used misdirection by having as big of a personality as he could get. In comparison, Harry hid behind his friends all that did was help people lie about him. Skeeter got away with writing what she wanted because there was nothing stopping her from doing it. Hermione called them backwards but she didn't understand that Britain was more progressive than any other magical country. The Americans hid among the muggles in plain sight but didn't allow their people to intermarry and looked down upon half-bloods. Harry came to America the muggle way and stayed below the radar of MACUSA, The Magical Congress of the United States of America. If anything the Americans were still stuck in the thirties only instead of black and white it was wizards against muggles.

Through the years he and Daryl became good friends and then more. His brother could be a right git but the man was family and took good care of the kids. Harry refused to meet the father Will Dixon not with what he knew about the man.

When he became pregnant he completely freaked out he never once thought that was a thing. Daryl was a Squib, Harry didn't know that till he got pregnant and searched for an answer in the family journals. It's how he learned that two magical males can have a baby. If Daryl was a muggle it never would have happened. Daryl stayed with him Harry honestly thought he would leave instead he proposed. Marrying because of a baby is not his thing so he said no. Merles cracks about being a transvestite he could have done without.

There is a potion you can take that will say how much magic you have. Harry used it on Daryl and Merle the both of them proved to be Squibs. Potions only work on those with magic otherwise the potion will kill a person. Except for this potion, it only measured how much magic you have all the ingredients are edible and non-toxic and will not harm muggles. Harry would never have used it if he thought it could harm them.

They both took it rather well when he told them the truth. Three kids later and Harry was surviving a zombie apocalypse with his family and other survivors.

Dale Horvath with the sisters Amy and Andrea, the boy Glenn Rhee, and a few other families found their way to safety when the military started bombing Atlanta.

Harry only cared for his family, zombies can't last for more than 10 years before they decompose enough to not be a danger and then you have to purify the earth and water so you don't get sick.

A few years ago Harry bought an RV he warded, spelled and enchanted that thing to survive a Nuclear Blast. When all this first started Harry must have cleaned out over 50 grocery stores. The Potters and Blacks owned property all over the world the only problem was Harry couldn't access it. All the portkeys are useless and Harry had no idea where each house was. He lived in the Potter house in Augusta and the Black house in Princeton but he had no clue where the others could be. Being blood Harry could follow the pull when he gets close to one but till then he and his family will be protected by the RV. At least no one could get inside not with the blood wards active.

It's only been a few months and the world went to shit. The last time things got this bad was during the 60's. Harry read the books on the zombie wars back in school, during the 60's an outbreak happened to hit all over the world in a matter of years. This, on the other hand, happened within months. People got sick first and then started biting others which just spread it around even faster. When this is all done another mass memory wipe will be in order.

It's going to be winter soon no way they would survive out there on their own. There's strength in numbers. They will move on come spring but during winter Harry planned to stay put. The zombies will freeze and be easier to deal with.

He just hopes they can survive the next ten years.
