For Hiruzen Sarutobi the day could be considered a rather plain one. He woke up early in the morning, went into his office, sat down and began to waste away doing the paperwork that allows Konoha to prosper as it had been for the last few years, especially after the debacle that had been befallen onto Konoha with the Kyuubi incident over a decade ago.

Regardless, the aged shinobi was looking forward towards the day, his back wasn't aching, and he hadn't been called in even earlier in the morning due to a supposed shinobi mission gone wrong and yet… The moment he entered his office he felt his head hammer him with a headache, as if trying to warn him of an impending migraine.

Sitting down at his office and reviewing the papers scattered along his desk, Hiruzen fought off the sigh that was trying to make its way out of his mouth as he glanced up towards the corner of his office.

"Anbu commander dragon, what can I do for you?" Muttered Hiruzen, getting a small smirk from the commander as he made himself stand front and centre.

The anbu commander was as mysterious as they came. No one aside from the aged Hokage knew who it was behind the man's dragon mask. Hell, due to the cloak the individual covered themselves in day in and day out, not much features could be identified either, leaving the man's identity entirely concealed, including to those of the Hyuga clan whom of which noted that special fuinjutsu seals were scattered along the cloak, preventing their "all seeing" eyes from finding out the man's identity by chance.

Waving his hand, the commander tried to ease the aged Hokage's very noticeable headache, due to the whole "twitching and or pulsing" vein going off his forehead.

"Nothing much Hokage-sama… I was just wondering if I could have a conversation with you regarding a single shinobi is all." Remarked the man, getting a tired sigh from Hiruzen as he waved the commander to sit down across his desk, something which the grey cloak wearing individual did.

Watching the man relax in the seat, Hiruzen could already faintly think of a list of possible shinobi's his commander could be wanting to talk to him about, regardless however, he waited for his commander to speak his mind.

Seeing that Hiruzen wasn't going to start the conversation, and assuming he was waiting for him to talk, Dragon crossed his hands in his lap as his eyes, hidden beneath his mask, focused intently on his leaders gaze.

"The shinobi in question that I wanted to talk to you is about one Naruto Uchiha." Finished the man, getting a raised brow from Hiruzen as he continued to stare at his commander.

"Oh? And what of young Naruto do you wish to speak about?" Asked Hiruzen, his tone of voice even and mixed with mild curiosity as he found himself correct in his list of potential candidates Dragon wanted to talk to him about.

Seeing his leader trying to humour him, Dragon simply shook his head in mirth before refocusing his gaze on the old Kage.

"I wish to speak about his potential Hokage-sama and how it would be better placed elsewhere rather than being a standard Genin doing chores." Remarked Dragon, watching intently as his leader simply shrugged his shoulders as he gave his Anbu a stare.

"By chores you mean having protected Diane-sama no more than a month ago? What about when said Genin was then later required to help the Nara clan clear their forests of all the wild bears that suddenly decided to appear? On top of the fact that, the same Genin, has been situated on routine Chunin patrols due to the recommendations of Raido, Genma and Iwashi from said mission to protect Diane-sama? I agree that between all these situations young Naruto has had to do what is expected of him as a rookie Genin, however even then he seems to go above and beyond what is expected of him, as when he managed to complete over 5 different D – rank missions in a single day. Iruka had to notify me that, due to the rate of which Naruto was completing the mission's he had to limit the young man to only two a day at most. So explain to me Dragon, how you believe that he should be placed elsewhere?" Asked the aged leader, his eyes firm as he watched his commander simply raise his hand.

Lifting up a finger, the dragon masked Anbu simply gave his leader a dry stare.

"1. Yes, Naruto Uchiha was selected to help protect Diane-sama. Something that he went above and beyond what was expected of him, mainly due to his ability to defeat a very strong shinobi. But then again, he was only placed on that mission due to Diane-sama's insistence. Should she have not wanted him to go, and had he been weaker than what he was, the outcome of such an event could have been completely different." Muttered Dragon, his eyes watching as Hiruzen gave him that point as even after Diane's insistence, he was hesitant to place a Genin on such a high priority mission.

