A Very Bionic Brady 5

Chapter 5

"No don't worry, Gino, uh Mr. Trager." Manelli Continued, "I bet on Filmore and the odds are 50 to 1 against them, so when Westdale loses our winnings will more than cover what I owe you."

"I knew it!" thought Cindy, "a gambling ring! And it sounds like somebody is betting a whole lot of money against Westdale!"

Suddenly Cindy heard footsteps in the hallway. Quickly she hurried in the other direction looking for a place to hide. She rounded the corner and flattened herself against the wall.

A split second later the hallway light came on.

"Hmm," said one of the guards, "I could have sworn I heard footsteps up here a minute ago."

"Harry, you're paranoid." Muttered the Joe. The light went off and Cindy heard footsteps starting to go the other way. She turned to go and accidentally bumped into a small table in the hallway.

"what was that," said Harry, "Who's there?!"

"Oh shoot!" whispered Cindy. The men came running down the hall toward the corner. Cindy took off down the hallway in the other direction. She became a blur of motion. She went straight through the window at the end of the hallway.

She flew sixty feet out from the window. When she hit the ground, she pushed off again and went sailing over the wall. Landing on the other side of the wall she took off running again.

"Who was that," said Harry," or should I say, what was that?"

"I'm not sure," said Joe, "no human can move like that?"

They went back and reported what had happened to Minelli.

"I don't like this at all," said Minelli looking at the shattered window, "I don't like the idea of anybody knowing about our little operation."

"how could they know anything," said Harry, "They didn't get any farther than the upstairs hallway."

"Maybe," said Minelli, "I don't like loose ends. As for the way this thing escaped, I don't know what to make of that?"

Cindy was back home in a matter of minutes. She went back to bed for a while, but she couldn't sleep she was too worried.

Everybody noticed this at breakfast. Cindy seemed lost in her own thoughts.

"Cindy," said Carol, "Is something wrong?"

Cindy looked up.

"Mom," said Cindy, "I have a confession to make."

"Oh," said Mike, "What's that?"

"Yesterday I heard two men at the Westdale football field," said Cindy, "they were watching Greg and talking about him."

"what were they saying?" asked Mike

"They said that Greg was too good," Replied Cindy and they said that Mr. Minelli would come up with a way to make sure that Greg Brady was no longer a threat to them!"

Mike and Carol looked worried.

"Why would my being good a football be a threat to anybody?" said Greg bewildered

"There's more," said Cindy, "Last night I went out and paid a secret visit to Manelli's Estate and taking what I heard and adding two and two brings me to the conclusion that somebody is betting against Westdale. And trying to make sure Westdale Loses so they can make a lot of money!"

"That's how you're a threat, Greg," said Mike, "If your too good Filmore as much less chance of winning."

"and according to Cindy they're liable to try something to keep you from playing." Said Carole

Cindy nodded, "So please be careful today."

"I will Cindy," Greg smiled.

A few minutes later the kids all left on their way to school. Greg and Marcia headed toward Westdale, unaware that someone was watching them.

Harry lowered his binoculars.

"So," he said, "That's Greg Brady's sister."

"One of them," said Minelli, "He's has three, but I think that one is our best bet. With joe's position as a Janitor at Westdale it should make getting ahold of her easy!"

"And Greg Brady won't hesitate to throw the game, to protect his sister!" Grinned Harry

"Exactly," Minelli grinned back. "Greg Brady will soon deliver, 500,000 dollars!"
