Set right after the scene in 8x14 where Anna brings breakfast to Callen's.

Being broken is normal

"I also got croissants", Anna whispered, as they parted.

With a wide smile she started to turn around, but Callen pulled her back into his arms and kissed her even more passionate than before. She gasped surprised but then let herself into the kiss placing one hand on his back and the other one in his hair to pull him as close as possible. The croissants were all forgotten.

"Did you think you could kiss me this way and then just go back to talk about breakfast?", Callen asked smiling as they parted again to breath.

"Actually it was you kissing me, Agent Callen."

"Well, you didn't seem very disappointed by it. Or do you still think we're taking it to fast?"

"Maybe", she said, stroking her hands over his muscular arms, "but I like it."

And then they kissed again. This time it was slower and more gentle then the last kisses.

After the kiss Callen took Anna's hand and led her to the table. They slowly sat down next to each other, not breaking their eye contact. Then the agent looked to the bags of food. Even when he hadn't mentioned it, he was starving. His left hand still locked to hers he took a croissants out of the last bag with his right and started eating.

Anna just watched him, still smiling. A few minutes ago she had felt embarrassed and insecure – feelings that she wasn't really used to – But with him she felt many things she wasn't used to. She didn't know how to put them in words. 'Love' was a word she was afraid of, has been for many years. Because love means boundary, dependence, and in the end always pain. And not only that she loves her independence and freedom, but her real problem was that even if she was used to physical pain she couldn't handle the psychic one as well. That's why she started to build the walls around herself. That's why she worked alone and lived alone for years.

But somehow Grisha Callen had broken through all her walls without even knowing they were there. But maybe he knew. Maybe he was the only one who really understands how she feels, because he feels the same. G. Callen – the lone wolf. She couldn't remember who made this comparison but somehow it fits.

'Being broken is normal' – she remembered their conversation from months ago. But it wasn't normal. They weren't normal. For years no one could see through the facade she had build around herself. But he could and that's what had frightened her. Was he like her? Had he kept walls just like hers until they met and she was the one who didn't realize it? She didn't know. Maybe someday they could talk about it.

But not today. Because there was one thing she did know: Right now she wasn't insecure. She wasn't afraid. Right now she was happy and relieved for the first time in months, maybe even in years. Because being with him felt just right, talking to him felt truer than talking to anybody else and kissing him was the most incredible feeling she had experienced in a very long time. So she just enjoyed watching him. And each time their eyes met, both of their smiles grew wider.

They both were broken. But when they were together it didn't matter. Because together they found a place where being broken is normal, where it isn't a reason to keep distance and hide, but to stay as close as possible and comfort each other.
