"The Cat God"

Please enjoy and review!

"Who is that?" Fred asked as everyone stared at the woman in awe.

Glancing over to the group of humans, the werecat dressed in a white dress and gold jewelry gave a small smile.

"I am Bast." The woman informed.

Recognizing the name, Velma gasped in shock, unable to believe the sudden turn of events.

"She's the cat god." Velma exclaimed.

Stunned at seeing their god standing before them in person, Lena and Simone were quick to drop to their knees and Jacques followed their example, knowing he had no other choice.

"Mighty Bast, we are honored by your visit." Simone praised.

The gentle expression of Bast's face quickly morphed into an expression of anger and disgust as she turned her attention ontot he three brown furred werecats.

"Keep your vile mouth shut! How dare you defile the gifts I bestowed upon you!" Bast glared.

She spoke softly, but her voice had so much power and conviction in it that it sounded like she was shouting and they could feel the cave quake.

"Like, this won't end well." Shaggy whispered.

Scooby whimpered as he ducked behind Beau, hding from the enraged god while the cats all remained silent as they stared at Bast.

Daphne had taken this pause in the fight to rush over to Davey and pulled the girl into a hug, wanting to comfort her cousin after the ordeal she had gone through.

Sighing in relief, Davey hugged her back while Veemon stood in front of the two females protectively while Velma made her way over to the men.

"But…I don't understand." Simone stuttered.

"You were never meant to kill anyone. For two-hundred years I have watched you destroy innocent lives and become more evil. And now, you have forced my gift onto a someone with a pure soul and were going to force her into becoming a killer. You have brought shame onto me and my people. You will all be punished for your crimes." Bast stated.

"Punished? But we only did what we had to to survive!" Lena insisted.

"I never told you you had to drain the life from people to live. You came to that conclusion yourselves. Well, no more." Bast said and her eyes glowed.

Raising her paws, she sent out a blast of light that hit Lena, Simone and Jacques, returning them to their human forms and the trio screamed at having their powers stripped from them.

Once the ordeal was done, they dropped to the ground, weak and falling unconcious.

"You will all live and die as normal humans. And I am sure these humans will ensure that you will pay for your crimes justly." Bast said as she glanced over Mystery Inc.

The cats all meowed loudly and seemed to be cheering for their god as she turned and made her way over to Davey, Daphne and Veemon who stared up at her in worry.

Daphne tightened her arms around her cousin protectively and stared up at Bast who met her gaze and gave an amused smile.

"Calm yourself, my dear. I will not harm your cousin." She assured.

"You can't blame us for thinking that after everything that happened here." Veemon spoke up.

Bast gave a nod of her head in understanding before she then met Davey's eyes.

"As for you, young one, you are pure of heart and soul. You may keep this gift that was bestowed upon you." Bast smiled down at her.

That statement shocked everyone as they stared at the god and Cherry mewed happily as she made her way over to join her new friends.

"What? But…won't I be like them?" Davey asked.

"Of course not, my dear. You do not possess any evil in your soul. You are what my followers were originally like." Bast told her.

Pulling out of her cousin's protective embrace, Davey stood up and walked over to Bast and was stunned to see how tall the god was since she towered over her.

She had to have been over 6 feet tall.

"Thank you, but… I don't want this. I don't think I have a need for this power." Davey said hoping she didn't offend her.

Giving the girl an amused expression, Bast leaned forward and gently cupped her chin and Davey's eyes grew wide as she stared into the bright green orbs of the god.

They were filled with a warmth and kindness that took her by surprise.

Bast wasn't the first god she had met, but there was something about her that was so different compared to Azulongmon.

Perhaps it was because she was a god of the Earth and not from the Digital World.

"Are you sure? You are a Chosen Child, after all. You are a warrior that has battled countless forms of evil. My gift may be of help to you and your friends if evil ever raised its vile head once again." Bast told her.

Davey's eyes grew wide in shock, confused on how Bast knew about her being a DigiDestined and what she had done.

