It was Hermione Granger's last year at Hogwart's School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, her 7th year; and she was already half a month into it.
She was currently in the dining hall with her three best friends: Ron Weasley, Harry Potter, and Ginny Weasley.
Hermione wasn't really aware that a large raven-black owl had landed in front of her until it had splashed some of her water on to her robes.
A black owl was rarely seen on the school grounds, so a hushed silence filled the hall, and she was receiving curious stares.
Eventually, most of the glances turned back to their friends.
"Hermione, aren't you going to open it?" Ron's words cut the tension in the air.
Please, oh please! Don't let it be what I think it is!
Harry's hard nudge sent her out of her stupor. "Hermione?" A concerned look.
With slightly shaking hands, she took the message from the impatient owl, now pecking at her hands to be fed.
Ginny: "What does it say? And who's it from? Viktor?"
She unrolled it and read what it said:
