Ah, it's been a while, hasn't it? This is also a pretty short chapter, but it had to end on a cliffhanger. :)

I'm also not entirely sure where this is going, there was no plot to begin with, but I do think there should be something lurking in the shadows, as it usually does. More notes later. Read first.

Chapter Six

The school's friendly mischief-finding trio of Harry, Ron, and Hermione were currently browsing through books in the library. Two members of the group were bored and one was frustrated. After searching in the library for a useful book for what seemed like weeks, they still couldn't find a single mention of the lupin-vary-thing. However, that didn't stop their discussions and theories.

Some time ago, Hermione had to explain concepts about sci-fi because Harry and Ron had absolutely no idea what she meant by "another dimension."

So, she explained the multiverse theory to them. Or, she explained the theory, but neither Harry nor Ron understood it besides a few concepts.

"You mean, there's another Earth in… another…. dimension?" Ron wondered aloud. "And a dimension is another world, but it's not here? And people can't go to the other world whenever they want?"

"Uh…" Hermione's eyebrows twitched slightly. "Basically?" Apparently, her hours of explaining the multiverse theory had all gone to waste, she could have just said a few sentences about another world possibly existing and they would have understood.

"And, you told us this whole 'multiverse theory' because you believe lupavariforms are from another dimension," Harry summed up.

"Precisely!" Hermione exclaimed. "Good job. You understand. Now, what are the chances that John and Harold know something about this?"

"Pretty high chances," Harry said. Ron nodded.

"And what are the chances that John and Harold are also from that other dimension?"

Harry and Ron stared at her. Two hidden students on the ceiling above them looked at each other.

"Told you we gave her too much information!"

"They know they know they know they know."

"Should we drop down like ninjas and announce our presence?"

"Wait, I want to see what happens. Do ninjas even announce their presence?"

While two eavesdroppers had their mental conversations, the Golden Trio still debated this new theory.

"Them, from another dimension?"

They looked at each other and thought about what had happened in the past month since third year began.

"Yeah, they are a little strange," Harry agreed. "Do you remember that conversation we overheard, between Professor Lupin and them?"

They thought about it in silence for a few moments.

"Sure, they are a little strange, but that doesn't mean they're from another dimension! And even if they were, isn't it just another Earth? So they'd also be wizards and be like us, right?" Ron stated.

"Professor Lupin said the rift was from fifty years ago. There's no way they'd still be eleven if they came through the rift," Harry pointed out one of the flaws he saw in Hermione's theory.

Hermione couldn't seem to come up with a response, so she just sighed.

"Okay, let's assume they aren't from another dimension," she said. "What about Professor Lupin? He confirmed that he's a descendant of the lupavariforms. Maybe he knows something, let's ask him!"

"Wait, wait, wait," Ron held up his hand. "I still don't understand what the lupa-vary-things even are! What did they mean by bitten and native and descendants? Dude, what is a lupin-vary-thing in the first place?"

"I'd like to know too," Harry raised his hand.

"We can find out all of that if we ask Professor Lupin," Hermione said. "Duh. Let's go!"

"Go where?" a stern voice announced. "You aren't going anywhere. What's this talk about seeing Professor Lupin? And lupavariforms? Where did you hear about this from?"

Harry, Ron, and Hermione stopped in their tracks, as they turned slowly to look at the teacher, Professor McGonagall.

"H-hey," Ron whispered. "Does she know something too?"

"I believe you won't have a class after lunch, so I expect to see you in my classroom then. We shall be discussing this."

The three friends gulped as they went off to lunch.

Later, after lunch, the trio made their way to the Transfiguration classroom. They hesitantly knocked on the open door, and saw Professor McGonagall sitting there with Professor Lupin.

"Come in," she said when she looked up and saw them. "Don't be shy."

After they all sat down, there was a long moment of awkward silence.

"Now, I assume you all know that lupavariform is an archaic term for werewolf. How did you figure out Professor Lupin was a werewolf?"

The three blinked a few times.

"A-A-A-A WEREWOLF?" Ron screeched as he jumped out of his chair, his shaking hand pointing at Professor Lupin.

Harry raised his hands in some form of surrender. "We-we didn't know about the werewolf part!"

More awkward silence.

"You didn't know?" Professor McGonagall sighed. "Well, you know now."

Ron started backing away slowly, causing Professor Lupin to sigh as well.

"I'm not going to attack you, Mr. Weasley," Professor Lupin said. "If I wanted to, wouldn't I have done it by now? And certainly not in front of another professor."

"Oh, y-yeah," Ron said, sitting back down.

"Another question I have for you all, is how, precisely, did you find out I was a lupavariform? I assume you did not just magically find out by chance?"

The trio looked at each other nervously. Hermione decided to speak up.

"We… We followed the first years. John and Harold."

"Yeah. Harry heard them talking to you on the train, so…"

"Sorry, Professor."

"James was quite similar, I suppose I should have expected this to happen," Professor Lupin muttered before speaking up again. "How much of the conversation did you hear?"

Harry gulped. "All of it?"

Professor Lupin sighed again. "I guess it had to come out eventually. I can see you have questions, feel free to ask, though keep in mind I may not answer all of them."

The trio glanced at each other again before Hermione decided to speak up.

"Did aliens really come through a rift fifty years ago?"

"Aliens? What nonsense is this?" Professor McGonagall interrupted their conversation.

The other four peoples' eyes widened.

"A-ah, well, this also had to come out eventually, I guess," Professor Lupin said. "Can I ask you all to keep what is discussed here a secret? At least for now."

They all nodded, curiosity overpowering their desires to blab to Dumbledore.