Lifting up a second finger, Dragon continued.

"2. The routine Chunin patrols you have placed him in have seen to limiting how much training the young shinobi can gain. Whilst yes he is learning about the responsibilities of Chunin, he himself is unable to properly advance his own skills. If memory serves me correctly, Kasumi Uzumaki herself recently has been complaining to you regarding the lack of time she has been able to see her "Naru-kun" as between the Chunin patrols and his obligation of D – ranks, mixed in with his own training, Naruto is basically gone from the village at all times. Be in mind, it is due to the influence the young Uchiha has on Kasumi that has allowed her a solid, and very much health, emotional balance and support that has allowed her to progress as far as she has within the month." Remarked Dragon, getting a small nod from Hiruzen as he could remember just a short while ago when Kasumi burst into his office to complain about her "Naru-kun" never being home.

Regardless, Hiruzen simply raised a brow as he watched his commander lower his hand, waiting for him to speak his own thoughts.

Crossing his fingers together and propping his elbows on his oak desk, the old Hokage simply gave his Anbu a focused stare.

"And what would you have me do? Take Naruto out from the public eye entirely as an Anbu? He is a Genin. A Genin with substantial talent and ability that, along with Kasumi, Sasuke, Sayuri and the rest of the clan heirs, could be the face of Konoha within a few years. When I look at the boy I see someone who has the capabilities of becoming someone of the same skill level as the likes of Minato Namikaze and all the other legends Konoha has produced." Remarked Hiruzen, watching as his Anbu commander twitch ever so slightly at the mention of who he had seen Naruto capable of becoming.

Regardless, he also saw his commander stiffen his shoulders as he too leaned forwards on the desk, his hidden eyes focusing on his Kages own set of bored eyes.

"Exactly Hokage-sama. He has the capability, but at this rate we are squandering his potential. Why wait for five or so years for him to become a truly competent shinobi when he can push him into becoming that same shinobi years earlier? He has shown to understand what being is a shinobi all about. He has the will of fire built into him as he shows love and compassion to his fellow shinobi and citizens, hell people are actually starting to warm up to Kasumi due to his treatment of those around him. Not only is he somehow diminishing the hatred of the people of Konoha to Kasumi, but he has also nearly single-handedly fixed a broken girl whom of which was basically nearly destroyed by the people she has protected since the day the Kyuubi was sealed within her." Spoke Dragon with a cool tone, his voice not displaying the respect he had for the Genin as he watched his Kage give him a nod…

Before utterly crushing whatever else he planned to say.

"Which is why he shall be in the light. Naruto Uchiha, while yes his potential may seem to be limited at the present moment, isn't nothing short of a miracle worker. He in avertedly is fixing a problem myself has had trouble with for over thirteen years. I cannot allow for him to disappear and for the hatred to return to the people's hearts." Finished Hiruzen in a firm tone as he bore his stare at his Anbu.

But even as he did so, he could feel the spark of resistance coming from his commander, a shinobi he had complete trust in.

Regardless, Hiruzen wouldn't lie as he himself was curious as to what his commander would do as a response to his answer.

Safe to say, he didn't expect the man to pull out a form.

"… I will resign as the Anbu commander if we can't come to an accord Hokage-sama…" Remarked Dragon, getting a startled look from the aged leader as even he himself was surprised at the length the shinobi in front of him would go just to get the young Uchiha to join the Anbu.

Deciding to call his bluff the hokage simply held his hand out towards the document.

"Very well. It was an honour having you as my commander. Regardless now, what would you like to do regarding your identity?" Asked the aged Kage, watching intently as his shinobi tilted his head down for a moment before refocusing his gaze.

"I'll be coming clean. I will reveal my identity to the entire shinobi core and situated with whatever rank you decide to place me as." Remarked Dragon, handing his form over to the Hokage.

