I don't own Harry Potter
Elk
Panic filtered through his veins as he fell, he was going to die. He could see the light in front of him and it was nearing. His heart began to beat quicker, almost as though it was going to beat straight out of his chest. He clenched his eyes shut as he approached the light, images of his parents flashed through his mind, his friends and the Dark Lord. He covered his eyes with his arms as the light swallowed him whole, he braced himself for sudden death but cried out when he stopped. He opened his and blinked. He was about 2 foot from the floor, before he had time to register the floor he dropped the last two foot with a thud. His face hit the ground and he laid there regaining what little breath he had all the while wondering why the ground felt like grass.
"Malfoy!" at the sound of his name he rolled on to his back, he squinted up towards the sky. The sun blaring down on him and the hole he had just fallen through nowhere in sight. He glanced towards the sound of the voice and stared at the shadowy figure, shielding his eyes from the sun he slowly began to recognise the figure.
"Granger, what the hell happened. Where are we?" he asked pushing himself to his feet. His legs wobbled under him but he remained standing. He glanced to Hermione who looked exactly the same a few seconds ago.
"I was hoping you'd know the answer." She said sadly.
He turned away from her and looked around. They were in a meadow, green grass to the East, the North and the South and as far as the eye could see but to the west there was a forest. Trees taller than he'd ever seen. As he looked around he was certain of one thing he had no idea where he was.
"How… what…" Draco looked at Hermione who shrugged.
"I know, one second we are in the room of requirements and the next we are being dragged down a hole to land in a meadow literally in the middle of nowhere. How is anyone going to find us?"
Draco said nothing as he looked over Hermione's head to forest, before looking back at Hermione. "Do you think that's the forbidden forest and somehow we've been teleported here?" Hermione turned around to face the forest. She tilted her head and frowned. Draco's assumption could be correct but the forest looked far too normal. She'd entered the forbidden forest many times, trees moved and it was incredibly easy to get lost but from here the forest just didn't look the same.
"I'm not sure, it could be but it looks too safe? If I can use that word for a forest. My gut is telling me where nowhere near Hogwarts."
"What do we do?" Draco asked looking down at Hermione, she bit her lip for a second before turning to face him.
"Your wand, I can do the point me charm to point us to Hogwarts!"
"My wand?" he said biting the inside of his lip as Hermione nodded. "I may have dropped it as I was being dragged here."
"You dropped your wand!" cried Hermione, "You are a wizard for Merlin's sake how could you just drop your wand!"
"I know, I know. Why did you come into the Room of Requirements?" Draco suddenly asked.
"What has that got to do with anything?" she snapped still angry at his stupidity.
"Because the room gives us what we want, we are in the middle of nowhere what was on your mind when you entered the room?" Hermione froze as Draco's hit home. She had asked for a place to get away…
"Oh god…" she muttered taking a few steps back as she started to panic. "No no no…"
"What did you ask Granger!"
"I asked for a place to get away…" she whispered as she dropped to the floor. Dropping her head in to her hands she closed her eyes, this wasn't what she had meant. She just wanted a few hours away from Harry and Ron and his stupid girlfriend. She wanted peace and quiet and a place where she wouldn't be found. She felt movement beside her and she dared a glance up at Draco. He was pissed.
"So now that we've figured out that you're to blame how do we solve this!"
"I don't know," she said through gritted teeth. She wanted a place to get away so why did the room drag Draco Bloody Malfoy with her! "I asked for a place to get away I didn't mean the room literally had to remove me from Hogwarts completely! And why they hell it brought you here! I wanted peace and quiet and a stress free night and now I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere with you!"
"Oh and you think this is what I wanted? I was busy and you walked in and ruined everything! Now I'm stuck here with no idea how to get back because I don't even know where here is!"
Hermione groaned and dropped back to the ground. "I'm sorry I ruined your top secret Deatheater plan that was probably going to kill us all," she muttered sarcastically as she looked at the sky. The sun was in the centre of the sky meaning it was mid-day which was odd as she had arrived at the room of requirements close to midnight, somehow she had either gained or lost around 12 hours.
She could hear Malfoy speaking but paid him no mind. She didn't care what he had to say, he was a Deatheater and the second she got out of here she was going straight to Dumbledore and reporting it.
