A shinny- probably brand new- green mini-van stopped with a squeak in Warriors Middle School parking lot. A red-haired woman stepped out and opened one of the back doors.
"We're here, kids!" she announced happily. A young black haired girl hopped out of the car followed by two boys, her brothers, one with dull, gray-looking brown/black hair and the other with golden blonde hair. The woman with curly red hair reached back into the car just to come back with three backpacks.
"Holly, come get your backpack," she handed the girl named Holly a green and purple zebra striped backpack. She handed the golden haired boy a black backpack.
"Yours Leo," she muttered before handing the other boy his blue backpack. "And yours, Jay." he grunted in thanks as he slung it over his shoulder. Holly fiddled with her backpack's straps as she waited for her brothers.
She grabbed Jay's wrist and narrowed her eyes in frustration as he tucked his hand back to his side. "I can take care of myself," he snapped. She rolled her eyes and took a few steps forward.
"Com'on, schools gonna start in a moment, and we don't want to be late on the first day!"
They walked towards the school and off the parking lot and just as Holly and Leo were about to walk up the steps, Jay stopped.
"These steps are cracked everywhere," he grumbled, kicking a lose stone before walking up. Holly rushed up the steps after her brothers and saw some student waiting outside also. She cautiously walked up to a girl with dirty blonde hair and said,
"Hi!" the girl snapped her head to the side to look at Holly.
"Hello! I'm Cylia!" she replied back, her voice equally friendly. Holly smiled at her. "I'm Holly," she pointed to Leo and Jay who where arguing over something. "-Those are my brothers,"
Cylia laughed and said, "Do they always argue?" she smiled and talked as if they where friends since kindergarten. Holly liked this girl, she very friendly and cheerful, somewhat like a girl she barley knew back in third grade. Holly grinned back at her.
"Yes, all the time, our mom has to break it up all the time," she laughed as she added, "Then afterwards they always seem to get along fine, like one minute they will be fighting over what sports team his better, then like two seconds later they'll be joking around about something,"
Cylia laughed. "Want to introduce me to them?" she suggested.
"Oh, yea," she said and then lead her new friend over to her still arguing brothers. She playfully flicked Leo on the head.
"Hey, guys, before school starts, I want to introduce you to my friend, Cylia." Cylia waved at them and Leo grinned back.
"Jay, Leo, this is Cylia. Cylia, these are my brothers, Jay and Leo." she said and leaned towards her friend before whispering in her ear,
"Just so you know, Jay is blind," she whispered, though she was sure Jay had probably heard because he scowled at her and Cylia giggled.
"Well, hi Cylia!" Leo chirped. She smiled back at him and said, "Hello!"
Just then, the bell rang and all the students flooded through the front doors.