And as Hiruzen held his commanders resign request, the old hokage had to give his commander the point as he simply shook his head and returned the document, knowing internally that, behind the mask, Dragon was giving him a grin.

Sitting back in his chair, his eyes lazily staring at his Anbu commander for a few more moments, Hiruzen glanced over towards another corner of the room.

"Neko. Find me Naruto Uchiha and bring him here." Grunted the old man with a small sigh as he felt his hidden Anbu member disappear from their post, leaving the Hokage to simply return his gaze towards Dragon.

"What would you like to do Dragon? I will not have him become a permanent member of the Anbu roster, I need him in the light both for the village's sake, but also Kasumi's. Not only that, but with the Chunin exams coming up within a month I would prefer to have my most outstanding Genin there, which I can't do if he's within the Anbu, thus missing a large opportunity to display Konoha's growing strength to prospective clients." Remarked Hiruzen, getting a small shrug from the Anbu as he simply relaxed further into his seat, content that he managed to convince the Kage to give him what he wanted, at least partly.

"Make him an unofficial part-time Anbu. Seal his documents stating his affiliation of being within the Anbu corps and leave the fact that he is a Genin as his official records. Regardless, most people have an idea of his strength, so should his time in Anbu boost his abilities further, most would think that he was simply that good. On top of this, as an Anbu, he gains better access to training facilities and I'm sure that during breaks I, or some of the other Anbu, would be happy to mentor him a bit between his missions between Anbu and Genin. It would also allow you the excuse to send Naruto alone as back up for the other teams as whilst "technically" a Genin, he would be much stronger than an average Chunin… At least from when I run him through the Anbu gauntlet." Replied Dragon confidently, getting a nod from Hiruzen as he mulled the idea a little bit within his head.

"It would allow more C-rank mission's to be handed out to the clan heirs and their Jonin as it would allow me a little bit more insurance that nothing cannot be handled… Very well Dragon, you get the chance to prove this to be a good idea…" Thought Hiruzen, nodding his head.

"Very well Dragon, prove to me that you can use the supposed potential Naruto Uchiha has, we shall see if there has been a significant rise in skill by time he is fully assimilated within his roles as an Anbu/Genin." Finished Hiruzen, getting a nod from Dragon who simply stood himself up and walked over towards the side of the room.

"Thank you Hokage-sama… He should be here soon." Remarked Dragon, happy to note that not a moment after did Naruto appear in a swirl of wind, Neko standing beside him for a moment before returning to their post.

Thanking the Neko masked Anbu internally, Hiruzen ran his eyes over the black haired child for a moment, taking in the sight of curious crimson eyes in stride.

"The amount of power you exert as a Genin is simply amazing… And yet, not sign of arrogance follows you, just confidence and a humbled personality… You will grow far, that I know for sure… However, even I myself wonder what your limits will one day be." Thought the man for a moment as he collected his thoughts before moving his hand towards the seat.

Seeing that he was allowed to take a seat, Naruto slowly made his way over towards the chair before taking a seat, absently noting the Dragon masked Anbu standing in the corner.

Observe [Lvl: 100]

Name: Shisui Uchiha (Dragon)

Rank: Anbu commander

Lvl: 79

"Shisui Uchiha? Wasn't that the guy from my timeline that tried to use Kotoamatsukami on me to deliver his eye to Itachi? Better yet… Didn't Danzo kill him in my timeline?" Thought Naruto in muted silence for a moment before returning his gaze towards his Kage, noting that the man seemed to be giving him a focused stare.

Wondering what was on his leaders mind, Naruto simply continued to keep his mouth shut as he waited patiently for whatever he was summoned for.

Although, his mind did go to the possibility of the elderly Kage sending him off on another Chunin patrol for more "experience".

"Which is "great" as my level's been capped for the last half month." Grumbled Naruto internally, not at all pleased with the fact that he was locked at LVL 40 for over two weeks with the Chunin exams still being a whole month away.