"She kind of has a point there. Also, I think the cat ears and tail look really cute on you." Veemon grinned up at her.

Looking down at Veemon and seeing the honesty in his eyes, Davey smiled at him.

Remebering all of the times Veemon had rushed to her side to help her and protect her from danger, Davey thought over how she may be able to help her partner in fights.

"Will I be stuck looking like this forever? Because I'm gonna get a lot of weird looks walking around with cat ears and a tail." Davey said.

Bast chuckled and the sound made everyone feel warm and comforted.

"Of course not. You can turn it off and on whenever you want. Those defilers were unaware of this because they tainted their gifts. They turned it into a curse, but you can see it as the gift it truly is." Bast told her.

Thinking it over, Davey then glanced around her at her friends and cousin who all seemed to be smiling at her in support which made her feel better.

She was a bit confused on why the zombies were simply standing around and watching what was about the happen, but she shrugged it off for the moment.

"Then…I'll keep this…gift. It could come in handy someday." Davey decided.

Smiling, Bast leaned forward and placed a kiss to her forehead and Davey was covered in a green light, returning to her human form, but she could still feel the power flowing through her body.

With that taken care of, Bast then turned her attention onto the zombies that had gathered around.

"Lost souls, your suffering has ended. You are no longer bond to this island. You are free and can finally cross over." Bast commanded.

Green light swept through the cave and the zombies all groaned as they fell to the ground, their skeletons and clothing covering the area as their souls left.

"Zoinks! Like, what's happening to them?" Shaggy asked as they watched the green lights dancing on the wind above them.

"Their spirits have been avenged, Shaggy. Now they can finally rest in peace." Velma explained.

With her task finished, Bast then smiled at the Mystery Inc group and bowed her head at them.

"Be safe all of you. Many more adventures await you." Bast informed.

Her words confused the group as they wondered what she meant.

Bast's body glowed as she disappeared from the cave leaving everyone to stare at the room and process what they had just witnessed while Simone, Lena and Jacques were still sleeping.

"I don't believe this! And without our video tape, no one else will, either. I have nothing for my show." Daphne complained.

Groaning in disbelief, Davey bent down to scoop up Cherry who had been rubbing against her ankle, purring for attention.

"Yeah, and the police will never believe this story either." Velma said.

"Don't be so sure." Beau spoke up.

Much to everyone's surprise, Beau pulled out a badge making their jaws all drop at the revelation of who the man was.

"I'm Detective Beau Nevil, been working undercover investigating the island disappearances." Beau explained at everyone stared at the NOPD badge.

"That is awesome!" Davey chuckled.

"Jinkies! So that's why you were digging around." Velma realized.

"Yes, ma'am. Just tryng to dig up evidence. Not possitive my supperiors will buy this story though." Beau sighed.

"So, we don't tell them. At least, not the full truth." Veemon said.

Making confused noises, everyone turned to look at the Digimon who had a thoughtful look on his face.

"Like, what are you talking about?" Shaggy asked.

"Well, that story Simone told us. about how she and these guys are voodoo users? We can use that to our advantage. She said they've been doing this for 200 years. We just have to tell everyone that they're descended from a group of voodoo practioners who worshiped a cat god and have been luring people to this island for years, stealing their money and sacrificing them. I mean, it's pretty close to the truth and it's also a way to hide the supernatural stuff that happened here." Veemon explained.

Everyone was silent for a moment as they took in the plan that Veemon had just formed and the group all started to smile as they realized that this was what was best.

"Bast did say that she wanted those three to pay for their crimes. Locking them in jail seems the right way to do it." Davey concluded.

"And this island is filled with enough evidence to show that what we tell everyone is the truth." Fred agreed.

"I think this could all work out." Velma grinned.

"And even better, this could be a perfect segment for my show. You wouldn't mind doing an interview for us would you, Beau, uh, Detective Nevil?" Daphne asked.

Seeing how they had no other choice but to go with the plan, Beau agreed.

(The next day…)

After arresting Simone, Lena and Jacques, Beau had called his boss and informed him that he had arrested the people responcible for the disappearances and he would be returning in the morning with them and the witnesses to the crime.

