"We want the miraculous!" Manon shouted, moving the dolls of Lady Wifi and Puppeteer around in the air. Honestly, it was hilarious as well as disturbing just how much Manon adored that particular doll.
Marinette snickered. "You're not going to get us!" she responded for Ladybug and Chat Noir.
"Yes we are!" Manon replied, large smile on her face. "We're gonna win!"
Marinette jokingly chased Manon around the room, both of them making fighting sounds as the dolls clashed time and time again.
Finally, it came to a head when Marinette knocked Puppeteer out of Manon's hands. "We won!" she made Ladybug say. "Good job, Milady," she forced Chat to say.
Marinette then looked down at Manon to ensure she was all right with losing. Recently, she had been perfectly fine with it. She knew Ladybug and Chat Noir always had to win. And winning came with relinquishing her rights to play with Ladybug and Chat Noir; something she was perfectly fine with as long as she could play with Puppeteer. Under one condition…
She still got a say in what Ladybug and Chat did.
"Now kiss!"
Marinette nearly dropped the dolls. "W-what?" she asked shakily.
"Ladybug and Chat Noir. Make them kiss!"
Marinette's heart started to pound just a little bit harder in a panic. She forced a smile even though she wanted cringe. "Why would they do that, Manon?"
The six-year-old's face fell just a little bit. "Because Mama always calls them a pair. That means their together, right?"
"Not necessarily," Marinette explained. "They could just be a pair of friends."
Manon's face fell even more at that. "But…but they always look so happy together."
Oh no. Marinette cringed as she saw the baby doll eyes begin to form. But this revolved around her—no, Ladybug's relationship with Chat Noir. She could resist the baby doll eyes. She could. "They are best friends and partners, Manon. Of course they are happy together."
"But doesn't that mean they'll get married?"
Marinette choked. Coughing to cover it up, she forced herself to keep smiling even though it was likely more of a grimace at this point. "No, Manon. They could just be the best of friends forever."
There was the pout. No baby doll eyes yet. But they were coming. "So…they aren't going to get married?"
Marinette steeled her resolve. "No."
Then came the eyes. "But that's sad!"
No. No tears. Marinette cringed. Uh-oh. She felt herself being split in two ways. One screaming that Ladybug could not marry Chat Noir. The other half of her, though, just wanted to submit to the little girl's wishes so that she wouldn't feel like a horrible person for making a little girl cry for stepping on her hopes and dreams.
In the end, Marinette was weak and the baby doll eyes won out. "I guess it's make-believe, right? I suppose the Chat Noir and Ladybug dolls could get married if you want."
Now nothing but smiles, Manon reached for Ladybug. "Yay!"
Happy to have appeased the young girl, Marinette handed over Ladybug.
"I love you, Chat Noir."
Marinette didn't know if her expression was a smile or a cringe. Was it too late to crush Manon's imagination? Because she wasn't sure she could handle playing wedding with Chat Noir and Ladybug.
"Can you make a dress for Ladybug, Marinette?"
Nope. There definitely wasn't any way she was going to make it out of this alive. "H-how about we just pretend?"
"Okay."
A/N: Don't let me stalk Pinterest. I find funny memes that lead to one-shots. Such as one of a mortified Marinette when Manon tells her to make the Ladybug and Chat Noir dolls to kiss.