However, before naruto could get further depressed about his lack of ability to proceed further, the Hokage decided to make his thoughts known.

"Naruto. It has come to my attention that a few shinobi see that your progress is getting stagnant due to your responsibilities of being a Genin, alongside having experience sessions on Chunin patrols. Do you believe that to be true?" Asked the old man, getting a look of consideration spread across Naruto's features.

Sitting in his seat, the Genin was honestly surprised at what the Hokage had asked him, truthfully he knew he was level locked so he couldn't actually progress all that much more, regardless of his ability to assimilate stat points from doing actions, but even then it seemed that his points had steadily fallen in how much bonus points he could get, which at the end of the day, left him to level up all of his known skills, which while helpful, were very situation based.

Didn't mean he didn't try max them out.

"Honestly Hokage-sama? While I do feel like I am stagnating training wise, the experience I am gaining following regular Chunin patrols does help me become all the more aware of my capabilities and what actions can do to affect a whole squad. I've also been noting how the villagers seem to be more relaxed the more I help them so it isn't too bad." Replied Naruto, his voice firm with his opinion on the matter, something the Hokage decided to nod about for a moment before falling silent.

Standing himself up and walking over towards the large window at the back of his office, giving him a full sight at Konoha in all its glory, the elder Kage stood there with his hands held behind his back for a few moments, his eyes taking in the sight of thousands of Konoha shinobi and civilians going about their day, enjoying the peace they currently had within the village.

Turning his head back towards Naruto for a moment, Hiruzen beaconed the child over towards him.

Following the Hokage's order, Naruto soon found himself standing beside the old man silently as he calmly just watched all the people going about their day.

"What do you see when you look out this window." Asked Hiruzen, his voice soft but firm as he continued to watch all the things going about in his home, waiting for the young teen's response.

It wasn't long before he felt a smile rise up onto his face as he heard Naruto's answer.

"My family. All the villagers, shinobi and civilian alike being able to enjoy the peace that Konoha has fought so hard to attain. I see children being children, men and women going about life with a look of contention… I however also see that the people that once used to glare hatefully at my adorable little sister slowly changing to that of neutrality, which will soon change to a look of happiness… I see the people I put my life on the line for as a shinobi." Muttered Naruto, his crimson eyes slowly shifting into his sharingan as he took in the sight of all the people in Konoha enjoying their day.

"This child… Looks like Kasumi-chan will have a rival for the Hokage's seat after all… Regardless whether or not he wants it for himself or Kasumi… I think I might have found a possible successor should I live long enough." Thought the man in a happy manner as his eyes focused on the young shinobi.

So enthralled by the sight, Naruto didn't notice the hand on his shoulder, startling him slightly as he saw the old Kage giving him a large smile, eyes crinkling in joy for a few moments before directing him back over towards his table where he sat both Naruto and himself down.

Replacing the look of happiness on his face for one of seriousness, Hiruzen finally made his decision as he stared at the crimson eyed boy.

"Genin Naruto Uchiha. As your Hokage I have a request for you, should you choose to accept it Konoha as a whole will prosper to degrees not seen since the creation of the village. Will you hear my request?" Asked Hiruzen his voice firm and unshaking as his grey eyes bore into Naruto's slightly startled gaze.

That startled gaze soon turned into one of focus and concentration.

"Hai Hokage-sama. What is it that you need?" Asked Naruto, his body and mind ready for whatever his Kage had planned for him.

What he didn't expect however was what the old man asked of him.

"I want you to become a part-time Anbu member with the intent of growing your strength so that one day you may become a candidate of the Hokage seat." Finished Hiruzen, his eyes showing a level of ferocity Naruto hadn't even been privy to see until this very day.

Finding himself lost for words, Naruto blanked at the screen that appeared in his gaze.

Hokage of Konoha

[Do you accept?]

Blinking at the screen for a moment, Naruto returned his gaze back to his Hokage's for a few seconds, his eyes shining slightly as he stared down the elder Kage.

