The Fall of Robin

Chapter 7

Beast Boy's heart rate accelerated, as he heard Batman over the Comm, "I'm sorry, but it is unknown if anyone there is alive, we've lost all contact." Beast Boy started to see red. He felt the Beast wind up inside of him, this urge to let it free, to go and tear apart the Joker's men rose up from the bottom of his stomach.

He let out a feral growl of rage. He felt himself transforming, the Beast was coming out, and there was nothing he could do about it. He turned into the Beast quickly and started dropping out of the air. He felt himself grow wings, like when he was transforming into a pterodactyl.

Beast Boy flapped his wings and felt himself speed up, flying faster than he ever had by far. Beast Boy was flying so fast he had begun to keep up with Kid Flash. It wasn't long he could see that he was starting to gain on Kid Flash.

"Beast Boy!" Kid Flash called out to the Green teen. "At this pace, you'll tire yourself out before we even get there!"

"It doesn't matter! Raven is in that house!" Beast Boy told him, "We have to get there faster."

Beast Boy sped up, even more, pushing past his limits. Kid Flash grunted and accelerated as well.

Beast Boy cried out, "KF! It's...its...over. Wayne Manor has fallen."

Kid Flash cursed, "Do you see any survivors?"

"Nobody from our side yet. Lot's of Joker's goons. This isn't looking good KF." Beast Boy told them.

Kid Flash sped up, even more, arriving at the house seconds later. He stopped and looked in horror at the scene in front of him. Wayne Manor had not just been burned to the ground. No, instead it had been blown up.

Beast Boy landed next to him, his eyes wide in horror. "No. They...they were in there?" He felt his heart drop, the beast souls inside him roared, he couldn't hold them back. He let out a guttural roar. He felt himself morphing again, this time into a dragon. The mythical creature he could only pull out in the direst of straits.

He flapped his wings and took off into the sky. With Kid Flash screaming at him, "BB wait!"

He didn't listen though, his animal instincts had fully taken over.

He targeted the Joker, the madman who was laughing his guts out with glee, "Looks like you figured out my plan! AHAHAHAHAHA! Wonder how Batsy will take it? Will it finally push him past his righteousness?"

Right before Beast Boy could chomp on the Joker, Harley Quinn popped up in front of him with an RPG, firing it right into Beast Boy's face. Beast Boy roared in agony as he flew backward morphing down into his human form. He hit the ground hard and rolled to Kid Flash's feet.

Kid Flash looked at him with wide eyes, Beast Boy had just been hit point-blank with rocket, and lived. Good thing he was a dragon when it hit him.

Beast Boy stood up angry, clutching his head in one hand, and growling, "That hurt." Beast Boy stumbled again. He wasn't looking when Harley, and the Joker both pulled out RPGs and got ready to fire. Kid Flash grabbed Beast Boy, threw him over his shoulder and started running, but he was too slow carrying Beast Boy to escape the blast. The shockwave sent Kid Flash off his feet, and he and Beast Boy flew through the air crash landing in some of the rubble of the manor. Kid Flash landed hard on his leg, breaking it. Kid flash cried out in pain, grabbing his leg, and looking down at it grimacing. It was snapped at a 90-degree angle. He dropped his head back and groaned in pain. He then looked over at Beast Boy who was laying on the ground, not moving and shook his head. The speedster started crawling towards Beast Boy when the Joker started laughing.

"That looks like it hurts! AHAHAHAHA Harley, why didn't the little Flash cross the road?" The Joker howled laughing.

"Oh Oh! I know this one Mista J! Cause he broke his leg!" Harly howled with laughter as the two started to advance on the downed Titans.

Their advance was stopped as a bullet hit the ground in front of their feet. "JOKER! Leave now before I do to you, what you did to me!" Red Hood screamed at the Joker. He was at the top of all the rubble of the main house, he was bloodied, but holding a sniper rifle.

The Joker dove behind some rubble and he and Harley hid, while the Joker yelled to his followers, "What are you waiting for, shoot him you idiots!"

Joker's goons opened fire on Red Hood's location. Red Hood ducked behind the rubble, he grunted, he was pinned down, it was keeping him from taking a shot, there were just too many of them firing at different intervals, covering each other. Red Hood grunted angrily, this didn't make any sense, these men were highly trained to fire like this. It wasn't sporadic random fire, it wasn't everyone firing at the same time, as much as they could, it was timed, professionally trained. Joker's goons were normally thugs. Something was fishy about all of this. The Joker, while often trying to cause chaos amongst the bat family, he never went after them with this much vigor, he had already hurt Dick, why was he coming back after him?

