Previously on You Should've Left it Alone:

"Can you smell them?" He asked Jared. Jared looked at him confused. "It's alright son. I know. Billy told me last night. So can you smell these son's of bitches?" He asked. Jared shook his head. "No, the door was open, so their scents are gone." Charlie groaned as he looked around once more, hoping to see anything. "Who would want to do this? Bella never did anything to anybody.." Something dawned on Jared then, and he stalked past Charlie and outside.

Charlie followed him confused. "Let's just get to the hospital or I'm going to kill someone." He snapped, getting into the cruiser passenger seat. Charlie still had the thing running. He closed the front door and got into the cruiser, turning the siren on, peeling out of the drive way.

Chapter 3: Transform

If Charlie had it in him, "Forks Chief of Police Murdered Tribe Leader" would be plastered on the front page of every newspaper in town. Once he realized the lengths to which the man would go to in trying to eliminate his daughter, he was in father mode. "We need the proof. That phone needs to be searched, those men need to be found, I have some work to do." Charlie stated.

Jared was quiet as he sat next to Bella. He was deep in thought, his eyes calculating. "Are they really going to let you investigate? I know who's behind this. I can take care of this." Jared states, slowly removing his hand away from the tube. Charlie shook his head, his eyes angry. "No, you're only a kid. I can't let you do that." Jared glared at the hospital gown in disdain. "Charlie I turn into a gigantic dog, I haven't been a kid in the last two years. I hunt vampires and one of my main enemies is one my tribal elders who has a racist vendetta against you, your daughter; my soul mate. Killing him is the least of my worries. You just do what you can and find the people that did this." Jared walked out of the hospital room, his shaking barely contained.

"You left evidence!" The older man snapped. The man took off his mask, his brown hair slowly falling around his face. "And?" He asked carelessly. Old Quil growled, a sound that made the man raise a brow. "Dude... you actually think I give a shit about what evidence we left behind? You've got me confused. You didn't do your work on me did you?" He asked, letting out a deep laugh. "What the fuck are you talking about?" Old Quil yelled, lowering his voice as people walked past the alley. The man laughed loudly. "I double cross old man. Your money can't come out of my bank account. You can't pin me on shit, you know why?" The man leaned forward.

"I left the stink of you everywhere. I mean I could have killed her, but she ain't do shit. That Swan chick? Daddy a cop. She wasn't in no trouble. I kill for a reason. You made me go against my morals you shit." He leaned against the wall. "I can see it in your head. You want to kill me. Snap my neck and every piece-" The quiet snap was deafening as Old Quil dropped the body to the ground, and stepped over it, grabbing his cane. He whistled tunelessly.

The blood was still flowing through his body as it laid lifelessly on the ground, the small chip inside his neck disconnecting from the system that he and his boys set up.

Billy glanced at the current pack with concern. "He's...going to transform soon. I see the signs. He's close." Sam chewed on his lip. "How is it possible? We can't just kill him. That's not how it works." Billy nodded glancing at Jared. "You will need to bring forth the transgression against him, and the rest of the council will sign off on it. From there you will have to fight Old Quil as man and wolf. You must kill the wolf." Silence dawned on the young boys. "Killing the wolf will kill the man. If you lose..and you die...Bella will fall shortly after, if he doesn't get to her first." Jared nodded, twitching. He knew the man was strong for his age. The wolf maybe even stronger, but Jared had something to fight for.

Forks Police Department

Officer David Collins stared at the computer in disbelief. "Um, hey, somebody take a look at this. Someone is uploading the text messages from that phone into our database. Holy shit..." The computer scrolled through lengths and lengths of records, text messages, phone calls, plans, names, addresses. "I think that's someone from the LaPush Reservation. Would you like me to call the Chief?" One of the rookies asked. Collins shook his head. "I'll head up to the hospital and tell him. This isn't something that needs to be told over the phone." He grabbed his jacket, and walked outside.

The computer sat innocently, still pages upon pages of information being uploaded.

Charlie played the part well, emotions flowing across his face. He glanced at Bella who was still in a deep sleep. The doctor was removing the tube, as all the internal bleeding was cleared. "She'll be out for a few days, her body and mind is healing. It was a traumatic experience." Charlie nodded, leaning close to her bed.

Charlie's phone dinged, a notification from his bank notifying him of a transfer of money. "David. How much money was paid for this job?" David racked his brain with a shrug. "I don't know. A lot. Why?" Charlie showed David his phone with a raised brow. "Like this?" He asked. David nodded. "Who's dong this and why?" He asked. Charlie shook his head. "Only Old Quil will know. Is somebody tracking the signal?" Charlie asked. David pulled out his phone. "We may need the FBI on this Chief." Charlie hummed, smoothing one of Bella's eye brows down. "Do whatever needs to be done."

David left, dialing the number that's been committed to memory. He moved to the side as a tan man came in, with a man in a wheelchair.

Billy pointed towards the hospital room where the officer just came out of, and Sam pushed him on in. Charlie opened his mouth and Billy could see the fire in his best friend's eyes. "Wait. I know what you're going to say. Why was the officer here? How's Bella?" He fired off. Charlie looked at him with a tight face, but indulged in his friend. "That was officer David, he's calling the FBI. Whatever Old Quil did, it's leaking into our database. They're tracking the signal." He stated. "Bella will be fine. They missed major arteries which seemed to be on purpose. A large sum of money was deposited into my account not that long ago. It was the money that was given to kill Bella." Billy cocked his head to the side. "So whoever's doing this is telling the truth about what happened? Why?" Charlie shrugged. "Hell if I know. What are you here for?" Billy made a sound in his throat. "You're not going to like it, but you can't open an investigation." Charlie blinked, once, twice, then three times. "Excuse me?" He asked. "Why would you ask me of this? That son of a bitch deserves to rot." He snapped standing. Billy nodding holding his hands up. "I know and he does, but when something like this happens, we have a law and that law is death. Jared must fight and kill him." Charlie sat down, a quiet sigh leaving him.

"If Jared dies, so will Bella, and if such should happen, god forbid, you can reopen the investigation." Charlie ran a hand though his hair. "There's already evidence proving such acts." He stated. Sam shook his head, glancing at Billy. "You're going to have to get rid of it." Charlie glanced down at Bella, grasping her hand. "Billy I could lose my job..." Charlie trailed off. Billy rolled towards Charlie with a frown on his face. "I can make sure this doesn't get back to you." He promised.

AN: I know this is short. This is where I wanted it. I plan on breaking this down in five chapters, only because the way I want it, doesn't require much storytelling. A quick note: Of Men and Iron is being revised again and I will have something up soon or by the first of the new year. I just felt like I started off at a point where I couldn't continue. I might try to have a few chapters up by Christmas.

Thanks for your patience xo