"What would happen should I accept this role Hokage-sama? What does being a part-time Anbu member even mean? And as for the Hokage seat, I truly do believe that Kasumi would be much better." Remarked Naruto respectfully, getting a small smile from Hiruzen as he brought up Kasumi's name.

Keeping his smile, he stared down at the teen sitting across from him.

"What it means Naruto is that unofficially you will be an Anbu member, which in turn allows you access to higher ranking mission's and the ability to learn advanced skill's known only to Anbu. However, you will also still be a Genin, and when you reach the rank of Chunin/Jonin you may decide to continue your stint as a part-time Anbu member or become a member full-time, or alternatively drop from the Anbu program all together. The main goal of this request is to train a shinobi who has the right mentality and the heart to grow into someone who could one day become the Hokage of Konoha, someone who wants to not only protect his loved ones, but the village as a whole. I believe from the bottom of my heart, there is only a few people who could fill that criteria, Kasumi being one of them eventually, but not only do you sit highly on that list, but after hearing your speech about how you see the village, you sit heads and shoulders above the other who can be considered." Remarked Hiruzen, watching as Naruto gave him a small nod as he took in all the information carefully.

Standing up once more and moving over towards the pictures of all the previous Hokage's lined up on the wall, the old man sighed as he looked at the image of the Yondaime Hokage for a moment.

"I'm getting old Naruto. And all the shinobi that could become Hokage don't have either the drive or desire to become it. Sure, should it be required there are a few who can take the mantle… But even then, that's not what I want. I want a shinobi who wants to keep the peace, who wants to protect the small sliver of peace we now have. Kasumi, god bless the child, has her heart in the right place… But isn't at the stage that she truly can comprehend what being the Hokage is about." Muttered Hiruzen, knowing that he had both Naruto's complete attention but also his Anbu commanders.

Turning to face the young shinobi, Hiruzen held his hand out towards the pictures of the Hokage behind him with a smile.

"Will you, Naruto Uchiha, accept my request? Whether or not you become the Hokage will you at least attempt to provide this old man the opportunity to rest knowing that, should the worst before myself, there will be another who has the will to do what it takes to keep Konoha safe." Asked the Hokage, his voice full of vigour as he watched Naruto's eyes shine in determination… Determination that he saw in the eyes of not only Minato Namikaze, but also Hashirama's and Tobirama's from long ago.

Nodding his head, Naruto narrowed his eyes as he felt his blood pumping from the small speech the hokage had given him.

"Hai Hokage-sama! I will accept the request!" Shouted Naruto, his voice strong and full of confidence as he watched the old man look at him in pride, a small smile building along the edges of his lips as he turned his head over towards his Anbu commander.

"Dragon. You may have wanted him to become an Anbu only… But now you will be working on not only allowing young Naruto-kun's potential to grow, but also training him to one day become the Hokage, whether it be the Godaime or Rokudaime." Spoke Hiruzen, getting a nod from Dragon as he let out a small chuckle.

"Hai Hokage-sama. I will make sure that your will and request is completed." Replied the Anbu, his own spirit flaring as he focused on the soon to be part-time Anbu.

Safe to say, even Dragon was impressed at the fire hidden behind the teen's eyes as he stared him down.

This was going to be fun for the man.

Smiling at the outcome of his speech, Hiruzen made his way back over towards his desk before opening a drawer and gazing down lazily at what he saw.

Feeling a small bit of irony at what the mask was, Hiruzen picked up the white masked before handing it over towards Naruto, who quirked an eyebrow in amusement.

Smiling at the teen, Hiruzen watched as the teen slowly raised the mask up to his face.

"Once you wear that mask, you shall be known not as Naruto Uchiha, but as kitsune. When you are ready, send chakra to your face for the mask to stick and Anbu commander Dragon will take you away to begin your initiation." Spoke Hiruzen, getting a nod from Naruto as the moment he placed the mask on, the sight of his crimson eyes shined beneath the mask, the contrast between white and red only highlighting the intensity of his gaze.