"That's if you ever get out of here," she heard him say and she froze, this time it was different she hadn't heard him speak out aloud but his voice came from inside her head. She turned to face him and he glared down at her.
"You know Occlumency," she said, "you shouldn't invade someone's mind without their permission!" she snapped pushing herself off the ground to her feet.
"Maybe not but how else would I have known you were going to run off to Dumblebore and tell him what you saw."
"Dumbledore," she corrected automatically, "I just never believed Harry when he said you'd taken the mark…"
"Potter knows?" he said quietly.
"That's all I've heard since we ran into you in Diagon Alley before school started. Maybe I should start trusting his intuition about these things in the future… Malfoy?" He had gone deathly pale, if he became any paler Hermione was certain she'd be able to see right through him, obviously his transition over the summer was secretive and she wondered if anyone else was aware of his new calling.
"How do we get out of here." He asked changing the subject and Hermione shrugged.
"I wish I knew Malfoy but am in the dark like you. As a child I was always told if I was ever lost then to stay where I was and someone would come and look for me, but I don't think that will work this time." Draco shook his head.
"I guess we just have to find our way out," Hermione bit her lip, though she knew she couldn't just sit here and wait to be found she also know they were at a major disadvantage, they had absolutely no knowledge of where they were, how they got here and how to get back. They also had no wands and no tools to help them, all they had were the clothes on their backs and each other, and as she looked at Draco the entire situation terrified her.
"How, we don't have a map or a compass. We aren't even sure if the forest is to the west or if it's really the East. The sun is in the middle of the sky so until that moves we won't know our directions."
"So you what? Want to sit here for the next few hours just to see which way the sun is going to go? It's not going to matter because we don't even have a destination. We pick a direction and we just walk and see where we get to."
"I suppose but you want to go through the forest don't you?" Draco nodded, "But I think we should stick to the meadows,"
"You need to start using that brain you're so famous for! Think of survival… food, water and shelter are the first rules. Do you see any of that in the meadows?
"I suppose not but why drop us in the meadows in the first place, if the forest was the way to go then we would have fallen there!"
Draco sighed, "I see your reasoning but all logic points to the forest, if you want to skip through the meadows than fine go ahead but I'm going to go towards the forest and see if I can find myself a way out."
"We need to stick together, that's also another important rule in survival. Why don't we walk down to where the forest is but walk alongside it, that way we have both options to us. You talk about survival but we've no idea what's lurking in the trees and we are currently defenceless." Draco nodded his head, he couldn't argue with her logic, they needed food but how could they hunt or even gather when they had no tools to do so and the idea of being food also didn't appeal to him.
"Fine we walk towards the woods and then walk along the meadow at the tree side. But which way. Left or right?"
"Right," Hermione said instantly.
"Why right?"
Hermione shrugged, "right because it's the right way and the idea to walk towards the horizon then away from it makes more sense, almost like it's telling us to go in that direction."
"Fine," he said and started in the direction towards the forest not waiting for Hermione to follow. The quicker he got out of this place the better. Time was already against him, the Dark Lord wasn't pleased with his progress with the Vanishing Cabinet, his family were relying on him to keep them safe, he couldn't afford to lose a second of time in this place.
Behind him Hermione walked at a slower pace, she was in no hurry to stand beside the brooding blonde, and now the shock of what had happened was fading she decided to enjoy the peace and quiet that she had so desperately required. The room sent her here so she may as well take advantage of the tranquillity while she could. She had learnt a lot in the last hour. First the Room of Requirement was far more dangerous than she had ever anticipated, the room had the power to contort and transport at a simple request, the second she had learnt Draco Malfoy was a Deatheater and was working on a secret task for Voldemort in school and third, he was a mess. She had noticed over the last few months his change in behaviour, at the beginning of the year he was the same pompous arrogant prat he had always been but as the school year progressed the changes in him were increasing. He had quit Quidditch, his grades were dropping and was his weight. His skin seemed paler than normal and the bags under his eyes were becoming more prominent. He was skittish and secretive, Harry had been watching him on the map for weeks and had quickly noticed he would disappear. She now knew why but what was troubling her was why he was acting like this was the last thing he wanted. While she was here she'd be keeping a closer eye on the blonde.
