Hi hi! Sorry for the long wait but the alternative ending is here! This starts from halfway of chapter 16 of the main story anddddd for this ending, I'm writing it in third person POV which is slightly different from the main story. Also, I'd be writing everything into one chapter so this will really be the last chapter for a little different. Once again, I would like to thank everyone who has been following my story, you are the best!

Let's go on with the story ^^

"I CAN'T FIND RICCHAN!"

'What... what did Kisa just say? He can't find Onodera? Aren't they together?' Takano thought to himself.

"Takano-san... are you... still there..." Kisa stammered into the phone.

"YES I AM!" Takano unconsciously yelled into the phone. When he heard a small squeak on the other end of the call, he realised that he had raised his volume too much. He coughed and continued, "Sorry. Where are you right now?"

"At the bookstore near our office. I've searched the whole bookstore but I can't find him." Kisa sniffled as he reported.

"Calm down Kisa. We'll find him somehow. I'll get the others to help search as well. You just continue searching around that area and keep me updated."

"Yes boss." With that said, He ended the call and called Hatori and Mino over. Hatori was on the phone, probably with this author, and Mino was just resting in his seat with his head on the table. When he called them over, Hatori said something like 'I'll call you later, no everything is alright' and he hung up. Mino just flopped off the desk and they both walked over to where Takano was, exhaustion clearly written on their faces.

"Onodera is missing, Kisa just called me and told me that we couldn't find him. We'll split up and search for him in the places that he regularly goes, alright. We need to find him ASAP!" When he finished, their faces were no longer filled with exhaustion, it was replaced with seriousness. Both of them gave their boss a firm nod and went our own ways to find him.

As Takano exited the office, his first thought was the library that they both go to. Running against time, he ran towards the library at full speed. While running, the sky grumbled and turned a few shades darker, today is seriously not a good day.

As he was running he suddenly caught a glimpse of chestnut brown hair. He instinctively ran towards that brown hair, hoping that it was his lover. When he was closer, that chestnut brown hair suddenly started walking across the road while the light was still red. When he was halfway across the road, from the corner of his eye, Takano spotted a bright red sports car zooming towards Onodera. He unconsciously ran forward with his hand out-stretched, hoping to pull his lover out of the way but he was too slow.

Everything happened in slow motion and there was no sound, just like an old movie. The bonnet of the red sports car hitting Onodera and his body flying and landing on the hard concrete floor in a mess. When his head hit the floor, a loud disgusting crack echoed through his ears and it kept ringing. A scream from behind shook him out of his shocked state and Takano immediately ran forward.

"ONODERA! OI! ANSWER ME! OI! ONODERA! ONODERA!"

Takano placed his hand under Onodera head, hoping to support it somehow. But instead of feeling a soft smooth texture, he felt something sticky. When he took a closer look, he noticed that Onodera's once chestnut brown hair was now stained red. Bloody was oozing from his head down his neck and into his shirt. Takano slowly turned him over, and his heart hurt when he saw the state of Onodera's face. Onodera's face was paler than usual and his beautiful emerald eyes were shut. His cheeks were filled with scratches and blood was trickling down his face from there. But the thing that made his heart ache were the tear stains.

Onodera was the most stubborn and strong-willed person Takano had ever met. No matter what happened, Onodera always stayed strong. Seeing that strong person in tears meant that someone had hurt his lover emotionally. Naturally, no one would want to see their lover injured or hurt in anyway. Seeing Onodera in this state made his heart hurt and he would never ever forgive whoever did this to him.

Suddenly, paramedics and policemen rushed into the scene. Some of the policemen went over to the on-lookers who were at the scene while some of them tried to pull Takano away from Onodera so that the paramedics could help him. Takano knew that someone was asking him questions but all his attention was fixed on Onodera. When he saw the paramedics moving him onto a gurney, Takano stood up and ran forward to where they were.

"Sir please do not interfere with our work, we need to get him to the hospital as soon as possible!"

"I'm going with you!"

"What is your relation to him?"

"I'm his lover!"

There was an awkward pause before the paramedic allowed Takano to ride with them to the hospital. The whole journey to the hospital took roughly 5 minutes but if felt like forever. When they finally reached the hospital, Takano followed the gurney all the way until the operating room where they didn't allow him to enter.

Takano walked towards the empty chairs in the hallway and sat there with his head in his hands. Everything happened so quickly that Takano didn't even have time to process everything that happened. He felt his pocket vibrate and pulled out his phone. 'Takano-san, have you found Ricchan?' It was from Kisa. 'Yes I have, I am with him right now. Please tell the others to go home first, I'll update you soon.' He typed a quick reply before sliding the phone back into his pocket.

"Excuse me sir, I am a policemen and I would like you ask you some questions? Is that alright?"

"Sure..."

When Takano stood up, he felt all the strength in his legs disappear and he fell onto the floor.

"Sir! Are you alright?" The policemen bent down and helped Takano back onto the seat before telling him that they could do it here.

After Takano answered all of the policemen's questions, he was told that it was a hit-and-run accident and that the police department is doing their best to track down the culprit. Takano thanked him for informing him of everything and the policemen left.

