I feel this is more of a rant, not really a story. These are observation's regarding Nick, his relationship with Juliet and his relationship with Adalind. If you haven't read my work before, I will warn you there is a lot of love for the relationship between Nick and Adalind.

Nick's friends couldn't help make comparisons on the differences between how he had been with Juliet and how he was with Adalind.

The biggest one being that Adalind didn't seem afraid to be affectionate with Nick in front of people.

Adalind just made it very obvious how much in love with Nick she was.

Juliet had always seemed to hold back, as if she hated anyone knowing she wanted Nick.

The biggest difference that Nick couldn't help but see, was that he had to always reassure Juliet that he wanted her. But if she felt afraid in any way or unsure about his devotion, she would distance herself.

Juliet had to be in control of the relationship to make herself feel safe in it.

At the time, Nick had understood and was willing to do any and everything to make her happy.

But with Adalind, Nick finally understood just how unstable his relationship with Juliet had been.

When Adalind got insecure about the bond she and Nick had, she got more affectionate. As if she was reasserting her claim.

If Juliet had a moment of jealousy, she would become angry with Nick, and deny him any affection or physical contact, even if he had in no way contributed to whatever it was that had made her upset.

With Adalind, a moment of jealousy had her erasing any and all distance between Nick and herself.

She would be so passionate, that Nick would barely be able to remember his own name, let alone even think about any other woman.

Nick was not the cheating type, and Adalind seemed to understand that, crystal clear. She was not a woman who would give up the man she loved without a fight. And her way of fighting was by making her man know that he had all the loving he would ever need with her and that he need not ever look anywhere else.

Some of Nick's friends felt a little guilty to admit it, even silently to themselves, but it just seemed like Adalind loved Nick more than Juliet did. It also seemed obvious that Nick just seemed happier more often with Adalind, than he had ever been with Juliet.

Eve noticed a difference too. She remembered how Nick used to look at her and she couldn't help compare it to the way he now looked at Adalind.

There was more fire in that stare. More tenderness. More affection. More passion.

More love.

Every emotion Nick had held in his eyes when he looked at Juliet was magnified a hundred times when he gazed at Adalind.

All that he felt for the mother of his child was far more intense than anything he had felt for anyone else.

The love Nick had for Juliet was a candle flicker compared to the raging infernal he held for Adalind.

The part of Juliet that still resided within Eve felt guilt for not appreciating what she had. For not seeing how amazing Nick's love for her was.

The pain she had caused him time and again. All the times she had pushed him away just to make him prove he loved her. She had taken him for granted, and now, another woman was receiving all of that unrelenting love and devotion.

And it was obvious Adalind had no intention of making the same mistakes Juliet did.

The only people Adalind would put before Nick were her children.

But no one could blame her for that.

Adalind made it clear again and again that she wanted to be with Nick. That she loved Nick. Not once did she try to hide it or claim any difference. She wanted Nick.

The difference between Nick's relationship with Juliet and his relationship with Adalind was obvious in another way. Nick no longer had to worry about being perfect.

Juliet would sometimes make Nick feel like he had to earn her love. Earn the time he got to have with her.

Loving Juliet had felt like another one of his responsibilities. Like his career as a detective and his duty as a grimm.

Loving Adalind felt like a reward. After dealing with so much hardship and darkness, he got to fall into her warm and loving arms.

Monroe and Rosalee had noticed Nick was different with Adalind from how he had been with Juliet.

Being in a relationship with Adalind, Nick just seemed more relaxed.

Maybe it was because it always seemed like Juliet was never as all in her relationship with Nick and wanted him to continually prove he was worthy of her.

When Juliet and Nick were in public, she would keep a little distance between them. As if she wanted to avoid any public displays of affection.

Adalind was not like that at all. She always wanted to hug Nick, kiss him and encouraged him to have his arm around her.

Juliet always shied away if Nick tried to wrap his arms around her in front of people.

It seemed Adalind was unafraid to show the world that she and Nick were together, but Juliet had been.

And that was why all of Nick's friends felt like Adalind just loved Nick more than Juliet ever did.

Monroe was the one to see it first. The warmth in Nick's eyes whenever he looked at Adalind. And the way Adalind looked at Nick, like he was the greatest thing to ever happen to her.

The blutbad couldn't help but compare the ways Juliet and Adalind looked at Nick. And Juliet had never looked at Nick with the intensity Adalind did. She certainly didn't gaze at Nick like he was the best thing that ever happened to her.

Oh, she had looked at Nick like he was wonderful. That was for certain. But Juliet had never held so much intensity and passion when she looked at Nick, the way Adalind always did.

Rosalee had never heard Juliet talk about Nick, the way Adalind did.

When Juliet spoke about Nick, it had always been a conversation on how she and Nick had found a compromise in their lives when dealing with a problem.

When Adalind said Nick's name, it was always filled with a great deal of affection. She would talk of Nick being a hero. Or how sweet and attentive he was.

When conversations about their men rose up, Adalind held the same level of love for Nick, that Rosalee had for Monroe.

Juliet had not.

Rosalee had always heard a matter of fact tone regarding Nick coming from Juliet. But when Adalind spoke of Nick, it was always with reverence and awe. As though the blonde considered the grey eyed man to be truly extraordinary.

Hank noticed that Nick seemed more relaxed in his relationship with Adalind than he had been with Juliet. Juliet seemed to have always filled Nick with doubt. Adalind gave Nick confidence and assurance.

Monroe and Rosalee couldn't help but think back to when Nick was new to the grimm thing and how he thought to keep his grimm world separate from his human one.

Nick hadn't wanted to involve Juliet. Claiming he wanted to protect her. But the wesen couple wondered if maybe Nick knew Juliet really wasn't the woman for him. Knew that she wasn't really meant to be a part of the world he found himself in.

With Adalind, love and passion seemed to rise so much faster. It was almost instantaneous, the affection that grew between them.

The same could definitely not be said of the relationship between Nick and Juliet.

Perhaps ultimately, the biggest difference between Nick's relationship with Juliet and his relationship with Adalind was that there were two people fighting for the second.

Nick had been the one constantly placating Juliet. Constantly assuring her he wanted to be with her. He had even agreed with her when she suggested they not find a way to get his grimm powers back.

Even though he had felt like a major part of himself was missing, even though the abilities had helped him save so many, he was willing to make that sacrifice for the woman he loved.

But when Nick needed time to adjust to Juliet being a hexenbiest, she couldn't give it to him.

He had wanted to suppress her powers only because she was extremely violent. She wanted to kill his unborn child. She burned down the trailer containing centuries of his family legacy. She got his mother killed. She had sided with the royals against her friends.

When Adalind had joined Black Claw, it was only to be reunited with her daughter. And while she was with them, she had gotten word to Nick to assure him that she loved him and was trying to protect him.

Nick always remembered what Henrietta had said, when she had used her magic to entrance him and take a kiss. A powerful hexenbiest would be able to get what she wanted.

If Juliet had really wanted Nick, she would have found a way to make him accept her. But instead, she had chosen to hurt him in every way that she could.

Adalind had never hesitated to let Nick know she wanted him or that she was willing to fight for them.

Life would always be chaotic for Nick. Being a detective and a grimm meant he faced danger on a daily basis.

But when it came to his love life, the life he had with Adalind, it was peaceful and perfect.
