MC ran as fast as he could, as far as he could. He wasn't exactly a sporty guy, so he ran out of breath very quickly, but he knew he couldn't stop for long. Not while they were after him. Those girls, if he could even call them girls, were no doubt following him closely to get him back. To MC, they seemed more like monsters at this point.
"I don't know what they want, or what they'll do if they catch me, but whatever it is they're planning I really don't want to find out." MC was paranoid that they would be around every corner, and several times, he thought he saw one of them, only to be mistaken. Still, he was on edge and couldn't relax. He didn't have the luxury of time on his side. What was even worse, he couldn't even go home.
"That'll be the first place they look. Plus I gave Sayori a key to the house just in case. Stupid! How could I be so stupid!" He slammed a fist into the wall in frustration. He had nowhere to go, no one he could really turn to. "The police? Who'd believe me that five girls are trying to kill me? My parents? They're out of country on business, because of course they are right now. I don't even have friends that I could trust, and my childhood friend is one of the girls trying to kill me."
MC found an alleyway to hide in for the moment to catch his breath, sweat dripping down his face. He didn't know how far he had ran when he got to shore, but it was pretty far. "Maybe I just leave town?" he pondered between breaths. "Start over in a new city, with a new name."
"Oh, MC, you know that won't work. They'll just follow you wherever you go, find you, and kill you. You have to be smarter than them, afterall, how smart can they be? Sayori isn't exactly the brightest of the bunch. Natsuki isn't exactly known for her brains. Yuri is pretty inteligent but that's more book smarts than anything. I don't really know much about Kaiya… I don't even remember seeing her at school. Monika… she's the real threat here. She's smart, and she could get people to talk if they know anything, which means I can't tell anyone anything, which means I can't get help from anyone I know."
MC slumped over and put his hands in his face. He was lost and alone, unable to trust anyone. He didn't even know why they were after him. He didn't remember doing anything to hurt them, so why would they act like this?
"Hey Moni, why aren't we going after MC right away? What if he gets away?" Sayori asked, a puzzled look on her face.
"Yeah, shouldn't we like get him right away? He might tell someone," Natsuki added.
"Yeah! Like the fuzz!" Sayori said, her puzzled look changing into a stern gaze.
"I'm sorry, did you just say, 'the fuzz?'" Yuri asked. "Do people really talk like that?"
"No, just Sayori, and only when she gets into an anti-cop phase," Monika said, amused at the situation unfurling before her.
"She gets in anti-cop phases?" Aiki asked, perplexed at the news.
"She probably thinks that because of what we've done she has to act all tough or something," Natsuki said, rolling her eyes at Sayori's childlike behavior. "Not that I blame her, what good are those pigs if they couldn't even get me out of my dad's house after all the times I had him reported? Seriously, it's like they don't even exist sometimes. Useless pieces of shit…" Natsuki trailed off muttering curses directed towards the police.
"Hell yeah, stick it to the pigs!" Aiki said, giving Natsuki a high five.
"Aaaaanyways… there is a reason we aren't going after him right away," Monika said. "It's pretty simple, really. MC thinks that we're going to be after him. So why not let him worry about it a little. Psychological warfare can be extremely effective, you know. Also~ I think I know for a fact that we don't have to worry about him getting away or going to the, uh, fuzz, as Sayori put it."
"Why's that?" Sayori asked.
"I'll tell you why. Because he doesn't know who he can trust right now. What if he went there looking for safety from us girls? There'd be some sort of record of this happening, plus, knowing our police system, they'd more than likely laugh him out. More importantly *chuckles* I can, uh, track his movements, so he's not getting away from us."
"You can do that? How?" Yuri asked. She had a somewhat crazed look in her eyes that screamed 'I want to find him immediately.'
"Well, this is a game, remember?" Monika said, a sly smile on her face. "Or, really, it's a story, but it was originally a game."
"Wha-?"
"Don't worry about it. The point is, I can track his exact location without a problem." Monika said proudly.
"Well, I guess we'll keep following you, Ms. President!" Sayori said, giving a salute. Natsuki walked up behind Sayori and hugged her from behind.
"As long as I can punch that jerk in the face, I'll be happy."
"So then, where is he right now?" Yuri asked, brandishing a knife.
"He's in town right now. Hiding in an alleyway, probably thinking about ways to get away from us. But we're going to let him stress over this for a little bit before we have our fun."
MC quickly turned a corner in the alleyway, bumping into a homeless man, who fell to the ground.
"What the fuck, man?" The homeless man exclaimed.
"S-sorry, I'm just in a hurry," MC apologized quickly to the man before attempting to leave. The homeless man grabbed MC by the arm and spun him around to face him.
"Where do you think you're going?"
"As far away as I can go."
"Well, that ain't very kind of ya. Knocking a fella like me down and then running off."
"Well, as I said, I'm in a hurry. So if you don't mind, could you let me go?"
"What's the rush? You could have really hurt me, ya know."
"Yeah, I kn-"
"And you could still be getting hurt too." The homeless man pulled out a broken glass bottle, threatening MC. "I really think you should apologize better, don't you?"
"You know what? You're right." MC scanned his surroundings and saw a metal bar on the ground near his feet. "Let me apologize properly," He said, the man letting go of his arm. "I'm sorry for my actions. I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention and knocked you over."
"See, that wasn't too hard, was it?" The homeless man turned to walk away. MC picked up the metal bar. "But you know, I rea-" and that's all that the man managed to get out before MC bludgeoned him with the metal bar in his hands. MC hit the man repeatedly until he stopped moving.
Out of breath for an entirely different reason now, MC collapsed. He just killed a person, a stranger. What's worse, he didn't even feel bad about doing it. Maybe those girls felt the same way about trying to kill him, he thought to himself. Still, MC tried to justify things. "He threatened me first, and besides, he's homeless… nobody will miss him, right?" Still, MC thought, he had to get away from the area. If anyone showed up, he'd be caught for sure. So he ran as fast as he could away from the scene, as far as his already tired legs could take him.
