F - Fear

Hey everyone! What's this? An update that doesn't take a whole year? We love character development.

But yes! I'm here with another chapter and, this time, we're getting a little angsty up in here! It's my first time writing anything "angsty" so bear with me and I'm sorry in advance if it's not up to your standards lmao. I will say, however, I did really enjoy writing this one so maybe I'll do more angst in the future if you guys like it!

Well, that's enough from me! I hope you like this chapter! Be sure to review/favorite/follow! Now on to the story!

Rating T (maayybee M for mentions of blood) ~~~ Izuku and Ochako are in their early 20s! (that's all I'm gonna say this time hehe)

Blood.

So much blood.

It was all over her hands and it had ruined the purity of what used to be her bright and cheerful hero costume.

She didn't care.

She only cared about who lay in her desperate arms.

The man who always lifted her spirits. The man who encouraged and inspired her to do her very best. The man fought by her side against both villains and hardships. The man she loved with her entire being.

Deku.

He was fighting for his life and all she could do in the moment was offer her loving words as they waited for someone – anyone to help.

"Izuku? It's gonna be alright, ok? I've got you, just keep your eyes on mine." Ochako spoke with the calmest voice she could muster as sobs threatened to break through. Any background noise had been drowned out and the only thing she could hear was the shallow breaths of her lover in front of her.

"Can you say something so I know you're still with me?" She pleaded a bit selfishly.

Izuku's lips slightly curved upward before straining out, "I can hear you, love. Please tell mom I love her? She won't be too happy about this." He chuckled before coughing up more blood.

Ochako's eyes quickly filled with tears and she attempted to blink them away as she furiously shook her head, "No, no, no, no, Izuku! You can tell her that yourself! Because you are going to make it out of here! Don't give up on yourself! D-don't give up on me! Please, I love you. I love you so much I –" She was cut off with Izuku's cold hand on her cheek. He carefully wiped her wet skin, unknowingly mixing the blood and tears together.

"I love you, Ochako. Please don't forget to smile." He ended with a smile of his own before his hand went limp and the motion of his chest came to a stop.

Tears blurred her vision as she spoke in disbelief and denial, "Izuku? Izuku!? No! Please no! Stay with me! I –"

Ochako shot up with a gasp.

She looked down at her hands with quick breaths, only to see her sleep-mittens. She quickly threw them off and put her hands on her face, finding them wet from tears. As her breathing slowed down to a normal rate, she wiped her face while she tried to remember what caused her to wake up so suddenly.

Then it all came flooding back.

Ochako's heart rate and breathing picked up once again as she frantically looked beside herself only to find an empty space and cold sheets. Her mind started going a mile a minute as she panicked and jumped out of bed. However, she tried her best to push down her worries and attempted to calmly call out to her fiancé to conceal her distress because there's nothing to be worried about. Right?

"Deku?" She whispered as she exited their shared bedroom.

No answer.

She rounded the corner to the hallway that led to their kitchen and living room area. "Uhhh, Deku?" She whispered once again, a bit of panic seeping into her voice.

Relief washed over Ochako as she saw her fiancé's figure facing away from her as he had his hands against the sink with a glass of water next to him. Izuku still must've not heard her approaching since he slightly jumped at the feeling of Ochako wrapping her arms around his waist.

"Izuku!" She exclaimed with tears in her eyes.

The green-haired hero raised his arms in shock and tried to turn his head to find the brunette's eyes, "W-wha? Ochako, hey! What are you – "He interrupted himself as he heard sniffles from behind him.

"Ochako? W-what's wrong? Did something happen? A-are you hurt?" He spoke frantically as he finally managed to loosen her grip enough to fully turn his body around to face Ochako and grip her wrists. He then bent over to try to match her height in order to look into her eyes.

"Hey, it's ok! Just take a deep breath and look at me, ok?" He tried again. This time, Ochako was able to open her deep, chocolate eyes despite the tears still trailing down her face. She managed to compose herself long enough to meet his eyes and spoke desperately.

"N-nightmare." She sniffled and Izuku's eyes softened. "Th-the fight against the league? I-I keep r-reliving it."

Izuku frowned at that. He pulled her into a tight hug before speaking, "I'm sorry. I wish you hadn't seen me like that. I know that was scary for both of us." Ochako nodded as she bit her lip to prevent more tears.

"It always seems so real."

"That's because it technically was. I was just lucky enough to make it out alive." He chuckled to try to lighten the mood. However, Ochako frowned, as she wasn't too keen on discussing the subject for too long. She decided to switch the direction of their conversation with a question she had at the back of her mind since she saw him in the kitchen by himself.

"So, what has you up so late?" She pulled away enough to make eye contact once again.

Izuku looked away, apprehensive as he answered, "I, uh, couldn't sleep. Nightmare." He didn't catch the way Ochako's mouth opened in surprise as he continued, "So, I grabbed a glass of water and tried to clear my mind."

"What was it about?" She asked curiously as she knows that Izuku has nightmare's regularly about varying subjects.

"You, All Might, All for One, Eri. You know, a bunch of different things." He smiled sadly and looked back at his fiancé's worried face. He placed his hand on her arm that was wrapped around his neck and rubbed his thumb along her skin in an attempt to comfort her and ease her worries.

"Did you wanna talk about it?" Ochako also knows that he's not always open about his dreams and nightmares but it never hurts to ask.

"Not really. N-not yet, anyway."

Ochako answers with a subtle nod and offers him a warm smile. He's then able to put on a genuine smile as he looks lovingly at the caring woman in his arms.

Izuku yawns before speaking again, "I think I want to go back to sleep, though. How about you?" He could see the tiredness in her eyes, knowing her answer before she spoke.

"Yeah, I think that's a good idea."

Izuku surprises her by picking her up bridal style and carries her into bed, grateful to hear her angelic laugh echo throughout their apartment. They settle back into each other's arms and finally drift off into a peaceful slumber, minds full of comfort and absent of fearful thoughts and nightmares.