"To answer your question, Ms. Granger, yes, aliens did come through a rift fifty years ago. I am not one of those aliens, but my father was."

"OH! So that's what you meant by descendants and natives! And since lupa-varys are werewolves, you also got bitten by one!" Ron looked pleased with himself for figuring it out, and his smug expression increased when Professor Lupin nodded.

"Do you know anything about the rift or the other dimension?" Hermione asked. She always had the good questions.

"No, unfortunately, I only know my father came from the other dimension through the rift fifty years ago. I was born after."

"Do you know anything about John and Harold?" Hermione tried again.

"I have my suspicions, based on the stories my father told me many years ago. But I can't say for sure, and I would rather they tell you themselves."

"So they are aliens!" Ron shouted before he was shushed by Hermione.

"No, we only thought they were from another dimension. They could be from Earth from all you know, after all, they do look human."

"They look like Time Lords. Time Lords came first."

"Humans always thinking they're the best."
"It's not like they know better."

"Oh, you're right, they definitely look human," Ron deflated. "How do they still look eleven if they came fifty years ago, then?"

"I also have an idea," Professor McGonagall said. "When the two first appeared in Hogwarts-"

"APPEARED?" the Golden Trio chorused.

"But you can't apparate in Hogwarts!" Hermione protested.

"Yes, appeared, now let me continue. They argued in front of me, about landing in 1869 instead of 1860. I thought they were delusional or maybe playing the muggle game "roleplaying," but it is very possible they are time travelers as well."

"Wow, these wizards are pretty smart."

"I knew we gave them too many hints!"

"It's possible they are wizards from another dimension, who came here, from the future."

"Okay… what…?"

Hermione, however, nodded enthusiastically.

"That explains how they solved the four hundred and forty three year old dilemma, telepathy!"

"Ohhhhh, that makes sense!" Harry said.

"Telepathy?" Ron questioned, trying to remember. "What's this about again?"

"Remember, during the first week of school? Second day? They said they didn't do so because otherwise people couldn't eavesdrop on their conversations."

"That sounds dumb, why wouldn't they want to keep their conversations private?"

Everyone shrugged, equally as confused.

"Doesn't matter. What does matter, right now, would be getting in contact with them. If they truly are wizards from the future, and from another dimension, this could be a once-in-a-lifetime chance!" Hermione exclaimed. "We could ask about the future!"

"In another dimension," Harry reminded her.

"Still…"

Professor McGonagall's eyes suddenly widened as she realized something.

"There were supposed to be dementors patrolling the school to search for Sirius Black, but the decision was revoked last-minute. Perhaps the first years had something to do with that?"

Harry only heard the words "Sirius Black."

"WAIT! You mean the one who wants to kill me? Why would they remove the dementors then?"

"Well, Harry," Hermione said. "You remember on the train?"

"Eh…. not really. I think Harold had a nasty reaction to the dementor, but I wasn't actually there. The two looked a bit pale when I saw them after."

"Well, if they have those memories, it makes sense why they don't want dementors here. I guess we can thank them for that?"

"But Sirius Black!" Ron protested. "He's going to kill Harry!"

"Mr. Weasley warned me before, but it's not like he's shown up yet, has he? We can worry about it when it happens. After all, Hogwarts is a very safe place, and I, for one, am more concerned about these time traveling alternate dimension wizards."

"They seem pretty convinced we're wizards."

"If you were them, what would you think?"

"You have a point."

"Agh, this is so frustrating!" Hermione exclaimed, putting her hand on her forehead. "Can we just go ask them now? Worst case scenario, they'll just try to steer the conversation in a different direction. It won't hurt to try."

"It won't hurt to try? Of course! But where would we find them?"

More silence.

"Good point…"

"I only see them when they're causing trouble," Ron supplied helpfully.

"Then what are we waiting for? Let's go find them!" Harry stood up and headed for the door, but was stopped when Ron grabbed his hand quickly.

"Wait, wait, how are you planning on finding them? The castle's huge!" Ron protested.

"What are you even going to ask when you do find them? We need to come up with a plan," Hermione said.

"Imagine what their boggarts could possibly be! We had the class recently, the boggart's still in the closet, right?"

"Boggarts sound nasty."

"Do you think they live in a swamp? Bog-garts."

"Like Hog-warts?"

"No, that's different- What's with their naming sense?"

"I dunno, witches and wizards and anything that rhymes with 'warts'?"

"Reminds me of the creepy things Snape keeps in his cupboard."

"Oh, we haven't gotten around to messing with Snape, have we?"

Not-so-silent snickering ensued.

"Did you hear something?"

"A boggart?"

"I think it was the wind."

"The boggart is still there, but do you really want to know what alternate dimension future wizards are afraid of?" Professor Lupin steered the conversation back a bit.

"I'm curious, and now that I've considered it, I can't stop thinking about it! I have to know!"

"But…" Harry stopped her before they all chorused:

"We have to find them first."

And, of course, that's when two first years dropped from the ceiling like ninjas.

More notes! I never planned any sort of reveal, but it seems like some sort is starting to happen. After all, the Trio successfully eavesdropped on the conversation last chapter. Something was bound to happen eventually. And Hermione's theory just happened to be proven somewhat. Now the real question is, will they figure it out? Will all their memories be mysteriously wiped somehow instead? You never know, and neither do I. It's a mystery.

Lately I've been watching more anime (a lot more) and so I stopped writing as much, but I'm doing my best to do the two updates a year, so that's still happening. I can see this particular story dragging on for a long time, or ending soon, or having another ten chapters, still not sure yet. There is definitely some sort of ending in sight. Maybe even a horrible sequel.

Good job to anyone who's somehow been sticking with this for the past 3 years.