Takano was alone. He was sitting alone in the quiet hallway. The only sound he heard was the ticking of his wrist watch. He just sat there with his head in his hands just staring at his shoes. Takano closed his eyes and did a silent prayer for Onodera to be alright. After waiting for another hour or so, a doctor came out of the operating room and asked for Onodera Ritsu's family. Takano stood up and went forward. When the doctor asked what was his relationship with Onodera, Takano said that they were lovers. The doctor was slightly suspicious but he decided to let Takano know of Onodera's status as there was no other family member there.

"I'll just let you know the more serious injuries as I cannot give the full report to a non-family member. Onodera-kun has 3 broken ribs, a concussion and a few scratches here and there. We will have to keep him here in the hospital for us to check on him and to monitor him."

"Ok. Thank you doctor. Can I see him?"

"Of course. He is currently being moved to room 33."

After thanking the doctor a second time, Takano walked over to room 33. He reached out and grabbed the door handle and just stood there. After taking a deep breath he pushed the door open and walked over to the bed where his lover was. Onodera was wrapped in bandages from head to toe and had an oxygen mask strapped over his mouth and nose. Takano pulled a chair next to the bed and held Onodera's hand. It really hurt him to see Onodera in this state. Takano rested his forehead on Onodera's hand and closed his eyes, drifting off to sleep.

Takano woke up the next morning to someone tapping him. He sat up and lifted his glasses upwards before rubbing the sleep out of his eyes. When he wore back his glasses, he saw a woman looking at where Takano was holding Onodera's hand.

"Excuse me but may I know who you are and what is your relationship with my son?"

"Sorry madam, I am Takano Masamune, Onodera's boss."

"Oh... so you are Ritsu's boss. Thank you for always looking after this problematic son of mine. I'm sure that he has caused you many problems and complications, I apologise on this behalf. He always does things to half-heartedly, what am I going to do with his useless son of mine."

"He doesn't do things half-heartedly." Takano murmured.

"Sorry, I didn't catch that."

"I said that Onodera doesn't do things half-heartedly. I don't know who you heard that from but your son is infact the most hardworking person in my department. He has not caused a single problem for me. Instead, he is very accomplished and has great potential. No one is able to replace him."

"Oh... I see... Anyways, this is my number. Do notify me when he wakes up. I have some business to attend to and I don't have the time to waste waiting for him to wake up."

"Sure..." And with that, Onodera's mother left the room.

"You sure have a horrible mother huh Onodera." Takano said in Onodera's direction.

He held Onodera's hand tighter and stared at his lover's peaceful sleeping face. Takano slipped out his phone and messaged Kisa everything that happened, including the room where they were. The rest of the morning passed by without any incident, the only victors were the nurses who came in occasionally to check up on Onodera. After lunch time, the first few visitors came. They were Kisa, Hatori and Mino. They placed the flowers and gifts they bought on the table near his bed and asked what happened. After explaining everything that happened, they all took turns to hold Onodera's hand and wish him a quick recovery. With everything that happened, Takano had forgotten that today was the deadline for the magazine. However, before he could say anything, Hatori beat him to it.

"Takano-san please stay here and look after Onodera. Mino, Kisa and myself will work on the magazine." I looked over to where Mino and Kisa were standing. They responded with a nod.

"Thank you, I'm counting on the 3 of you." They smiled and said a quick goodbye before heading back to the office to complete the magazine.

The rest of the afternoon was nerve-wreaking for Takano. He wanted to know what was going on back in the office as well as stay with Onodera. He finally calmed down when he received a message from Hatori that they had submitted the magazine and that Isaka had given the whole team a break to rest. Isaka mentioned that they only had to go back to the office when Onodera was feeling back to normal after being discharged.

Over the next few days, Kisa, Mino and Hatori took turns to visit Onodera at the hospital. On the fourth morning, Takano heard someone whispering something and awoke from his sleep. He looked over to his lover, expecting to see him still asleep. But when he saw Onodera looking back him, he was so shocked that no words came out from his mouth. Takano immediately reached over and pulled Onodera into a hug. "Onodera... I'm so glad that you are alright!"

"Um.. Sorry but who are you?"

Those six words pierced through his heart like a sharp arrow. He released Onodera from his hug and stared at him. They just sat there staring at each other for a while until a nurse came in. When she saw that Onodera was awake, she immediately called for the doctor. After the doctor came in and did some tests on Onodera, he turned to Takano to inform him.

"Onodera-kun has recovered really quickly physically. However, I am detecting signs of amnesia. This could be caused by the concussion he received. Sadly, I'm not sure when his memories will come back. The worst case scenario is that his memories may not even come back at all."

Hearing that his lover may never remember anything ever again shattered Takano's heart. He sadly thanked the doctor before turning back to Onodera.

"My name is Takano Masamune, your current neighbor, boss and..."

"And?"

"And your ex-lover."

"Ex-lover?"

"Yes..."

"Sorry but I do not remember you at all..."

"It's ok... Your parents are really busy with work and they have tasked me to help take care of you. When the doctor gives the clear, we will head back to our apartments alright?"

"Alright. I thank you in advance for taking care of me."

"No problem..."

Takano knew that this was going to be a tough recovery and he knew that Onodera had a chance that he is never going to get his memories back ever again. Takano silently cursed, 'if only things were a little different, then Onodera wouldn't have had to suffer all that...'

And this is the final end for 'A little different'! Sorry if this seemed rushed because I didn't have as much time to write this compared to the previous chapters. Once again thank you for reading my work and I hope that you will support my other pieces if I write anymore! Also I'm accepting any requests if anyone has:)