Beau had even found the vial of the drug that Simone and Lena had used on Davey, taking it with him as evidence.

Daphne had allowed Beau to use one of her cameras to snap pictures of the alter and the dead bodies that they had found so he could show them to the rest of the NOPD and he would then return with them to do a proper sweep of the area.

Pleased with how things were going, everyone turned to the house to wash up after their long night of running from zombies and fighting off werecats.

The Mystery gang packed up their bags and retrieved the van from where it had been left out in the woods and they were all relaxing as they watched the sun rise over the bayou.

Daphne and Fred stood on the dock as they watched the sun rise and the birds flying through the early morning sky.

"You know, Fred, with all the zombies and cat creatures gone, this is a pretty romantic spot." Daphne said as she cuddled up into Fred's side.

"Yeah." Fred agreed.

Over by the ferry, Beau and Velma were talking as the detective helped her onto it.

As for Davey, she was relaxing on the ferry, sitting in a chaise with Cherry curled up in her arms while Veemon and a few others cats were resting on her lap.

Feeling worried about what would happen to the cats since they would have no one on the island to feed them or take care of them anymore, Davey rounded them all up and brought them onto the ferry and they all eagerly followed her.

She was going to ask some of her friends if they felt like adopting some of them.

"The bayou casts a spell all its own and no matter how hard you try to solve its mysteries, it always keeps something hidden." Beau said.

"Oh, that was beautiful, Detective Nevil. There's a bit of a poet in you." Velma teased.

Humbling laughing at what she told him, Beau waved his hand at her words.

"I don't know about that, ma'am. But I would like to write detective stories some day." Beau informed.

"Jinkies! I've always been crazy about a good detective…story that is. I even own my own mystery book store." Velma told him.

"No kidding!" Beau exclaimed in interest.

"They'd make a cute couple." Veemon commented.

Davey giggled at that as she laid back and enjoyed the beautiful view and lovely breeze that blew around them.

Hearing an engine running, they glanced over to find Shaggy driving the Mystery Machine onto the dock and Velma glanced inside.

"Where's Scooby?" She asked.

"He's picking a pack of peppers. For the road." Shaggy laughed.

Scooby was standing by the bushes that had peppers growing on them holding a basket in his mouth.

He was picking as many as he could, filling with basket to the very top.

"Hurry up, Scoob! We're pulling out!" Shaggy called over to the dog.

"Okay!" Scooby called and began making his way over.

Beau, Velma, Daphne and Fred walked onto the boat and Shaggy drove the Mystery Machine on board.

Beside the ferry was Snakebite's boat and he was smiling as he finally managed to catch Big Mona, scooping her up in his net while a pleased Mojo watched.

The gate began to rise which made Scooby break into a sprint so he could quickly jump on it, but he back paw got stuck on the dock.

His front paws were gripping onto the boat and Veemon rolled his eyes as he jumped down and helped pull Scooby free, making both of them cry out as they rolled onto the deck.

The noise they made caught the attention of Snakebite and Mojo, making them glance over and distracted them long enough for Big Mona to jump out of the fishing net and escape.

"Darn tourists!" Snakebite crused as Mojo sulked.

"Ranks." Scooby said to Veemon.

"Don't worry about it." Veemon patted the dog on his head before returning to where Davey and the cats were resting.

Shaggy then walked over holding two sandwhiches in his hands.

"Look what I've got for you, old buddy. We're finally going to have a nice peaceful meal." Shaggy said as he handed one of the sandwhiches over to Scooby.

Eagerly licking his lips, Scooby took the sandwhich and added a few peppers from his basket to it add more flavor.

Just as he was about to take a bite, he heard meowing.

Looking down nervously, he found some of the cats staring at him, meowing hungrily as their eyes glowed yellow.

"Raggy, rats. Rikes!" Scooby gulped.

Davey could be heard laughing in amusement as she watched on, her own eyes flashing an amber color as she kissed the top of Cherry's head.

The end.
