(Sorry for the late update y'all, I've been in a severe writer's block…and I fear I'm still in it while I write this.)

Death Fury: Thanks.

OfficialUSMWriter: Yeah, Connell wants them prepared and as safe as possible. Hope it doesn't disappoint.

Noble Six: Thanks.

Chapter 26: Of the People

(New York City, unknown location, a few days later)

Connell meditated in his makeshift room. His training with She-Wolf, Mari, Master Long, and Musashi had helped him with being able to accomplish this. For years he had tried to meditate but had never been able to do so. Their wise guidance had aided him in being able to. He always imagined what it would be like to meditate and he wasn't disappointed with how it was. He felt almost at peace. There was a knock at his door.

"*Sighs* Come in," Connell said.

A young man walked in, he had a ram's horns, hooves (for feet), and a boar's teeth.

"Eren has something to report," the man said.

"Thank you, Jackson," Connell replied as he ended his meditation and got up.

"You got it," Jackson said.

Connell had made it a priority to try and know each person who joined the resistance as best he could. Some were harder eggs to crack, but Connell understood. Despite his role as leader, he still was nervous talking to people. Kim and Jacob were too such eggs, but Connell didn't blame them. He walked out of his room and out into the main area where some members were talking, and others were training with Jacob. Jacob nodded to Connell, who nodded back. He walked until he met up with Eren. He stood before a group of young black men and women; arms crossed but with a smile on his face. He turned to look at Connell.

"Hey man," Eren said as he held out his hand.

Connell shook it and nodded to his friend. They ended the handshake.

"I'd like you to meet some brothers and sisters ready to join the fight," Eren said.

"Always good to have more join the resistance," Connell said.

He looked them over. Most were in good or decent shape, others were skinnier or bulkier, and different heights. Some of them looked at Connell with various glances.

"Do you all have any powers?" Connell asked.

They looked at one another with various glances.

"Nah man, we're just human," one man said.

Connell looked them all over, eyes not leaving them for a moment. He then nodded.

"You're in," Connell replied.

The group responded with smiles and looks of surprise.

"Come again?" Another said.

"All species are welcome here: human, mutant, inhuman, etc. We'll get other things sorted out in due time, but for now, go get to know the rest of the group," Connell said.

Some of them shook hands with or smacked hands with Connell. They started mingling and talking with the others there. Eren grinned at Connell.

"You know they're gonna have to be outfitted with something. True, it's a good thing you let them join, but without powers they're vulnerable," Eren said.

"You're right. I've got some ideas, but what were your thoughts?" Connell asked.

"Brothers and sisters have been marching and protesting injustice since the beginning. They'll fight in whatever way they can. All brothers and sisters regardless of gender, race, species, etc. You can count on that," Eren answered.

'There is great passion in his voice, I like him,' Mainard chuckled.

'I'm glad he's on our side,' Connell replied.

"I'm glad to hear that. We will need everyone we can get," Connell said.

"Well, we've got some more soul to help us along the way," Eren chuckled.

Connell smiled.

"Good to have it with us," Connell replied.

The two walked around the group's headquarters.

"You didn't hesitate, can I ask why?" Eren said.

"I've heard so many stories of people trying to do what they believe is right, but some saying that because of certain matters that connect with them that what they hope for can't be achieved by the way they're trying to do it," Connell replied.

"What do you mean?" Eren asked.

"There were some reports that said that certain heroes didn't think humans shouldn't get involved in fighting bad guys because they didn't have powers. True, not having certain abilities or edges put them at greater risk than others," Connell answered.

"But you're not following that viewpoint," Eren said.

"I feel…I feel that if we don't give people chances and don't have a diverse sense of unity…I don't know if we can succeed…I don't mean to sound like a self-righteous jerk, sorry if so…but that's one factor of this regime we're fighting against: lack/hatred of diversity or at the very least the refusal to understand it," Connell elaborated.

Eren smiled and patted Connell's back.

"Couldn't agree more," Eren chuckled.

Suddenly the sounds of running feet were heard. The two turn to see Gigi stop a few feet away from them.

"What's wrong?" Connell asked, worry in his voice.

"I've been scoping over the city and I've got some troubling news about something that's been happening today…it's serious," Gigi answered.

Connell and Eren looked at one another with concern then back at Gigi with the same look.

(Manhattan, a few hours later)

On an empty street with a few cars parked at different spots, a woman in a coat is running away from a man with an angry look on his face chasing after her.

"Help! Someone, help me!" The woman cried out.

She ran into an alley but ran into a dead end. As she panted and looked up at the wall in front of her, she heard what sounded like a scuffle behind her. She turned around to see the man following after her barely conscious with a dark purple bruise on his face and blood dripping from the cut on his cheek along with blood dripping from his mouth. His shirt is being held up by the mysterious vigilante from the news. The woman gasped and chuckled then pulled a gun out of her coat.

"Thanks for making this easy. Whoever you are, you have the right to remain si –" the undercover cop started to say.

But there was suddenly a thud behind her. She turned around quickly with her gun, but it was grabbed out of her hand by a huge blue hand. She looked up in shock as the hulking blue figure crushed the gun in front of her with the one hand with little effort. The figure didn't blink as it just stared at her with a stoic visage. He let the broken and shattered pieces of the gun fall to the ground. The officer looked at him with terror but tried to work a smile on her face.

"I-It doesn't matter! We've been preparing for this! Now!" The cop called out.

There was no response of any sort. A look of slowly building denial of dread began to form on her face.

"We know about the NYPD's little 'traps', detective. We know you and all the other law enforcement agencies are working with S.H.I.E.L.D. and the government to bring us down. But there won't be any more chains," the mysterious vigilante with seemingly many voices speaking in unison stated.

"Y-You may have the freaks with you. But the normal people, will follow the law!" The cop said.

There was then the sounds of footsteps and scraps, taps, and pats could be heard. The cop turned to see a group of hooded and masked figures with bats, chains, and other makeshift weapons in hand appear before those in the alley while they dropped several cops before the lady officer. The men on the ground were all unconscious as well with bruises as well, their weapons still holstered.

"Y-You'll never get away with this!" The cop stammered.

"We know that some of those in law enforcement have and still do try to help and heal…but those of you who support the horrors being inflicted will find even 'everyday people' will stand against them. This resistance is born of many peoples coming together to fight what's wrong, which is the law. We will leave your men but know that you all aren't the heroes here and that it doesn't matter that you're wearing a badge," the vigilante said.

The mysterious vigilante threw something to the ground. The alley suddenly became filled with smoke. The lady cop coughed and could barely hear other sounds while she tried not to breather. When the smoke cleared, she looked around and the vigilantes were gone.

To be continued…

(Again, I'm so sorry for the very late update. I'm still in this damn writer's block and it's been a struggle for me every day since I last uploaded anything. I know it maybe be hypocritical, but there's another story idea I have in mind: a House MD and Law and Order SVU crossover that I have in mind…but like with all my stories/ideas, it's just gonna be difficult to put anything done. Again, I'm so sorry for the long hiatus and I don't know when I will upload/update next…sorry. Hope you all enjoyed the chapter.)