Red Hood pivoted around his cover, scoped in, and fired a shot, and dropped one of the goons. He watched carefully as the man was dragged backward to cover by the other goons. This proved it, these men were extremely well trained, military background, maybe even black ops. Red Hood was perplexed, everything was so wrong for what the Joker normally did, he growled, sighting in another goon, and hitting him in the leg, taking him out of the gunfight at the very least. Joker was still advancing on Kid Flash and Beast Boy, however.

Beast Boy looked up, shaking his head, finally coming back to a bit of consciousness, his anger flared back up and he was about to morph again when he heard a gunshot, he roared at the searing hot pain that went through his shoulder. He looked back up to see the bottom of Harley's hammer right to his face. He flew backward slightly and hit the rubble wall hard, sliding down it he heard Kid Flash scream as the Joker stepped on his broken leg. Beast Boy's ears were ringing and he groaned again, he growled, his shoulder was killing him and Harley stood over him, pointing the gun at him again, "I wouldn't move if I were you Greeny!"

Harley Quinn laughed as she called out to the green changeling, "Oh! And if you transform, you'll likely make that injury even worse!"

Beast Boy growled, he knew she was right, but it was a risk he was going to have to take, he had to take them out and try to find Raven. He roared as he morphed into a snake, slithering away from the bullet that hit right where his head had been moments later, he morphed again, into a hawk taking off into the air. Flapping his wings he soared away from the next three bullet shots. He swooped back down, his claws ripping into Harley Quinn's arm, forcing her to drop the gun she was shooting. Harley screamed and dropped the gun, she instead began to swing her hammer at the green bird flying around her. Beast Boy morphed again, he could feel his shoulder muscles tearing every time he morphed he was making his shoulder worse. This time Beast Boy became a rhino, charging at Harley and ramming into her and sending her flying towards the Joker as he followed, charging towards the Joker to save Kid Flash.

The Joker turned away from the redheaded boy he was tormenting and dodged a flying Harley, and jumped over the rampaging rhino, shooting at him from behind with his handgun, he started dashing away from Beast Boy, laughing as he did. Beast Boy skidded to a halt, turning around and dashing back for the Joker.

"Open Fire Men! On the Green Rhino!" Joker yelled out to his goons. Half his squad turned and started to fire at Beast Boy. Beast Boy had to morph into a small bird flying around dodging the firestorm of bullets. He flew through the bullets towards the men, dropping down onto the ground, morphed into an alligator, he tail whipped a man, clamping his jaws down on another man's legs, twisting around, breaking the leg in multiple places, before clamping down on the rifle as well.

Red Hood looked down as Beast Boy was in the middle of the squad firing at him. He growled they were so highly trained, the half that turned to attack Beast Boy, split into an entirely separate unit. All this while the unit still trained on him, didn't even look at Beast Boy. They kept firing at him, keeping up their unrelenting barrage on his position. They weren't trying to get him, they were stalling him, they were keeping him out of the battle. That really pissed him off, he growled, he couldn't use a scoped weapon at the moment. However, he knew he wouldn't be able to do proper damage with his pistols.

He slid to the ground, pulling out his handgun and his Walther PPQ and fired blindly around the wall, while holding his rifle in between his knees. He popped his multitool out of his equipment belt, using the Allen key attachment, he began unscrewing his scope, stopping for a moment to reload, he was laying down fire to keep them from continuing to advance on his position, hoping he could hit one, while at the same time making an adjustment to his rifle mid-fight. He growled, dropping his first handgun and pulling out his second PPQ and unloading it while he finally pulled the scope off, he would use the iron sights now. He popped out with his rifle, his M21, with iron sights, he could aim much faster, though wasn't nearly as accurate now. Red Hood popped back out and fired one shot, he hit one man in the right shoulder, dropping him. He pulled back behind his hiding spot and pulled the bolt back and allowed the casing to pop out. He pushed the bolt back in and chambered another bullet.

He was about to pop back out to fire again when Alfred crawled up to him. Alfred had blood dried to his forehead and face. His suit was in tatters and he was bleeding from various cuts all over his body.

Jason raised his eyebrow, "Holy shit Alfred, what happened to you?"

"Not to worry master Jason, but I was blasted through a window and out of the house, I hit my head. I'm feeling fine now, nothing that hasn't happened before." Alfred responded.

Jason shook his head, "You're the most badass butler out there Al. What about Dick and Raven?"

"I wasn't able to get to them, but I have a feeling they will be fine. I was monitoring them from my phone the whole time, based on the heart monitor on Dick, he woke up, and moved before the roof caved." Alfred told him.