Draco paused as he reached the end of the meadow, from where they landed he had thought the two were connected and the meadow lead straight into the forest but between the two were a dirt road. He stepped on the path and looked both ways. He turned to Hermione with a frown.
"That's odd," she said as she stood next to him. She knelt down and her fingers touched the floor before looking around. "I can't say I was expecting a road."
"It means we've gone the right way." He said and Hermione agreed.
"If there's a road then someone had to have put it here, therefore there's civilisation at both ends of the road so I say we don't venture of the path until we find someone." Hermione suggested and Draco nodded.
In silence the two headed right. The path had once been flat but now hills were forming but it was still far easier to travel on the road then the meadow. As they walked they peered through the trees, so far none had moved and it remained silent. The silence was beginning to bother Hermione, she had wanted peace and quiet but this place was becoming overbearingly quiet. She looked at Draco who was staring directly in front of them and she sighed, why did she have to be stuck here with him? Of all the people it just had to be Draco Malfoy… they had nothing in common and they really didn't like each other but she wasn't sure if she could stay silent for much longer.
"What's that?" Draco suddenly exclaimed. Hermione whipped her head in the direction he was staring at and paused, there was something, someone stood on the top of the hill they were heading up.
"Excuse me!" Hermione shouted and Draco grabbed her arm.
"You crazy?" he hissed.
"He may be able to help, I'm not losing this chance!" she removed his hand from her arm and jogged closer. Draco cursed under his breath but followed behind her.
As they approached the man on the hill had shrunk, where they had once thought he was of a normal height it was only as they approached did they find out he was only a few feet tall, he had a mop of scruffy jet black hair on his head, his ears round and large were almost too big for the size of his head. He had brown eyes and a youthful expression to his face. He resembled human just miniature.
"Hello, I hope you can help us… it's going to sound crazy but we arrived from the sky, fell through a hole and landed here in the meadow about half an hours walk from here. We don't know how we got here or where here is." Hermione explained but the man just blinked before looking between the two of them before beaming.
"The long told prophecy is true,"
"What…" said Draco with a frown.
"The prophecy of two travellers arriving from the sky to help bring peace to Omani!" he squeaked clapping his hands excitedly. "Oh Jontus is going to be just so happy."
"I'm sorry but what…" Draco repeated, "Prophecy, Omani, Jontus and who are you?"
"Oh I beg your pardon mighty blonde. Elk in my name and Elk is a Walderin, and you have arrived from the sky like the prophecy the great Walderin's of a thousand years prophesied, you are here to bring peace to Omani and cure the land of the curse that plagues it."
"I'm still not following," said Draco before looking to Hermione, "You understand any of this?" Hermione shook her head.
"Elk was it?" The little man nodded, "I'm Hermione and this here is Draco, and I'm afraid I have no idea what's going on here. We were in room when a huge blue hold appeared in the floor and dragged us here. Now we know nothing of this supposed prophecy or where Omani is."
"Ah Elk see's the problem. Omani is the land we stand on now, and homes many creatures, Walderin's included. And the prophecy tells of two travellers, one male and one female who would travel from an outside world and would cure Omani of its curse. Jontus will be so pleased that Elk found the prophesied travellers!"
"Elk, who is Jontus?" asked Hermione.
"Jontus is a Walderin elder, he has lived on Omani for over two hundred years and he knows everything." Said Elk excitedly.
Hermione looked to Draco before looking back to Elk, "I don't suppose you could introduce us to Jontus could you?"
"Yes, yes Elk could introduce you to Jontus!" he said excitedly and Hermione smiled. "Follow Elk!" he said and he puffed out his chest and raised his head. Hermione turned to Draco who was still looking at the creature in confusion.
"Come on Malfoy, I'm hoping this Jontus will be able to explain in a little more detail than this guy."
"He reminds me of a houself in a little human body but he's kept the ears," he said just staring at Elk. Hermione paused, Elk really did remind her of Dobby even down to his persistent of speaking in third person.
"We'll follow you Elk," said Hermione hoping that this Jontus would have the answers on how to get home.
Welcome to Omani! I've read so many stories where they time travel and I've even done my own time travel story before so this time I wanted to do something a little different and instead of time they've travelled to completely different land. More will be explained very soon. Thanks to those who have reviewed and I hope you all enjoyed this chapter!