Smiling as Dragon placed his hand on the young teen's shoulder, the two disappeared within a blink of the eye, nothing giving away where or how they disappeared.

Returning back towards the windows that allowed him to see the village in all its glory, Hiruzen Sarutobi pulled out his pipe before lighting it up, allowing the Tabaco to filter into his body.

Letting out a resounding sigh, the old man looked out to the village with a smile.

"The village hidden in the leaves has a bright future. Whether that future is created with Naruto as the Hokage or Kasumi, I have no doubt either of them will create a peace not seen before… Hopefully I will be around to witness it." Remarked the Kage, noting he felt a slight bit of discomfort from his Anbu body guards whilst he spoke about his possible death.

While he wouldn't say it out loud, he was thankful his family decided to care about his health.

"Today's the day I take your hat old man!" Screamed a small child, getting a sweat drop from the older man as he saw his grandson laying face first on the ground due to his scarf tripping him.

Somethings never change do they?

[2 weeks later]

It had been two weeks since Naruto had taken on the offer presented to him by the Hokage, one week of pure unadulterated pain and agony. Hell, he thought that the gamer abilities of his would reduce how much pain he felt.

He was wrong. Dam he missed his old body, he could take anything and get up a moment after…

Regardless, the thirteen year old Anbu was now laying down on his bed, still garbed in his Anbu armour and black undershirt/pants with fox mask scattered next to his head as his crimson eyes stared up towards the celling.

"Kami… What the fuck happened to commander Dragon, or rather Shisui Uchiha, to become such a slave driver? Seriously? Who the hell took a dump in his food for a year straight?" Grumbled Naruto internally as he shut his eyes and took in a breath of air softly.

During the fortnight he had been introduced to a whole new range of different skills. Said skills were also levelling up incredibly fast due to the intensity of which he was forced to learn. For example, skill's that he learned on the day? Well…

Just thinking about the skill's hurt the crimson eyed teen as he felt the pain of having his chakra split near constantly as he abused the use of his Shadow clones in co-operation with his sharingan to learn the Taijutsu & Kenjutsu styles, let alone the Ninjutsu and Genjutsu techniques "Dragon" has been teaching him.

Safe to say, at least with him having abuse the shadow clone technique he managed to really strengthen his skill with it, even eventually reducing the cost of the technique and how much damage each clone could handle before it dispelled.

Regardless, the teen was content with his training… At least he was in the skill aspect as he opened his eyes to the sight that greeted him once more above his head.

Name: Naruto Uchiha

Lvl: 40 [Locked]

It seemed that the game didn't count his "part-time" as the full ranking, meaning that, until he became a Chunin officially, he was stuck at this level. Another thing that Naruto noticed was now that no matter what he did, he couldn't not gain another bonus stat point. It just seemed that he ran out of the ability to gain any more strength from that method.

It was regardless of this fact that Naruto simply decided to focus on his skills and abilities. Even after levelling up to level 40, he simply decided that his stats were miles better than most other Chunin, maybe even a few Jonin. As such, when it came to it, the young shinobi spent a most of his accumulated points into his LUK stat, hoping to get a new bonus or something from the stat piece.

Tap… Tap… Tap…

Taking in a shallow breath, Naruto couldn't help but sigh as he heard the tapping from his window. Turning his head to greet the crow that was standing outside his window, the black haired teen moved up off his bed before opening the window, allowing the bird to stick its leg up towards the teen where a small note was easily spotted.

Taking the note and sending the bird off, Naruto rubbed his left eye groggily.

"Now let's see what's on here… Team 7? Wave? ASAP?" Was about as far as Naruto got before his fox mask was over his face as he dashed towards Konoha's front gate.

After all. He only had a day to catch up on the Team that seemed to be in way over their heads.

Hope you enjoyed the chapter.