"He is very resourceful." Jason told him, "What's the plan?"

"You have your hand guns and gear right?" Alfred asked the young man.

"Yeah, I just can't get close enough to put my other skills to use at the moment." Jason told him.

"Ah, give me the rifle, I'll play overwatch and pick them off, you get down there and save Beast Boy, and Kid Flash." Alfred told him.

"I'm not sure I can get close enough like this." Jason told him. "I've been looking for an opening, but the firing pattern doesn't leave any gaps."

Alfred nodded, "It's a good thing I have these stun grenades I pulled off a couple of them."

Jason laughed, "That is a good thing, I do prefer to get up close and personal with the people I fight. These bastards especially."

Alfred nodded, "Are you ready?"

Jason pulled his mask out of his jacket and fitted on to his face, "Ready when you are." He handed Alfred the rifle and pulled his handguns out of his back holsters.

Alfred threw the flash bang down at the closer group, while Jason tossed a smoke pellet further out. The smoke would cover him from the shooters further back while he took out the forward battalion. Jason jumped out from his spot and full sprinted to the group.

Jason jumped into the middle of the group, He fired a shot into the closest man's knee, then fired his knee up into the man's face knocking him out as he fell to the ground. He then turned and fired two shots into a man's shoulders, before executing a jumping spin kick to the man's face. Two down.

He heard a shot and a man fall behind him, the man fell to the ground, blood pooling out of his head. Jason raised an eyebrow, he hadn't realized Alfred killed.

Jason turned and blocked a punch, dropping a pistol, turning and throwing the man over his shoulder before firing a bullet from the gun he had left into the man's knee while still holding the arm he used to throw him. He rolled over the arm, snapping it, released it and picked up his hand gun as he rolled back to his feet. He shot the next man in the foot while he was still crouched low. He pistol whipped the man and jumped onto the next closest goons shoulders. He twisted and threw the man into another before jumping and spinning into an axe kick onto the man's face knocking both out. He heard another shot and Alfred killed another person, the bullet going straight through his eyes.

Jason turned to go after the next group to find them much closer to him than he thought. The men had their guns leveled at him, he jumped behind a broken column and cursed as bullets flew around him, multiple hitting the columns. Alfred fired and killed another man, but there were too many. While half of the group fired at Jason, the other half fired at Alfred pinning both men.

A third faction started moving towards Jason while he and Alfred were pinned.

Joker laughed, "That's good men! Full retreat! Batsy should be here soon, and we have what we need."

The men yelled in agreement. They started to retreat, keeping Alfred and Jason pinned as they covered and moved.

Jason peeked at Joker's goons carrying Starfire, Beast Boy, and Kid Flash. Jason yelled in frustration, there was nothing he could do as bullet's continued to fly past his head.

Alfred sighed, he couldn't get to them, he wasn't able to save anyone today. Not Dick, not Raven, not Starfire, not Beast Boy, not Kid Flash.

"Red Hood, were you able to get a tracker on any of them?" Alfred called out.

"No. I never got close enough to those guys, once I can move though, I'll go after them." Jason told Alfred.

"No, I think it would be best to regroup. We have plenty of guys here we can interrogate. Let those guys go." Alfred told him.

"You sure?" Jason asked, he was feeling his rage boiling over, he needed to give chase.

"Yes. I need to call Batman, we need to try to get to Dick and Raven. They are currently priority number one." Alfred told him wisely.

Jason nodded, "Yeah okay, I'll get these guys tied up, you call Batman."

Dick woke up in a rush taking in a deep breath, his whole body hurt he was trapped in the dark. He groaned, Raven was underneath him, they were trapped under the roof of Wayne manor as it had collapsed on top of them. Luckily Dick was able to get under the medical bed with Raven and there was no weight bearing down on him, but he couldn't move more than a couple feet, and he didn't want to risk a collapse, there was too much on top of them. He painstakingly moved his hand to Raven's neck and checked for a pulse. He sighed in relief as he felt it, Raven was still alive. "Raven, wake up, I need you to wake up." He told her.

There was no response, "Raven, please wake up." Dick pleaded with her. Still he got no response. Dick sighed, he moved his hand down to his belt and picked out a light stick and his communicator, he cracked the light stick and looked around. He cursed, Raven was bleeding, she had been impaled by a piece of wood through her side. The bleeding was very slow and he knew the second it was taken out her life would be in jeopardy.

Dick flipped open his communicator, "Call Cyborg." He told it.

Cyborg answered, "Rob, are you guys okay?"

"No. Manor's roof collapsed, Raven and I were inside, I'm with her now, but she is still out cold. She's injured and bleeding with a wooden stake through her."

"Holy shit dude. What about Star, BB, and Kid? BB and Kid left us to get to y'all faster, Batman should be there in about 10 minutes." Cyborg told him.

"I don't know. I heard an explosion, Manor was shaking, and I got Raven and I under a bed. We are safe for now, but I don't think Raven has longer than 2 hours like this. She's not bleeding much, but as soon as that splinter comes out she will be. I think Star is in trouble, she was furious with me and was trying to leave when the explosion hit. How is Babs, did you guys get her?"

Cyborg nodded, "Tim and I dropped her off at the hospital, we weren't able to wait and learn what her status was. Sorry."

"It's fine, thank you for helping her. Now, I need you to call Bruce and Alfred and make sure they don't try to move any of the rubble. Let them know we are fine for the moment, but if anything moves it could all crash down on us. I'm going to try to wake Raven, she will be able to get us out of here." Robin told him, giving his orders.

Cyborg nodded, "Right, Cyborg Out."

Robin hung up and tried to call Starfire next, her communicator was offline, it must have been broken in the explosion. He sighed.

"Okay Raven, time to wake up," Robin said out loud before focusing his mind, closing his eyes he felt for her mind. Ever since she came into his when he was hallucinating he could feel her mind. They had a slight connection, but a connection. He was hopeful he could use this to wake her up. He felt the dark familiarity that was Raven's mind and used his mind to probe it. "Raven, you must wake up. I need you. Starfire needs you. Beast Boy needs you." He felt her shudder, it was working, "Raven, that's it, wake up. WAKE UP!" Robin screamed at her mind.

Raven's eyes shot open as she sucked in a gasp of breath.

"Easy Raven, easy. Please don't move. We're stuck under the roof of the manor. You've been impaled, but you'll be fine." Robin told her.

"Azar, it hurts." Raven told him, "What happened?"

Robin sighed, "The Joker blew up Wayne Manor. I don't know what's happened, but the sounds of fighting stopped, I can only assume the Joker got what he wanted. I need you to get us out of here. Can you open up a portal below us, drop us into the Batcave. "

Raven nodded, a portal opened and the floated slowly down to the ground in the batcave. Raven placed Dick in the seat of the Bat computer. "Computer, access code RG04, show me the last hour of camera footage outside the front of the manor. Also call Batman."

The Batcomputer complied and pulled up footage while Batman's face showed up on the other screen. "Dick, you're okay." Batman told him stoically.

"I'm hard to kill." Dick responded, "Raven was able to get us down into the batcave. What's the damage?"

"Still finding out." Batman told him.

"What do we know so far?" Dick asked him using the most stern voice he could.

"Dick, I'm handling it," Batman told him coldly.

"God damnit Bruce this isn't a fucking game. My team is involved in this." Dick told him fiercely.

"Dick, you are in no shape to go after him." Batman told him.`

"How many of my team?" Dick asked him.

"Dick you will not go after them, I will handle this. It was wrong of me to get any of you involved." Batman told him.

"They are my responsibility. Who does he have. He has her, but who else." Dick asked sharply.

Batman finally relented and "He has Starfire, Beast Boy, and Kid Flash."

Dick felt Raven's anguish and several lights blew up. He himself felt considerable anguish. "Where did he take them?" Dick asked.

Bruce sighed, "Alfred and Jason have some of the men, we will be interrogating them shortly."

"Let me know what they find out." Dick killed the link and turned to Raven.

"Robin, that monster, he has Starfire, Kid Flash, and...and Beast Boy" Raven stuttered out, trying to restrain her emotions. She was having trouble containing them though. Items in the batcave were levitating, covered in her black power. Tears dripped from her eyes.

Robin painstakingly moved to her, he weakly grabbed her shoulders. "Raven!" He called to her calmly, but with authority in his voice. Raven immediately snapped to attention. "Raven, they are going to be okay. You and I are going to save them. In order to do that, I need you to heal us both. I need you to do that now."

Raven shook her head, "Dick, I sensed your mind you didn't want to come back. You were ready to throw in the towel. You know how painful it was going to be in small doses. You want me to do it all now?"

"He took the choice away from me. There is no longer a choice. He has members of my team. He has her. I have to rescue her." Dick told him.

Raven shook her head, "Dick, you don't understand the pain you're going to endure."

Dick smiled at her, "It doesn't matter anymore. Raven do it, now. That's an order."

Raven nodded, "Fine then. AZARATH METRION ZINTHOS" Ravens eyes lit up with her demonic power.

"ARGHHHH"
